Dillon Beach //

Have you ever seen that many peeps posted on Dillon Beach?  Me either.  I’ve never endured that kind of traffic either!  EVERYONE and their mother’s headed to the coast to beat the heat!

I think I brought the guys luck!  Ha!  Can’t decide which one of these I like better.

Dinner at River’s End.  Everytime we pass this restaurant I always say some day I want to stop.  But there is NEVER any parking.  Which must mean this place is legit.

There just to happen to be 1 spot.  So we stopped!  Bucket list CHECK!  √

River’s End is perched on a bluff overlooking the Russian River where it greets the Pacific Ocean.  It’s fucking magical!

Oh and the chard, it was fantastic too!

IMG_7966

I didn’t take any photos of our food other than the butter, ha!  As you can see, even the butter had amazing presentation.  The food was to die for!  I read that they prefer you save your phones + photos for the outdoors.  Once I read that, I obliged.  It was really hard though…lol.

The views from this place were seriously out of a magazine.

IMG_7963

We set up camp at Casini Ranch.  The ONLY campground with a spot left.  Like I said, the amount of peeps at the coast was absolutely unreal!

IMG_7967

Homeward bound lead us through Occidental.  Which I’ve been to once.  After a girls trip to the Happy Hideout.  I think it was the time we left Bodega and stopped for breakfast?  I got violently ill.  I belive it was a possible case of the bottle flu.  So this quant little town looked pretty new to me 🙂

IMG_7974IMG_7975

Pit stop for Michelada’s + breakfast burritos at El Mariachi Cafe.  Total dive Mexican restaurant, but their food was bomb.com

IMG_7982

We went though Sepastopol, which I’d also never visited.  Such a cute town.  I want to spend more time and dig in to all it has to offer.

We took every back road we could find.  Which lead us to another spot I’ve always wanted to stop at…..The Fremont Diner.

This place has been on my radar since Gal Meets Glam blogged about it back in March 2016,

IMG_7987

I had no idea what I got myself into.  I needed about 2 hours to check this whole place out.  That cute trailer is where you place to-go orders.

I highly recommend the peanut butter shake!

{summer to-do’s}

IMG_7800.PNG

Hey Girl,

Consider today the OFFICIAL kick off to summer.  Happy Summer Solstice!

Summer’s here!  Which means it’s time to take a deep breath and savor everything the season has to offer.  In your happy place.  Whether that means sitting by the ocean.  Camping under the stars.  Sipping rosé in your own backyard.  Dinning al fresco.  Gardening!

You know I love a good seasonal to-do list by now.  I couldn’t be more excited to write down ALL THE THINGS we’re planning to try out this summer.

Because in the end, memories aren’t made by sitting around waiting for them to happen, but from when you get out and live.

2018 Summer To-Do’s

Some of my highest viewing stats, thanks to the Patron sale at Nugget + my Mother’s Day Gift Guide!

Something else that caught my attention, I had views from 44 other countries.  Forty four!  Crazy, right?  I’m really not even sure how that happens.

Here’s a little re-cap on what we chatted about in May:

And in other news, the dress of my dreams arrived last night.  Remember the one I told you about yesterday on {weekend notes}?

IMG_6652.JPG

I bought this dress for an event.  Otherwise, I would have no place to wear it.  Ha!  I’m not a big get super dressed up type.

It’s like a gown.  Never, I have ever owned a dress like this.  The quality is top-notch.  It’s elegant.  Classic.  The color is so vibrant.  Super faltering silhouette…almost like it was tailored.  The ruffle details are perfectly placed.  And it has pockets!  Basically the ultimate summer statement dress.  Exactly what I was looking for.

Alas, June rolls in!  #holycowhowdidthathappen Ha!

This weather just screams summertime.  I cant even express my excitement.  With only 5 more days of school left, we are ready to say the least!  We’re currently planning out our summer.  Weekend trips.  Tahoe stays.  Pool days.  Bucket List.  Love the idea of these giant summer calendars to keep all your plans in motion.

What’s on your family’s Summer to-do’s?  Do you have a fun vacation planned?

It’s Friday, so let’s chat about 5 things on my mind……..

ONE – Before I die…… //  Has anyone stopped by and written on the wall?  We’re driven by it time and time again, but never stopped.  This week I added it to our intentions for the week and we make it happen.   I love seeing our little town participate in such a cool art exhibit.  Put it on your weekend to-do’s.  Let your kids write what comes to mind.  It’s cute to see what they’re thinking.  Take your own chalk and find a space!

Originally created by artist Candy Chang on an abandoned wall in New Orleans, Before I Die is a global art project that invites community participation. This public wall has been produced more than 2,000 times in 70 countries, and presented in 35 languages. The participatory art exhibit invites passers-by to complete the sentence, “Before I die, I want to…” by writing on the wall with chalk to contribute a heartfelt wish, a goal, or an intention.

THREE – Target + Museum Of Ice Cream Colab // Coming to Target’s kids department + freezer section!   Mark your calendar for this Sunday, June 3rd!  The collection will highlight Museum of Ice Cream’s playful, pastel-hued fun!  Think gummy bear graphic tees.  Then July 8th, seven ice cream flavors launch.  Nana Banana + Cherrylicious + Chocolate Crush + Churro Churro (OMG) + Vanillionaire  AND Museum of Ice Cream’s signature flavors: Pinata + Sprinkle Pool!  Just one more reason to love good ol Target!!!

Memorial Day Weekend always gets me so excited.  The unofficial start of Summer!  Just reminds me of everything that’s right around the corner.  Longer evening.  Sunny days.  Pool days.  Barbecuing.  Cut-off + flip flops.  Lots of cold rosé.  Happy hours.  Family vacations.  Celebrations.  Long weekends.  There is no better way to welcome summer, than to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend.

Weekend plans: Potter Valley Rodeo!  I haven’t been to a rodeo in yearrrsss.  Pretty pumped to dust off my shit kickers.  Some kayaking is on the agenda.  Lots of beer drinking.  And sunshine.  Whatever you do, make it a good one!

ONE – Saved By The Max // Did anyone else DIE over the Vanderpump Rules cast at The Max?  Raise your hand if you grew up on Saved By The Bell?  Zack ♥ You guys, I googled that shit.  There is a legit pop-up in West Hollywood.  It’s called Saved By The Max.  ANYONE can go.  It looks just like the Max too!  Kinda like the Museum Of Ice Cream + The Color Factory, but all about Saved By The Bell.  Basically it’s a place to go and get all the cool pictures that are wayyy insta worthy!

$40 a person and you can choose Brunch or Dinner in either The Max or Mr. Belding’s Office.

Check it out here: Saved By The Max

I really aged myself when I tried to have a convo with Bay about it…Ha!  “What’s Saved By The Bell?”

Check out Vanderpump Rules visit here: Photos Of The ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Cast Channeling ‘Saved By The Bell’ Will Make ‘90s Kids So Nostalgic

TWO – Cilantro Vinaigrette //  You will want to put this shit on EVERYTHING!  Swear.  Sandwiches.  Salads.  Over cheese…yum.  Put a dollop over hummus.  Toss with your veggies and roast.  I even added some to ranch dressing.  WOW!  I’m going to marinade chicken in the little bit that I have left.  It’s got a little kick, but Bay didn’t seem to notice.

I’m tell you this stuff is gold.

IMG_5966

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • big ass bunch of cilantro (or 2 small ones)
  • 1/2 cup olive oil (still in love with Seka Hills evoo)
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Toss everything in the food processor.  Blend for about 1 minutes, until everything is nice and smooth.

Pour into a mason jar and pop in the fridge.

IMG_5965

THREE – Crop Top //  Boxy + cropped + structured = perfect.  Just gimme all the crop tops!  I’m hooked on this look.  Front tucked.  Totally tucked.  Loving it!  And it’s pink.  Not only am I a sucker for a good striped tee, you make it pink and sold!  If you’re down with crop tops, grab this before it’s gone!

I never got around to blogging about our 2017 Casini Trip.  It was equally as good!  That’s what brought us back.  The perfect campground for families.  Daily activities for the kids.  Ice cream social.  Bonfires.  Feeding the Casini horses.  Panning for rocks.  Bike rides.  And of course the river.  If you’re looking for a new place to camp, I suggest you try out Casini.

Fri-Day!  Planning on taking full advantage of the weekend and get some relaxing in.  Next week is Spring Show….aka shit show.  Only kidding.  It’s just a very busy week.  And a good week.  Bay entered a baked good.  Table setting.  And has a pig.  If you’re looking for us, we’ll be at the fairgrounds.

Weekend plans?  We’re hitting the road.  Camping on the Russian River.  I love camping.  It’s a lot of work and all, but being outdoors, roughin it a little bit.  Drinking from sun up till sun down (the best part in my book)  S’mores.  Sitting around the campfire laughing till your belly hurts.  That’s what we’ll be up too.

Ok, let the weekend begin!

One – Fruit Bowl // Found it.  Actually my Mom found it, within minutes.  I legit scoured Target.com for this wooden pedestal bowl I used in {orange table setting} for about 30 minutes.  I search pedestal.  Wooden bowl.  You name it.  But, fruit bowl?  That’s just dumb Target.  It looks very Pottery Barn-ish with a Target price tag.  Anyway, I got lots of messages about it.  So here ya go….

IMG_4057

Turned Wood Fruit Bowl – Threshold

53081831.jpg

TWO – Polenta Croutons // Same idea as polenta fries.  These crispy little things are the perfect addition to any salad.  I still swear by Robin Nelson’s famous salad.  Mixed greens.  Brianna’s Creamy Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing.  Blue cheese crumbles.  Sliced cherry tomatoes.  Croutons.  The only thing I’ve changed: thinly sliced red onion.  And of course, polenta croutons.  Shake it up in a big trash bag and pour into a salad bowl.  It’s  a crowd pleaser.  When you make this salad, remember to give Robin a shout out!

Polenta Croutons:

  • 18oz tube pre-cooked polenta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan
  • Salt + pepper

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.  Line a baking sheet with foil or a silpat.

Chop polenta into cubes.  Don’t bother making them perfect….just try to keep them about the same size so the cook evenly.

Toss chopped polenta + the rest of the ingredients into a bowl.

Place polenta croutons on prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.

Flip and bake an additional 15 minutes.  Or until golden brown and crisp.

How many polenta croutons should one eat in a sitting?  Asking for a friend.

These little fuckers are dangerous…just FYI!

THREE – Mascara Primer // New Product alert.  I know I say this all the time, but you guys…I found an amazing product.  Mascara Primer.  I’d honestly never even heard of it till last week.  Used this product everyday this week and the only thing I can say: So pissed I didn’t know about this sooner.  It’s life changing!  I coat my eyelashes with primer.  The primer is white, just fyi.  Let it dry for a sec, then top with my STILL fave mascara (L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise)  You’ll never guess how much this primer costs?

Hello Monday!  I woke up on the right side of the bed this morning.  So, I’m taking full advantage of the day.  Even made it to 5am Kaia!  I truly believe that a weekend well spent brings a week of content.  Last week was a shit show, so this one is bound to be great.  The ebb and flow of life.  If one week sucks, the following is probably going to be wayy better.

Bay + I hit the sheets early last night.  Right after I completed my to-do’s for the week.  My blog content schedule.  Okay, so how was your weekend friends?  Saturday was absolutely frickin gorgeous.  Sunday too, till about 5pm when it started DUMPING!  Looking forward to more weekends just like this one……

Our picks.  Succulants…always.  And some other pretties.  I’d tell you all about them, but I can’t remember what they’re called.  Why do plants have the most awful names?  The green leaf right in front is going in a pot on my front porch.  Little daisy like flowers will come summer time.

Arboretum stroll

I can’t tell you how gorgeous the Arboretum is this time of year.

3.6 mile loop with views like this.  I really need to spend more time here.

The poppies are everywhere.  Turtles galore.  Ducks for days.

Perfect place for a Saturday stroll.

A surprise Lavendar Topiary plant delivery from my homegirl Sarah P!

I mentioned to her last week, that I’ve been wanting one.  These are a Costco score.  So run now, they sell out quick!

You’re the best Sarah!!!

Watching both of my nephews baseball games.  Benny got 2 doubles and Joe got an awesome hit too….he even slid into home.  Love watching them play.  And spending time with this little cutie.

Sunday Hike

All over Putah Creek + Berryessa.

We pulled off on the side of the road and took the trail down to the Lake.  I never even knew there were trails.  So cool.

Pit stop at Turtle Rock for a cold beer + egg roll.  Always!

Look for our $1 next time you stop.  It’s right under the sky light 🙂

We stumbled upon Nichelini Winery.  Up the road from Turtle Rock about 3 miles.  We actaully saw a sign in the bar and the owner at Turtle Rock told us we should check it out.

Done!

Nestled right on the side of Sage Canyon Road, you’ll come up on Nichelini Family Winery.

You’re probably passed by many times, like us and never stopped.

Do me a favor.  STOP next time.

You won’t be dissapointed.

It just so happened to be their Rosé release day.  And I just so happened to be wearing my Rosé the day away shirt.

The owners asked to take our photo for their FB page.  Yes, Yes + yes!  Ha.

It was meant to be! Rosé is the day — Nichelini Rosé is to die for!

Their Caberbet Sauvignon Rosé is to die for.  We both agreed.  And I’m not always a Rosé gal.
