Gilda (not so basic)

Mozzarella, Fontina, Olives, Red Onion, Garlic/Parsley/Anchovy Persillade

Weekend notes a day late.  Only for my Mama!  Hope you all had a good one.  Between Napa + volunteering + cooking + wine-ing…it was a nice weekend!  I woke up Monday morning ready to conquer the week.  Don’t you love it when that happens?

Intentions for the week:

  • Stay sugar-free (ish)killed it during the week/failed on the weekend
  • Drink 75 oz. of water a day aka 3 Yeti cups + a little more
  • Organize my closet (it’s on here AGAIN, I know)
  • Work out 5-days this weekAnd I actually enjoyed it!!!
  • Send back returns
  • Hang shit on the walls (not shit, but art/decor) Almost done!
  • Challenge myself to not place ANY on-line orders (last week was redic) – FAILED miserably.  In my defense, J.Crew was having a good sale and I had Nordstom bucks burning a hole in my pocket.
  • Change passwords/update names for wifi + make a cute sign
  • Make smoked paprika roasted chickpeasmade another batch for this week…so good!
  • Get blonde again
  • Chill out on the BRAVO channel – Can’t stop, won’t stop

I’m getting the hang of this crossing shit off!  Take a peek weeks Intentions {weekend notes}

And here are some highlights….

Martini night kicked my ass Saturday.  But, I’ll do it all over again when Alex calls and invites me over for ”A” drink next time.

Especially when you’re 6:30 am alarm goes off to do a Kaia workout with Melika.  I didn’t die.  Almost though.

I did wipe out the whole hour of exercising afterwards.  Believe it or not, I was an El Patio breakfast burrito virgin.  Until now!  I’ve been missing out…BIG time.

I also drank a soda the size of my face.  Probably haven’t had a soda since 2006.

A quick trip to Napa!

Dinner at Boon Fly Cafe made my dreams of staying at the Carneros Resort even bigger.  The grounds are to die for.  The price tag….Not so much.

If you follow me on Instagram Stories, then you are well aware of how I spent Sunday.

Meal preppin!

Pioneer Women Restaurant Salsa.  I always have a mason jar full of this in my fridge.  It’s my favorite, easiest, homemade salsa.  It goes on eggs + salads + chicken, you name it.

Chicken Burrito Bowls

Blueberry Coffee Cake

Whipped Ricotta + Feta Dip

3-bean salad

(I’ll share this one later this week.  It’s a good one!)

IMG_1575

I even prepped everything for Monday nights dinner:

Steak Roll-Ups

Mocha Almond Fudge Ice Cream Pie

New York Times No-Knead Bread

Omega Nu sisters volunteer for the CASA event!

IMG_1583

After our Friday night meeting, I was so inspired by the CASA organization.  I thought I knew what they were all about.  I had no idea what an impact they really make on kids in our community.  And now I understand why guests at the event are also so supportive of the CASA organization.  The speeches.  Watching the paddles fly up in the air.  We lost count at $150,000 during the live auction.  Speechless!

Oh and Park Winters isn’t too shabby either…….

That pool though.  I’m thinking we need a pool day soon!

Take a peek at the menu.

The food.  Equally amazing.  Look at the halibut ♥

Happy Holiday Weekend!!

This week has flown by and I’m perfectly okay with that!  I’ve got 4 consecutive days off….AGAIN.  How is the fuck did I manage to pull that off 2 weekends in a row?  I could cry.  It’s so GREAT!  Have I ever told you that 4th of July is like my favorite Holiday?  I mean, I love them all, but the 4th is just extra special.  We spend the Holiday at our family cabin in Lake Tahoe.  We go to the beach + sit/eat on the deck + play 31 over and over + go for walks + BBQ + sleep in + just chill with the family.  And pray that the bears don’t break in and eat us for a snack…HA!  It almost happened to my parents and the kids last night!!!  Swear!

Before I check out for the weekend, let’s talk about what I’ve got on my mind this beautifully fucking perfect Friday……

ONESeka Hills // Family Fun.  Food.  Fireworks.  And that’s exactly what they delivered.  What a fun night.  This is the second year in a row that I’ve attended this event.  The firework show is pretty damn impressive.  The Live music.  And the kid zone.  Although I was kidless, I did notice how cute the kid zone was.  Crafts galore and a photo booth too!  I was busy double fisting tuluk’a + rose and scarfing down Chandos Tacos Mulitas.  OMG…amazing by the way!

Until last night, I had never heard of Mulitas…..

Expertly made by layering jack cheese and your choice of meat between two corn tortillas. Top it off with Chandos’s signature fresh cilantro, delicious diced onions, creamy guacamole and tangy salsa for an instant flavor explosion.

Special thanks to Alex my wrap/knot shirt expert.  She fixed me up after every bathroom trip:)  I love the top, but it’s a lot of fucking work…HA!

TWO – Hershey Kisses // Red + white + blue wrapped treats just taste better.  I’m not going to admit how many of these Kisses I’ve devoured in the last week…FML!  I bought them for the Bike Parade and completely forgot to set them out on the treat table.  Darn it!  9 kisses for 200 calories, not bad!  These festive foils wrapped kisses are sold exclusively at Target, so don’t waste your time (like I did) look for them anywhere else.  I promise, you need these in your life!

THREE – Strait to Vegas //  We purchased our airline tickets!!  Shit is getting real!!  REAL exciting!!  Even my knocked up sister is pumped to tear up Vegas again.  I’m already mapping our the restaurants we’ll dine at.  Even though I heard it’s a disappointment….I have to check out the fancy Taco Bell.  Remember, I’m a TB junkie 🙂

29 days till I’m reunited with my main man, George!!

{3 glasses}

3 glasses…..of wine, that is.

During a conversation this week, I was asked “what do you do for fun?”  Shit.  I always tell the truth.  So maybe sugar coat it a little?

  1. I like to cook
  2. I like to take day trips, hike, go to places I’ve never been.  Check shit out.
  3. I like to drink wine with my homegirls.

Problem is…..

#3 is really my #1.  Ha.  I told the truth, just maybe not in the correct order?  But, that’s ok…right?

Anyway, I read the article 3 glasses monttthhhhsss ago.  Ask Korine, she can vouch.  She was the first to agree to do this “experiment” with me.

What happens after drinking 1, 2 and 3 glasses of wine?

{bacon broccoli + potato frittata}

Sundays are made for brucnhing + wine drinking with the girls.  Although we’ve decided to stick with Saturday’s from now on.  No particular reason though…Ha!

Anyway….I’m sure you saw this recipe floating around social media all last week.  That’s how I found it and knew it had to happen.  Foodie Crush recipes are always good ones.  ALWAYS!!  Remember my love for eggs, right?  Over easy, hard-boiled, baked…you name it, I love it.

The Frittata is so crazy versatile.  You can serve it for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  You can serve it cold, room temp or warm.  And you can add any variety of meats + veggies + even leftovers and end up with a masterpiece.

The bonus….it’s so incredibly easy too.

salt + pepper

and add all your favorites to customize your own.

Check out all the combos.  The Greek…yumm.  Or how about the Spring with smoked salmon?  WOW!

Happy Monday!  Hope you had a happy weekend too!  This is my thought today…Coffee (lots of it) till cocktails…lol!  I found this sweater at Target and it some how hopped in my cart as I walked by.  It’s pretty accurate!

Anyone else love checking the mailbox this time of year?  I get so excited to open all the Holiday cards from our family + friends.  Friday night was a good one.  Our card wall is almost full.

FullSizeRender (42).jpg

Friday night Bay and I planed to have a chill “stay home day”  that’s what she used to call the weekends when she was little.  Not sure why, because we never stayed home?!?!

We kicked it in our PJ’s + tested some new recipes for the blog (stay tuned…they are bomb) + watched Home Alone!!  My ultimate top Christmas movie!  I can watch it twice in a row and be completely content.

Bay helping me made a delish TJ’s soup.

Speaking of Christmas movies….what’s your favorite Christmas classic?

Elf?

National Lampoon’s?

The Christmas Story?

And looking at this 25 days of Christmas TV got me thinking…not only do we have 6 days left of these awesome shows, but the Holidays will be here and gone in 6 days too.  Holy cow!

My Mom + I went out for dinner and a movie ♥  I finally checked out  Tower Cafe.  Can you believe I’d never been?  I can cross that off my must-try list.  It was soooo good!   We ordered a Thai seafood stew that was served over jasmine rice.  TO DIE FOR!!!  I can totally see brunching at Tower Cafe this spring/summer.  The outside area is fun.

IMG_0876.JPG

Watched Manchester By The Sea at the Tower Theater , which I’d also never been too.  I swear it’s a replica of the State Theater in Woodland.

Here’s a what it’s all about…..

Lee Chandler is a brooding, irritable loner who works as a handyman for a Boston apartment block. One damp winter day he gets a call summoning him to his hometown, north of the city. His brother’s heart has given out suddenly, and he’s been named guardian to his 16-year-old nephew. As if losing his only sibling and doubts about raising a teenager weren’t enough, his return to the past re-opens an unspeakable tragedy.

It was heartbreaking.  I’d be laughing then crying.  The gut wrenching  story was acted out beautifully.  I wish the ending was a little better though.  When the lights came on, everyone just sat still in their seats.  Like it couldn’t be over.  We needed more.
