{gift guide: father’s day}

Father’s Day is right around the corner. I’m talking 10 days ladies. I swear, Father’s Day sneaks up on me every year. And I think we can all agree…..Men are either the easiest to buy for or the very hardest? Am I right? Like, there is NO in between. So, we better hop to it!

Sometimes we overthink things. Don’t stress. It’s not all about the fancy gifts. Sometimes it’s just the thought of planning some quality time. A little extra effort. Especially when it comes from the kiddos. I’m sharing some ideas on how to make Father’s Day extra special.

Plan one of his favorite activities //

Whether you go out to his fave brunch or dinner spot. Maybe the golf course or Top Golf to hit some golf balls. The lake for a day on the water. The local brewery for some beers. Does he like going to the movies? Grab all his top candy + snacks and head to the show. Or the store he loves to shop at. Whatever it is – makes reservations and arrangements ahead of time. That way you can just go and have fun!

Plan a BBQ or brunch //

Pick his number one meal. Breakfast. Brunch. BBQ. Whatever it is….grocery shop and have it all prepped. Have the kids set the table. How cute are they necktie napkins? Super easy to do. I’ll share the DIY below. These menus are the perfect touch. They are customizable do you can add anything you’d like.

Square Dish Set (on sale) | Gold Flatware | Linen Napkins | Table Runner (only $7) | Stainless Steel Vase: Serendipity

A fun gift //

Big or small. Something he’d never buy for himself. Or maybe something you know he could use. Have the kids wrap it up with the Sunday newspaper. Make handmade cards. I promise whatever is in the box will put a smile on his face.

I rounded up a bunch of tried + true great items that I think any dad would LOVE.

{weekend notes}

Well hello to the Monday-ist Tuesday there ever was!

Question: If you could drop everything today, and travel anywhere in the world…..where would you go?

Mine will forever be Italy. I love experiencing new places. Near or far! Taking photos. Walking around. Currently suffering from Major Wanderlust, can you tell? But, sitting at this beach did the trick this weekend.

Intentions for the Week:

  • Work on our Summer Bucket List
  • Dedicate an evening to all our fave self care
  • Plan out Bay’s summer (babysitting + camps + vacay’s)
  • Make some bomb.com dinner’s
  • Finish Girl, Stop Apologizing (such a great book)
  • American Eagle Try-On…they’ve got some cute shit!!!
  • Finishing touches on the front porch
  • Father’s Day gift guide for all the dudes in our lives
  • Count my Macros + log everything
  • Chill Out!

This week on xoxostacyb: You got my {Italian Salad} yesterday, and I truly apologize that it posted without the actual recipe yesterday. On my end it looked as though everything was just so, but I used a “page break” instead of a “read more” option. Which cut off the ingredients + directions. It’s corrected now! Other posts coming this week….my front porch refresh. Some fun dresses that wont break the bank. And maybe even a salmon recipe.

Highlights from the long weekend…..

We stopped at Bridal Veil Falls on our way to Tahoe Friday. It was the largest I’ve ever seen it in my years of driving to the cabin.

{diy succulent bowl}

These succulent bowls are insanely easy to throw together. Probably my easiest DIY to date. Once you’ve gathered all your materials, it’s really just adjusting the succulents to your liking. And that’s basically it. Swear.

I kept seeing these on the gram’ this week and feel head over heels for them. The only difference, I used real plants vs. faux. Either totally do the trick. But, since my Mom is my succulent dealer, I opted to go the real deal route. You guys, her succulent grow fucking wild. It’s wild. Ha! They get watered every.single.day and they LOVE it. I do that to my succulents and the shrivel up and die. WTF? Stacy’s Mom has got the succulent thing going on!

Bunny Cookie Cutter | Floral Placemat | Milk Glass Dish

How adorable are these little bunny butt cookies? Bay helped me make them and I LOVE how they turned out. So simple too. We used a sugar cookie package to make these. Because, sometimes….we just don’t have time to whip out the mixer and make a hot mess. lol.

All you need is your fave sugar cookie recipe. Or a packaged mix. A bunny cookie cutter. I found this one on Amazon after searching all the stores in town (with NO luck) and Amzon delivered in 1 day. Well done Amazon, well done. And a cute dab of frosting for a cotton tail.

This is a great cookie to make with little ones. You can’t mess it up. And they take no time at all. Nothing gets you into the Holiday spirit like a cookie baking day anyway.

{diy succulent wreath}

Happy Hump day. This post is a day late, I know. Anyone else having major Instagram issues? I can’t post. I can’t comment. Stories wont load. This is day #2 and Instagram needs to get their shit together. Because, I’ve got a lot to share…lol.

First off, I have to give credit to Dixon Florist. I spotted one of these succulent wreaths on their feed right after the Holidays. I could have gone to the store and picked one up. 100% down with supporting all the local businesses. But, I’ve been craving some creativity. That’s a mouth full. Ha. Just using my hands to make shit. So, I called my succulent dealer (aka, my mom) and she dropped off an assortment of the prettiest variety from her yard.

Buying a variety of succulents can get pricey, I get it! There is a group on Facebook called: Woodland Succulent Exchange. A women named Lola Gutierrez sells variety packs for $15! She ships and even does local deliveries. Check her out! Even if you just want to plant some in your yard, it’s a really great deal!

Remember back in October, when I shared my: {fall table setting + DIY succulent pumpkin}

Then in January I shared my: {DIY $12 eucalyptus wreath}

I LOVED seeing all your photos following my two DIY’s. Makes my damn day! For reals!

Well, this is kinda the same idea. A cross between the pumpkin and the wreath. Same tools + materials. Just swapping the pumpkin for a grapevine wreath.

And can we take a moment to mention, I took this photo at 6:30 PM! Do you notice anything. Frickin sunlight! You guys, as much as the time change can suck, I’m here for it. All this extra sunshine is giving me all the spring feels.

Annnnndd it’s FRIDAY!

Can I get a hell yeah?!?!  Hell Yeah!

Did you catch what Bay baked in my Instagram stories this morning?  She was asked to bring dessert to the Truitt’s house tonight and she straight up killed it.  It’s a little more formal than the occasion, but I love her creativity.

I’ve gotten lots of messages asking me to share more details.  And don’t trip chocolate chip….you know I will!

img_0087

You guys, the SUN is trying so hard to come out today.  Which makes it kinda feel like beer drinking weather.  You know what I mean?  That spring weather that makes you wanna ditch work and get hammer-timed.

After all the rain lately, I think we’re all craving some vitamin D!

Anyway, switching things up today.  I just wasn’t feelin the normal {friday 5} thing.

Yes, it’s another DIY that involves eucalyptus.  You know my love for eucalyptus is REAL!  This aromatic greenery is typically referred to as a “filler” Which to me kinda means, the extra stuff.  Cheap.  Not the real thing.

img_0077

But, let’s keep it real….I would choose eucalyptus over any flower.  Wellll, maybe till Spring.  Then I may add tulips.  Only white ones though.  Ha.

You’ll find some kind of eucalyptus variety around my house year round.  And once it dries, it’s even better.

This simple DIY took me about 20 minutes.  Closer to 15ish…then an extra 5 to perfect it.

You really only need 3 things.  Unless you’re like me.  Then you’ll need all 4!

img_0125

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • grapevine wreath (I used an 18″) Joann’s // Michael’s // Amazon
  • fresh silver dollar eucalyptus ($2.99/ bunch at Trader Joe’s.  I used 3 bunches)
  • scissors
  • glass of wine

Happy Tuesday friends!  If you’re anything like me, you’re scrambling around like a wild women.  So, let’s keep it short and sweet.

Remember how I keep saying I’m craving minimal + simple decor?  Not a lot of color.  Natural.  Greenery.  Clean.

img_7244

Marble Top Coffee Table //  Sunday Suppers Book // Candle Wick Trimmer //  Candle: Sweet Citrus // Mercury Glass dish

I was playing around with some ornamental cabbage I picked up from Trader Joe’s last week.  By the way, it’s only $4.99!!  And I was in TJ’s yesterday and they’ve got enough for everyone.  I kept sticking the long stalks in a vase and just wasn’t loving it.  So I chopped the stems and stuck them in a salad bowl.  Grabbed some seeded eucalyptus that I had in a vase.  Popped it all around the base.

And it was magic.  I fell in love with it.  This simple arrangement meets my checklist of needs: clean + minimal + natural + green.

Not to mention it cost me $8.  Trader Joe’s has hands down, the BEST flower section I’ve ever seen.  And right now it’s better than ever.

You could always add some flowers.  Hydrangea would be beautiful.  Or even babies breath.

knit stockings (on sale) // sting lights // mercury glass garland

Anyone else living life without a fireplace?

Where in the H-E-double hockey sticks to you hang your stockings?

I’ve tried our armoire…but, let’s be real, I don’t want anything blocking Vanderpump Rules.  And moving the stockings each time I want to watch the tube…nahh!  I’m good.

How does Santa get into your house?  When Bay was about 4-ish years old we had to leave a key to our house tied around the door knob…on the outside.   Beaucse we didn’t have a chimeny back then either.  I’m telling you, the stuggle is real.

Last year I said fuck it, and didn’t hang stockings at all.  It was kinda sad, really.

Christmas morning I chucked Bay’s stocking across the living room floor next to the tree.  DONE!

img_6677

knit stockings // sting lights // mercury glass garland

This year though, I vowed to hang the damn stockings.  I mean, let me be 100% honest….the ol man comes down the chimney (I mean front door…remember – NO fireplace lol) in 12 days and we still don’t have a single ornament on our tree.  I did tie a pretty bow on the top.  And strung about 2 grand lights.

I’ve got this weird minimal Christmas vibe that I can’t shake.  I want everything to be clean and simple.

But, I really, really wanted a place to stick our stockings.

img_6687

I went to Pinterest and searched “ways to hang stockings” and about 8,237 DIY blanket ladders popped up.  Some say $10 ladder.  Or you don’t need a man to make this.  Others said, just buy the damn ladder and call it a day.  I pinned about 25.  You can check them out here: DIY blanket ladder Pinterest

img_6689

I printed them all out.  Waited till Cory was in a really good mood….about 5 bud lights deep, then showed him my idea.  We was on the fence….haha.
