{do you kimono}

I love a good kimono.  Duster.  Robe.  Whatever the hell you wanna call it.  Let’s just say kimono, it sounds so much more fancy + formal.

Kimono’s are super versatile.  You can dress up a pair of classic jeans + simple tank by throwing on a kimono.  That’s what I was going for here.

They can be worn at the beach or pool as a swimsuit cover-up.  This one’s for you Mama!  My mom and her girlfriends are leaving for Cabo this weekend….and she’s not stuffing me in her suitcase BTW!  I sent her home with some of my faves to take to with her.  And promised to round-up some good finds before she leaves.

And IF I were knocked up.  Which I 100% am not…Ha!  I got hit with about 8 DM’s + messages after posting the picture of GG on Friday night with her great-grand kids.  I laughed though, I think it’s great that you all thought I was one of the 3!  Nope!  Not happening!

The caption: “Happy 93rd Birthday GG // come December she’s adding 3 new babies for a grand total of 21 great-grand kids ❤️” You can see the post here: Instagram Picture

But, if I were prego, I would also rock the shit out of the kimono!

Even over a solid dress with a long necklace.  Done!

My homegirl Lisa at Salty Lashes posted Top 10 Kimonos last week.  Of course, I love them ALL!  But my wallet doesn’t…lol.  So, I’m doing a little spin-off.

Target Kimono’s.

Ones we can all actually afford.

Possibly even buy 2.

Best part, you can hit Target today and pick it up.  Win-Win!

Let’ take a minute to talk abou the kimono I’m wearing here.  I’m obsessed with the longer (duster) look.  And the crochet detail is so pretty.

Happy Hump Day!  AKA, drink a bottle of wine day to celebrate we’re 1/2 way there day!  Ha!  You guys, we had our challenge this morning at Kaia.  You can read more about it here: {kaia brik goals}  Running is so not my jam, but damn I feel good (and hangry) when it’s done.  If you could have only heard all the voices in my head.  “Fake and injury and walk” or “Don’t walk, you’ll never be able to get back up to speed” or “wonder if anyone would notice if I ran to my car and went home?”  That’s the shit I had to deal with, not once, but three separate times this morning.  In good news, I shaved off over 1 minute from week #1 and I didn’t die!  Ha!

Now I’m, about to get real long winded….I apologize in advance for my random thoughts today……

So I started to write a post on this outfit the other day.  I have the tendency to listen/half-ass watch Instagram stories in the background.  So bad, I know.  Anyway, I was listening to a blogger do an unboxing.  Which, for the record, I think is tacky AF.

I guess I shouldn’t say tacky, because I’ll probably do one next week to stay relevant…lol. But, I watch them every.single.time.  Why?  Do your kids watch the weird ass grown adults on YouTube that unbox American Girl Dolls and toys?  Just fucking weird.

Anyway, she made the comment that ALL her packages were in their home office…to keep them out-of-the-way or something like that.  What really got my attention, was she hadn’t opened a single package in TWO whole weeks?  That’s 14 fucking days!  WTF?  Maybe that’s what happens when you get to be a BIG DEAL?  IDK!

I’m not gonna lie…That’s not how I roll over here.  Most of my online shopping carts at J.Crew + Nordstrom + Target + Madewell are maxed out with hundreds of dollars of clothes.  Technically, I’m not going to buy 90% of them.  But, I like to keep them safe.  Right where I can see them and stalk them.  Then they go out of stock and I kick myself for not pulling the trigger.  Or I decide they aren’t all that cute anymore after looking at them for so damn long.  Then every once in a while, that shit goes on sale and I hit “place order”.

In my head, I already have the outfit planned.  Where I’ll be wearing it.  Who will be there.  Ha.  I’m just keeping it really real.  But, that’s not where it ends.  I then proceed to track my orders like a psycho.  I can pretty much tell you where each of them are in the US at any given time…lol.  Maybe not any given time, but I have an idea.  I get notification emails and shit.  I’m waiting very impatiently.  Like, I wanted that J.Crew top 2 days ago.

Then when I finally get that “Delivered” email….it kills me to not hop in my car and go grab it off my front porch.  Open it up within seconds.  Half the time I completely destroy the box trying to get to the goods.  Then I try it on instantly.  I gotta make sure it’s as good as I’d hoped and dreamed about…Ha!

So, when these bloggers talk about storing their orders/packages for TWO whole weeks, I just don’t get it.  They clearly don’t love their online purchases as much as I do, right?  Ha!

End of rant!

Without further ado, here is one of the many outfits I stalked + waited for 🙂

Hey friends.  It’s Taco Tuesday, so this recipe seemed pretty necessary!  There are a few things I’m passionate about when it comes to Tuesday dinner.

  1. Tacos ALWAYS, tacos
  2. A cold one (bud light lime preferably)
  3. Quick + easy

I’m a Mom with a blog (kinda like a dog with a blog…lol) + a full-time job, so anytime I can come up with a simple way to throw together a healthy dinner….I’m all about it!

Sheet pan recipes are so legit!

Let’s chat about some of my faves…..

Breakfast sheet pans?  Yassss: {sheet pan eggs}

My go-to, even made this last night, {sheet pan sausage + veggies}

I almost forgot about sheet pan sausage + veggies over roasted cauli rice {friday 5} yummm!

I make a mean sheet pan nachos too, Cory + Bay can vouch.  {weekend notes}

Last year I shared a chicken version {sheet pan fajita} Remember that one?

Sheet pans meals are so damn perfect.  One dish and your done!  Clearly, I’m a fan…lol!

I’m also currently HOOKED on Trader Joe’s Wild Argentinian Red Shrimp.  You can grab a bag in the freezer section for $9.99 and they are hands down the best frozen un-cooked shrimp around.  Trust me, okay?!?!

Can we take a moment and taco-bout this taco holder?  I mean, you guys…it’s so necessary…lol!  For $7.99, there was NO way I could pass it up.  You can find them in the Opalhouse section at Target 🙂

Happy Friday!  It’s been a really good week.  A nice calm week.  Just what we needed.  Spent as much time as possible outdoors which makes all the difference in shaking my creative juices up.  So many projects I can’t wait to start.  So many fun ideas for the blog.

Take the weekend to recharge, relax and treat yo self Mama’s!  And I wish you all the happiest Mother’s day!

ONE – Hot Sauce Debate // No doubt, I’m a tap-your-uncle girl.  Tapatio, that is.  It’s my hot sauce of choice…always.  On my eggs.  On my tacos.  On anything, really.  But, recently, I’ve been told that I need to spread my wings a little.  That there are wayy better hot sauces out there?  Say whhhattt?  You know I’m always down to try out new stuff, so next week, we’re going to do a hot sauce taste testing.  Not really sure of the logistics just yet.  So, tell me….what’s your fave hot sauce?  What should I add?

Here’s what I’ve picked up for the Hot Sauce Debate so far…..

Valentina // Srirahca // Cholula // Tapatio

TWO – Madwell Top // I love a good striped tee!  Stripes pretty much go with anything + everything.  You’d die if you saw stripe tee collection in my closet.  I found another good one to add to my selection.  Originally I had a whole post planned for this newby, but when I saw that it was marked down to $29, I decided to scratch that and share it NOW!  This will sell out, and you probably need another one.  You’re welcome!

THREE – Easy Pickled Red Onions // I got lots of DM’s after posting this on insta-stories yesterday.  So, here ya go!  This is a quick-pickled onion recipe.  Cory claims it’s not authentic enough.  lol.  I had all the ingredients on hand.  And they are killer.  I’ve been topping turkey burgers, sandwiches + salads with these bad boys all week.

My homegirl Nikki, she made pickled cabbage for her ahi tuna tacos last night….fucking outstanding.  That will be on my to-make list for next week!

IMG_5183

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Cram all the sliced red onion in a mason jar.  Stick your filled mason jar in the sink, because you will spill and this shit is stinky!

Add all the rest of the ingredients to a sauce pan and bring to a simmer.  Remove from heat.

Pour mixture over the red onions.  Allow to cool.  Then pop them in the fridge.

Enjoy!

FOUR – Coffee Table // Kinda like my dinning table settings, I love styling the coffee table.  I love that it’s a small space.  Also a space that gets a lot of attention.  Stealing items from other rooms to change it up is my jam.  I can’t get enough of baby daisies.  I grab a bunch ($3.99) every time I make a TJ’s trip lately.  I believe they’re called chamomiles.  But, I think baby daisies sounds cuter 🙂  So, here’s what my coffee table currently looks like and I’ve linked all the sources below if you need one of these items for your coffee table look!

Fri-Day!  Planning on taking full advantage of the weekend and get some relaxing in.  Next week is Spring Show….aka shit show.  Only kidding.  It’s just a very busy week.  And a good week.  Bay entered a baked good.  Table setting.  And has a pig.  If you’re looking for us, we’ll be at the fairgrounds.

Weekend plans?  We’re hitting the road.  Camping on the Russian River.  I love camping.  It’s a lot of work and all, but being outdoors, roughin it a little bit.  Drinking from sun up till sun down (the best part in my book)  S’mores.  Sitting around the campfire laughing till your belly hurts.  That’s what we’ll be up too.

Ok, let the weekend begin!

One – Fruit Bowl // Found it.  Actually my Mom found it, within minutes.  I legit scoured Target.com for this wooden pedestal bowl I used in {orange table setting} for about 30 minutes.  I search pedestal.  Wooden bowl.  You name it.  But, fruit bowl?  That’s just dumb Target.  It looks very Pottery Barn-ish with a Target price tag.  Anyway, I got lots of messages about it.  So here ya go….

Turned Wood Fruit Bowl – Threshold

TWO – Polenta Croutons // Same idea as polenta fries.  These crispy little things are the perfect addition to any salad.  I still swear by Robin Nelson’s famous salad.  Mixed greens.  Brianna’s Creamy Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing.  Blue cheese crumbles.  Sliced cherry tomatoes.  Croutons.  The only thing I’ve changed: thinly sliced red onion.  And of course, polenta croutons.  Shake it up in a big trash bag and pour into a salad bowl.  It’s  a crowd pleaser.  When you make this salad, remember to give Robin a shout out!

Polenta Croutons:

  • 18oz tube pre-cooked polenta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan
  • Salt + pepper

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.  Line a baking sheet with foil or a silpat.

Chop polenta into cubes.  Don’t bother making them perfect….just try to keep them about the same size so the cook evenly.

Toss chopped polenta + the rest of the ingredients into a bowl.

Place polenta croutons on prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.

Flip and bake an additional 15 minutes.  Or until golden brown and crisp.

How many polenta croutons should one eat in a sitting?  Asking for a friend.

These little fuckers are dangerous…just FYI!

THREE – Mascara Primer // New Product alert.  I know I say this all the time, but you guys…I found an amazing product.  Mascara Primer.  I’d honestly never even heard of it till last week.  Used this product everyday this week and the only thing I can say: So pissed I didn’t know about this sooner.  It’s life changing!  I coat my eyelashes with primer.  The primer is white, just fyi.  Let it dry for a sec, then top with my STILL fave mascara (L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise)  You’ll never guess how much this primer costs?
