{friday 5}

Oh hey Friday!  Happy to meet you again.  So ready for the weekend.  But first, can we take a minute to talk about this flash back Friday photo my Mom dug up?!?!  A few things.  My hair?  My Mom is a total babe.  Benny is a spitting image of my sis.  My Dad looks like a teenager.  And we’re sitting on the deck at the cabin.  Same place I will be spending this weekend ♥  along with a lot of snow.  It’s always fun to pull up to the cabin anticipating how much snow will actually be on the ground.  I have a feeling we’ll have more than I’m ready to deal with…Ha!  Did I mention, I’m not a fan of the snow…like, at ALL!  Cheers to the weekend friends!

5 things on my mind…..

ONE – The Skinny, Skinny Margarita //  Whenever I order a marg, I always ask for a skinny, skinny marg.  Ha.  I hate sweet.  The less sugar.  The less syrup.  The more tequila….the better.  Am I right?  I want to taste what I’m drinking.  You know when you take that first sip, and you pucker up because it’s so overly sweetened?  Not havin’ it.  So, I think I invented the at home skinny, skinny marg.  Unless some other jerk already has.  But, until then, I’m claiming it!  This is like my second invention in a week!  Remember the roasted cauli rice one last week on {friday 5}?  That was mine too 🙂

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 3 oz Patron Silver (don’t buy the cheap crap)
  • 1/2 cup lime La Croix
  • 1 lime juiced
  • Ice
  • Margarita salt

Run the cut side of the lime along the rim of the glass.  Dip in margarita salt.

In a shaker…or yeti, like I used, combine all ingredients.  Give it a good 15 second shake.

Pour into glass + add a little more ice.

Make another 🙂

Dos margaritas!

TWO – Velvet Tank // Velvet was such a BIG deal this fall/winter.  I was all about it.  As Spring starts showing it’s pretty face, I have a feeling the trend will fade.  But, this velvet tank top wont.  I promise you will continue to see me wearing it any chance I get.  I also layered necklaces for the first time.  Did I do okay?  I’m kinda diggin it.  Now I need some long necklace options.  This one here is from Forever 21 a longgg time ago.  And it’s still alive.  Don’t hate/discriminate on F21 jewelry.  Some pieces will outlive you 🙂

Velvet Tank Top // Ruffle Sleeve Kimono // Wire Wrapped Pendant Necklace  //

Long necklace (Forever 21)

THREE – Oscar Bingo //  I can’t remember a time where I enjoyed the awards season more.  The red carpet fashion.  The stars.  All the movies.  I think watching a lot of the movies that are nominated helped.  I, Tonya.  Lady Bird.  The Post.  COCO.  Wonder.  The Greatest Showman.  The Big Sick.  And just this week we crossed Darkest Hour + Roman J. Isreal, ESQ. off the list too.  Denzel Washington deserves “Best Actor In a Leading Role” for Roman J. Isreal, ESQ.  He was, as always, fantastic!

Super pumped for Sunday’s Oscar Awards.  Bay + I plan to pop some popcorn, bust out some bubbles (for me obvi) + play a friendly game of Oscar BINGO!  Check out these super cute free printable cards I found on Pizzazzerie.   Four different cards so you can play with your kiddos + company.

May the best film win!!

Frrriiiidaaayyyy!  Did you happen to check the weather forecast for mañana?  (I had to google how to do the ñ = Alt + 0241 try it!!)  Sunshine + 70 degrees.  I’ll take it considering it’s going to get cold and possibly rainy next week.  It’s been a very productive week.  Bay got her official 4-H officer shirt.  So cute.  Celebrated Fat Tuesday with a homemade King Cake.  Bay got the baby, so she’s in change of planning the next party/dinner.  Lent is in full swing.  We celebrated Valentine’s day ♥ Bay + I ugly cried for about 1 hr 53 min last night watching Wonder.  SUCH a great movie!  I completed week #1 of Kaia CORE this morning #sore

Speaking of this morning……

Do you ever have a day where you feel like a human garbage disposal?  I’m not sure what the hell happened to me this morning, but I could not stop eating.  Just to hold myself accountable, and so you can probably laugh your ass off.  Here’s what I consumed from 6:15 ish till 11am:

ACV shot

coffee with collagen

egg over leftover roast veggies

handful flaming hot Cheetos (they fell out of the snack bag I was packing for bay’s lunch)

chocolate covered macadamia nut (I totally thought they were gone…score)

another handful flaming hot Cheetos (damnnnn, I forgot how good they are)

package of fruit snacks (while I got ready, duh)

coffee #2

la croix

Atkins Caramel Chocolate Nut Roll (so so good)

Please tell me that this happens to other peeps every now and again?  I’m kinda freaking out…..

And I currently cannot stop thinking about lunch!

Enough of that, I’ve still got 5 things on my mind…..

ONE – Lent //  You guys are NEVER going to guess what I gave up for lent?!?!

No f bombs for 40 days.  FOURTY days!

Every.single.person I’ve told, laughed.  Nobody has any faith in me.  Let’s clarify….does this mean I cannot say bad words.  But, I can still type + text them, right?  Ha.  I’m giving up both.  The f bomb is probably one of my most typed words in my text messages.  My iPhone no longer auto corrects to “ducking”

As recommended, I’m wearing a rubber-band around my wrist and I snap myself when I say/write a bad word.

Bay says my wrists are going to be black + blue by day 40 🙂

I think I got this!  Oh and yesterday’s post didn’t count, since it was written pre-lent 🙂

Bay gave up YouTube.  Which is HUGE for her.  She’s a YouTube junkie.

Pray for us, K!!

{friday 5}

Happy Friday!  I know it’s been a killer of a week.  Last minute shopping + gift wrapping + tying up loose ends at work.  But, we made it!  It’s Friday.  I have a bottle of chardonnay in the fridge waiting for my arrival.  And I cannot wait to enjoy the next 11 days work free!  And guess what peeps?  I’ve pre-blogged so you will still be getting emails everyday next week to your inbox while I’m still snoozing in bed.  And tomorrow – the last Elf on the Damn Shelf – Final days.  Have you planned out the departure of your Elf?  Ha.  Kidding.  Of course you have, probably since December 2nd.

I’ve got 5 things on my mind…..

ONE – Stocking Stuffers // This year, the first year EVER, I nailed it on the stocking.  I normally hit up Target about this time and walk up and down the isles looking for random shit to fill the stocking up.  Not this year.  I’ve been gathering little goodies as Bay mentioned she liked things.  Most things, I even got on sale.  Which is a huge plus.  Stocking stuffers can get expensive AF.  So if you’re in need of some ideas…check out what I grabbed below.  I’ve linked every little item I’m stuffing the stocking with this year.  And Santa gets all the damn credit…lol!

Chocolates // Slippers // Honey // Ruffle Top // Emoji Coin Purse // Pom-Pom Hair tie // Mary’s Angel Ornament // Velvet Hair Bow // 2018 Planner // Amazon Echo Dot // Hand Sanitzer Kit

TWO – Teacher Gifts // I had messages asking for this sooner, and I straight up dropped the ball.  I meant to share this last week and forgot.  This would make for a great hostess gift + homie gift + neighbor gift.  Really anyone, if you ask me.  I know I’d be pumped with Seka Hills products + spiced nuts 🙂  Anyway, this is what Bay took her teachers yesterday.  I’ve already got a request for more of the spiced nuts once school starts back up after the new year.

Seka Hills Olive Oil // Balsamic Vinegar

THREE – The Royals // Raise you’re hand if you’re as obsessed with the Prince Harry + Meghan Markle as I am?  Their engagement photos are everything.  I mean, that dress!  I die!  What a lucky bitch!

{weekend notes}

FullSizeRender (11).jpg

Oh Monday!  I’m not ready to adult yet.  These summer weekends are just passing by way too quickly.  Anyone else agree?

You know that meme, the one that says…..put on some gangster rap and handle it?  Or something like that?  That’s exactly what I did this morning.  Bay + I rocked out to Dr. Dre while we got ready for work + algebra academy.

I’m doing something a little new this week.  Maybe everyweek?

Intentions for the Week:

You know that shit you need/want to do.  I find that when I write/post them, it’s somehow easier to make them happen.

  • drink fucking water (sucked at this…BAD)
  • track ALL food on my fitness pal (on it, this week)
  • deep clean the fridge
  • eat outside (when it’s not 105 degrees) Wayyy too hot for that shit!
  • keep basil plant alive…HELP! (I’m happy to report…it’s still alive)
  • make a donation run
  • NO online shopping (already failed…FML.  I blame it on the J.Crew sale)
  • chill out on the peanut butter
  • go for walks/bike rides after dinner (maybe this week?)
  • make gluten-free brownies
  • delete old photos on iPhone
  • go to Morgan’s Mill (Saturday morning, this is happening!!)
  • use all the veggies in Farm Fresh delivery (just a handful of cherry tomatoes left)
I’ve got my fingers crossed this does the trick!  I’ll keep you posted!

Here’s some highlights from the weekend…..

Tahoe //

I spent another weekend in Tahoe.  This time with some of my girlfriends.  We’ve been attending the Celebrity Golf Tournament for a few years now…it’s become our fun weekend.

hangovers are temporary….have fun!

First stop – You’ll never believe it?!?!  Strawberry Lodge!

{friday 5}

Happy Friday, friends!  What a whirlwind of a week.  The weekend has arrived and I’m happy AF about it.

Here’s what I’ve got on my mind…..

ONE – Notes // If you’ve been reading for a while, then you know how much I love notes. I came home from Tahoe Wednesday to find this on my counter. With grilled chicken in the fridge. Enough that I was able to live off it for lunch + dinner the rest of the week.  I plan to repay Dad next week with a delicious delivery in his fridge. And a note to go with it.

It really is the little things!!

TWO – It’s a…..

{weekend notes}

Good morning and welcome to Monday’s Weekend Notes!  I woke up with a healthy dose of panic this morning.  My to-do list for the week is at an all time high in preparation for the long weekend.  Today I’m taking the advice I give Bay…..take it one step at a time and start with the most difficult item first.  Monday is always a bit of a beast, but Friday will be here before we know it and it will all be worth it!  Here’s to a productive day.  Hope you’re off to a great start!  Be a rebel and have a great day!

Love watching my nephews play ball.  Friday was Joe’s last game of the season.

Bailey was recruited to make the cake for Spencer’s Baptism Saturday.  She said YESSS, before she even knew what the baking task would be.

The naked carrot cake is back and more beautiful than ever.  I even invested in some new Wilton 8 inch pans.  Which made baking a breeze.

I have become a professional taste tester…lol.

Baby Spencer was baptized over the weekend.  We were so happy to be a part of the special day.  Even though I got lost on my way to the church.  Ha.  Only me.  How do you get lost in Winters?  The after party was a good one, as always.

Bay + Spencer ♥

{friday 5}

Welcome back, FRIDAY!!  I think I can speak for everyone when I say we misssssed you!  This week was pretty standard…..appointments + meetings + barn duty + etc…with all that aside, it was an interesting week.  I cant help but smile and laugh thinking about the way life has a funny way of working itself out, ya know?  I clearly don’t have it all figured out, that’s for fucking sure, but constantly reminding myself to trust the timing of my life and that I’m right where I’m supposed to be.  Little deep for a Friday?  Yessss…

Enough about that shit!  The best part of this weekend?  We have almost zero plans.  Sleeping in.  Coffee in my pj’s.  Lot’s of baking for Miss Bailey, I’m sure.  Dinner in the backyard.  Did you see the weather forecast?!?!  Bring on the weekend!!

First I’ve got 5 things on my mind……

ONE – #myoshproject // OSH is hosting another Kids class.  Leprechaun Lantern Nightlight making.  So cute, right?  I showed Bay and she looked at me like, Mom – I’m wayyyy too old for that.  But, little does she know, she will be going.  Ha.  I know she will secretly dig it too!

TWO – Please tell me you read Chrissy Teigen’s Open Letter that was released Monday morning?  As if I needed one more reason to love the perfect bitch!  She may be known for her modeling, but she’s also funny AF, a fellow chronic over-sharer, no-filter opinionated, full of hilarious jokes and cooks like a fucking boss.  This article is so real and raw, I even teared up a little….read it!!!

Click on the link below for the full article…..

Chrissy Teigen Open Letter

Chrissy Teigen, 31, is many things: a Sports Illustrated cover girl, a New York Times best-selling cookbook author, a host of the Emmy-nominated TV series Lip Sync Battle and the soon-to-be designer of a fashion line with Revolve. But she’s best known for what her husband, John Legend, calls her: “smart mouth.” She opines on everything from politics to stretch marks, 140 characters a time on Twitter. And her commentary is often so “you took the words out of my mouth!” that all you have to do is hit RT and add the word “PREACH.”

What women love about Teigen is that she is, as she admits, “an open book.” She will show off a perfect seared duck breast—and tell you she accidentally sliced off her fingertip on a mandoline. Ask her about the wildest place she’s had sex? She’ll answer. (An airplane.) She approaches any topic with that same raw, real candor.

But there’s one thing she hasn’t shared yet: After giving birth to her daughter, Luna, last April, Teigen developed postpartum depression, a condition affecting one in nine women, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In this exclusive essay forGlamour, she talks about her experience, why she kept it private, and how she’s doing now. And she is as raw and real as ever. Over to you, Chrissy.

THREE – Stir-Fry //  I grabbed a Taylor Farms Stir-Fry Kit at the grocery store last week.  I was looking at the bagged chopped salads (currently obsessed) and I spotted these kits.  Shortcut alert!!!  You know, sometimes the idea of trying to be creative with veggies is exhausting?  I make the same ol stir-fry with asparagus + chicken.  It’s good and all, but its the same thing every time.  These are packed with shaved brussels sprouts + kale.  I would never use that combo on my own.  They each come with a sauce packet too.  Just add your protein (like shrimp + chicken + steak) and bam…dinner in 5 minutes.  seriously!  I served our Teriyaki Stir-Fry with leftover shredded rotisserie chicken over Trader Joes’s brown rice.  BOMB!  You can find them in the bagged salad section at your grocery store.  They are $3 something each!!

Ginger Garlic // Madrain Orange // Sesame Chili // Teriyaki
