{dupes + the pretty pink blouse}

Do you ever just itch for a change?  Is it the in-between of seasons that’s got me ready for a change?  Honestly, I’m not even sure what the change is…ha!  I’m so complicated like that.  I think I’m tired of the same ol thing.

Last time I had “the itch” (that sounds really terrible) It was the hair itch.  (that sounds even more terrible) You know, the one where you need a cut or color change?  So you hit up your hairdresser and make it happen.  That was me last month.

But, I still have “the itch!”

I know that when I’m feeling like I need a change, it’s because I DO need a change.  Now I have to figure out what will do the trick.  It doesn’t have to be anything maj.  Sometimes it’s shifting a couple little things, that make “the itch” go away.  Ok, I have to be done with that….sounds worse and worse every time I type it.

  • 100% the sun!  That would be fabulous.

  • I might move around some furniture?

  • Switch up the weekly dinner menu with something funky?

  • Try a new beauty product?

  • Maybe all of the above?

What do you do, when you feel like you need to switch things up a little?

In the meantime, since I have NO frickin idea what the change will entail, I bought myself a few pretty things.  Springy things.  Obvi, that should do the trick for now….lol.  A new blouse.  A pretty pink one.  One that screams spring.  And it made me feel better.

I apologize in advance for the terrible photos today.  I had every intention of taking outfit pictures over the weekend when it was beautiful and sunny.  But decided to save that task for a rainy, dark, stormy Tuesday morning.  Totally makes sense, right?  HA!  And my house it a dungeon.  I get zero natural light.  Which KILLS me.

{friday 5}

Oh hey Friday!  Happy to meet you again.  So ready for the weekend.  But first, can we take a minute to talk about this flash back Friday photo my Mom dug up?!?!  A few things.  My hair?  My Mom is a total babe.  Benny is a spitting image of my sis.  My Dad looks like a teenager.  And we’re sitting on the deck at the cabin.  Same place I will be spending this weekend ♥  along with a lot of snow.  It’s always fun to pull up to the cabin anticipating how much snow will actually be on the ground.  I have a feeling we’ll have more than I’m ready to deal with…Ha!  Did I mention, I’m not a fan of the snow…like, at ALL!  Cheers to the weekend friends!

5 things on my mind…..

ONE – The Skinny, Skinny Margarita //  Whenever I order a marg, I always ask for a skinny, skinny marg.  Ha.  I hate sweet.  The less sugar.  The less syrup.  The more tequila….the better.  Am I right?  I want to taste what I’m drinking.  You know when you take that first sip, and you pucker up because it’s so overly sweetened?  Not havin’ it.  So, I think I invented the at home skinny, skinny marg.  Unless some other jerk already has.  But, until then, I’m claiming it!  This is like my second invention in a week!  Remember the roasted cauli rice one last week on {friday 5}?  That was mine too 🙂

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 3 oz Patron Silver (don’t buy the cheap crap)
  • 1/2 cup lime La Croix
  • 1 lime juiced
  • Ice
  • Margarita salt

Run the cut side of the lime along the rim of the glass.  Dip in margarita salt.

In a shaker…or yeti, like I used, combine all ingredients.  Give it a good 15 second shake.

Pour into glass + add a little more ice.

Make another 🙂

Dos margaritas!

TWO – Velvet Tank // Velvet was such a BIG deal this fall/winter.  I was all about it.  As Spring starts showing it’s pretty face, I have a feeling the trend will fade.  But, this velvet tank top wont.  I promise you will continue to see me wearing it any chance I get.  I also layered necklaces for the first time.  Did I do okay?  I’m kinda diggin it.  Now I need some long necklace options.  This one here is from Forever 21 a longgg time ago.  And it’s still alive.  Don’t hate/discriminate on F21 jewelry.  Some pieces will outlive you 🙂

Velvet Tank Top // Ruffle Sleeve Kimono // Wire Wrapped Pendant Necklace  //

Long necklace (Forever 21)

THREE – Oscar Bingo //  I can’t remember a time where I enjoyed the awards season more.  The red carpet fashion.  The stars.  All the movies.  I think watching a lot of the movies that are nominated helped.  I, Tonya.  Lady Bird.  The Post.  COCO.  Wonder.  The Greatest Showman.  The Big Sick.  And just this week we crossed Darkest Hour + Roman J. Isreal, ESQ. off the list too.  Denzel Washington deserves “Best Actor In a Leading Role” for Roman J. Isreal, ESQ.  He was, as always, fantastic!

Super pumped for Sunday’s Oscar Awards.  Bay + I plan to pop some popcorn, bust out some bubbles (for me obvi) + play a friendly game of Oscar BINGO!  Check out these super cute free printable cards I found on Pizzazzerie.   Four different cards so you can play with your kiddos + company.

May the best film win!!

{spring table + rose napkin fold}

In celebration of March, today I’m sharing my Spring table setting.  Setting a pretty table has become one of my favorite seasonal projects.  Simple + clean.  Lots of white.  And it’s always fun to shop my own house for different pieces to finish the table off.
A set table makes the home feel so welcoming.
And nothing sets the Spring tone like a bright cheery room.
Keep scrolling to check out all the details…..
Bay even helped me with this one too!  I’m rubbing off on her…Ha!
She rolled all the rose napkins.  Perfectly.  She knows how I roll….lol.
Farmers Market flowers were my favorite find last Saturday.  Super unique.
Once these begin to wilt, I’ll probably grab a couple of bunches of eucalyptus to replace it.
Fresh rosemary + thyme tied with bakers twine.  As soon as the candle was lit, I could smell the fresh herbs.  Such a fun touch.  The thyme wilts quickly.  If you decide to try this at home.  Either stick with rosemary for a longer lasting look.  Or do this the day of, if you’re having peeps over.  Either way, I love using anything fresh I can get my hands on.  I have rosemary planted out back.  Fresh thyme was leftover from a recipe.  I also love using up things I already have in the fridge.
I wanted a layered look without chargers or extra on the table.  I bought this plate set at Walmart yearrrrsss ago.  It’s from the Better Homes and Garden collection.  Which is still available.  I have 2 sets making an 8 piece place setting.  They are great quality and don’t have a single chip.

{eyelet sweatshirt}

It’s Hump Day…..unfortunately not Friday.  Even though it feels like it should be Friday.  Anyone else?  All day yesterday, I thought it was Wednesday.  I wrote it.  Almost screwed up some plans.  Then I realized it was Taco Tuesday, and that made it a little better.

Speaking of Taco Tuesday, Maria’s Cantina stepped up their Taco Tuesday game.  The normal 2 Woodland Tacos + Modelo for $5 have a new partner.  2 Woodland Tacos + Margarita for $10!  And the bartender can also make a mean skinny, skinny marg too!  You’re welcome.

You guys…..

TOMORROW is the first day of March!  We are inching closer and closer to Spring.

20 days to be exact.  The countdown has begun.

I’m dreaming of Spring.  And all things Spring.  Nothing beats the onset of Spring.  Am I right?

And how about this scallop eyelet trim sweatshirt?  It’s perfection.  Crisp white.  Feminine eyelet detail.   Keyword: ON SALE!

I put this sweatshirt on and fell in love ♥

I can’t wait till it warms up just a little and I can pop this on with a pair of cut-off shorts + sandals.

But, until then, I’ll be rocking it with warm jeans + closed toed shoes…lol.

40% off now through Sunday.  No code needed!

Comes is grey too!

{universal thread at target}

Do you know what I love?  Long walks down each isle at Target.

That’s what I love.  HA!  Sometimes I even write it on my calendar.  Like a date!  A date with Target.  And I have a feeling I’m not the only one doing this?!?!

I designate a lunch break to Target.  Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever designated a lunch break (almost every week) to anything or anyone else.

Target, you’re my boo!

But, what I really want to chat about today is the new-ish clothing line at Target.

Universal Thread

Have you checked it out yet?  They’ve got some good stuff!  So, if you’re trying to “be good” I suggest you don’t mosey you’re happy little self to the women’s clothing section.

Here’s a peak at what I’ve purchased + what I’ve got my eye on…..

I wore this exact outfit to Madewell the other day and got stopped multiple times.  Chicks in the store thought I bought my top and shoes from Madewell.  Nothing better than saying, Nope – Target.  $20!  Ha.

Then I had a long covo with some of the gals working at Madewell.  We started talking about the Universal Thread line and ALL agreed on one thing.  They totally copied Madewell.  Which, for us, is a really GREAT thing.  I’m sure as hell not mad about it.  You can get Madewell style for a Target price tag.

All the pieces are simple.  Clean lines.  Well constructed.  Universal (hence the name).  I’d say more classic than trendy.

Top // Levi’s ($39) // Shoes

Striped Short Sleeve Button Down Shirt – Universal Thread™ Cream

This top is effortlessly cute.  It’s a classic striped button-down shirt.  Tied at the wait.  Tucked in.  Unbuttoned with a cami underneath.   I’ve tried it all three ways and love them all equally.  I gave mine one extra sleeve roll too.

Only downfall…..

It comes out of the wash completely mangled.  And you know how I feel about ironing, right?  I don’t do it.

After reading over and over about how much Lisa at Salty Lashes LOVES her steamer.  I ordered one with my Christmas giftcards.

Say hello to my new best friend.  The Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Handheld Fabric Steamer.

{friday 5}

Happy Friday, Friends!  It was a long busy week, but it felt so good to tackle the ol’ to-do list.  On a scale from starting to have an fing panic attack to gurrrllll, I got this…..where are you with your Christmas shopping?  Or is that just a loaded question 10 days away from Christmas?  Hope you get that shit done so you can enjoy the remainder of the Holiday season.

It’s Friday and I’ve got 5 things on my mind…….

ONE – Wine // My most beloved chardonnay vessel of all time.  The glass you can find in my hand 90% of the time you’re in my home.  The other 10% is before 10am when I’m still holding my cherished coffee mug.  Both cups I love equally.  One just spends a little more time in-hand than the other.  Both from one of my favorite places to purchase beverage holders.  Anthropologie!  And guess what?  Anthropologie is having a sale.  It’s unheard of for Anthro to have 25% off ANYTHING + free shipping.  You’re welcome 🙂  You too can have this wine cup-glass-thingy in your hand 90% of the day.  $18 for a set of 4 glasses!

Unfortunately I will not be partaking in my normal weekend pastime, aka chardonnay drinking.  This cold finally got the best of me and I’m currently being medicated for a sinus infection.  Pray for me, K!

Wine Glass – set of 4 ($18) // Homegrown Mug ($6) //

Petal Palette Mug ($7.50 ) // White Monogram Mug ($6)

TWO – Cow Print //  I stumbled on this cow print last week.  I’m totally in love with it and currently trying to figure out a spot I can place it in my home.  You can also get it in color too.  Honestly, I think I prefer the black + white image better.  What do you think?

Oh yeah, and it’s a free printable.  Even better!!

Clink on the link below and print!

THREE – Twinning //  When you find matching tops at Target, you make your kiddo wear it the same day.  And you document that shit.  Thank god she’s still totally into matching me! It’s hard to see in the photos, but we were bumping arm ruffles in the picture.  Love that girl ♥

Both tops combined…under $20!

We both said, spontaneously – my shirt is so cozy.  And cute!

{gift guide for her}

Another day, another gift guide.  Really I just feel like shit and I don’t feel like typing a recipe.  Or taking a #ootd.  Or pretending that I’m all peppy and shit.  So, another gift guide it is.
Once again, ALL tried + true or on my actual wish list for the holidays.
There’s something for the ladies that like to cook.  Lovers of pretty things.  And cute stuff to wear.
Those jams + robe are calling my name right about now.
