{friday 5}

The weekend has finally arrived.  Is it just me, or was this week a doozy?  Between Bay + I, we had someplace to be each night after school + work.  Grocery shopping is done.  House is clean.  Gas tank is full.  (you know how happy those things make me) I’m ready to power down my desktop and get in full weekend mode.

Probably sweatpants + a skinny, skinny marg + DVR…let’s be real!

First let’s chat about what I’ve got on my mind this fine Friday afternoon……

ONE – Easter Basket //  Or St. Patrick’s Day Basket?  Or both!  Bay spotted this basket a couple of weekends back while browsing the isles at World Market.  She loves the store as much as I do.  She scooped it up and reminded me she “needs” a new Easter Basket.  Her adorable (super expensive) white pottery barn basket that she’s had for yearrrrssss mysteriously went missing.  I said no.  Then she said, “but it’s only $9.99!”  Ha….obvi I said yes.  It’s so unique and fun.  Wouldn’t it be perfect for a Farmer Market basket?  Or I may use it around the house for decor.  Anyway, Bay is with baby daddy this weekend, so we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day a day early.  Each year I collect a bunch of inexpensive (I spent about $7 total) green goodies that Bay loves.  “It’s a tradition!”  I heard her explain to the carpool girls this morning ♥

I’m already on the hunt for cute Easter Basket goodies.  I’ll be sharing soon.

TWO – 4-H Officer //  Each month, before the 4-H meeting, we get an email with the meeting agenda, details on upcoming events and get to know your officers.  Bay was one of them this month.  Did you read it?  Be still my heart ♥

I followed up and asked her if it was a trick question.  She said, “No, I just couldn’t think of anyone else off the top of my head”

I’ll take it!

And I’ll remind her when she goes to college and I visit weekly for a dinner date!

THREE – Lip Sleeping Mask // HOLD THE PHONE!  Do you have dry chapped winter lips?  I know I’m always saying, this is the besssttt product ever.  Ha.  I really only share the stuff I truly love.  There are many times I order something or try something and don’t love it.  So, I don’t share it.  I’ve had messages before saying I love everything.  Nope, just the stuff I share 🙂  And this is HIGH on my LOVE LIST!  I’ve been using this lip mask every night since it arrived.  I do a lip scrub.  Rinse.  Then lather this mask on with the applicator right before bed.  Wake up and my lips are so soft and smooth.  I’m a believer.  My homegirl (she doesn’t know it yet) Lisa Allan raved about this product.  I googled it.  Bought it on Amazon to save a buck or two (I’m so cheap) Not realizing it was coming from frickin China.  After 4 weeks, it finally arrived on my doorstep.  So, don’t do what I did.  Buy this stuff from Sephora like a normal person and fall in love.

{asparagus salad}

Today, is the day.  I can finally share my asparagus salad recipe without cringing while I type “what you’ll need!”  Ha!  Writing about food ALL last week was a total buzz kill.  I had no idea I’d feel that way.  Just goes to show, I need to write about ALL THE THINGS….not just one topic.  Thank god I didn’t start this blog as a food blog.  This space would most likely be retired by now.

The perfect mix of lifestyle + fashion + exploring + food keeps me feeling creative and excited to share.  So, I think I’ll keep it that way for the future.  What do you think?  Are you into the mix?  Or do you click on my link just for a recipe?  Or outfit idea?  Now I’m curious 🙂

So, I realized this salad should be named the Rainbow Salad or something much cooler than Asparagus Salad.  Don’t you think?  I was telling Bay how important it is to eat a variety of colors.  Fresh colors.  Not red doritos and green fruit snacks…lol.  She said, kinda like the rainbow.  Yes!  Yes, like the rainbow.  Whenever my plate is full of color it makes me happy.  That normally means, it’s fresh, healthy….and pretty!  If it’s pretty (aka instagram worthy) then I’m definitely trying it.

This salad is all those things!  I actually saw this on and instagram story.  I screen shot it and recreated it.  And now I feel like jerk, because I can’t remember who created it so I could give some recipe cred.

Anyone else have a camera roll full of instagram screen shots?  I just figured out how to make folders.  Totally off topic…we’ll chat about that later.  Maybe next week?

Since it is officially asparagus season, we’ll stick with Asparagus Salad.  Have you noticed how ridiculously cheap you can get a bunch now?  I grabbed this large (skinny) bunch from Pedrick Produce for $1.29.  So, I knew I had to make asparagus something.  I’m thinking asparagus soup next?  Doesn’t that sound killer?  Maybe roast it, then puree it?  Now my wheels are turing.

This salad also gave me a reason to bust out my The Quails & Olive goodies my homegirl Nicole gave me.  She visited the store in Carmel Valley and bought me the Champagne Mimosa Vinegar + Lemon Olive Oil duo.  The combination is unreal.  I’d never even heard of champagne vinegar.  And I’d been on the search for a good lemon olive oil after tasting it at a restaurant in downtown Berkeley.  I believe you can find lemon olive oil at Nugget now.  Try it!  BIG THANK YOU Nicole!!!  Love you mucho!

You can totally use regular olive oil + red wine vinegar for this recipe.  It will be equally delicious!

{trader joes cauliflower crust pizza}

Day #2 of the Trader Joe’s recipe round-up!

Also, day #3 of my 6th grade field trip hostage situation.

Only kidding.  I actually signed up to do this!

I wrote this post last week, so I’m sure right now I’m dying for a shower + my bed + a big ass glass of chard.  Ha!  Maybe not.  Maybe I’m enjoying the hell out of the slug snail trailing across my face.  Who knows?!?!

Remember a couple of weeks ago, when I insta storied my cauliflower pizza experience?  I had TONS of DM’s asking how the crust turned out.

I Stacy Brown, self proclaimed pizza connoisseur, make this solid promise to you, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part…. (that was a little much)

I didn’t miss the traditional crust at all.  Not even for a second.

But, you HAVE to promise me one thing….

You HAVE to follow the pre-cooking process to achieve the best crust ever!

Trader Joe’s products used to create this meal:

  • Cauliflower Pizza Crust
  • Shaved brussles sprouts (the remainder from the halibut tacos)
  • Prosciutto
  • Vegan kale, cashew & basil pesto (this stuff is to die for)

*remember, I hate to waste food.  I decorate with herbs that I’m working with that week.  I utilize all produce purchase.  If it begins to wilt.  Roast it.  If it’s freezable…freeze it!  Throw it over greens.  Smother it in ranch.  Just use it.  For instance, the prosciutto, I baked the remaining of it.  Bay likes to snack on it for breakfast, kinda like bacon.  The shaved brussels sprouts.  I bought them for this pizza recipe, but decided to use them of a slaw on the halibut tacos too.  Instead of buying a package of slaw too.  Think ahead.  End of rant!

Take a look at that pizza ♥

{spring table + rose napkin fold}

In celebration of March, today I’m sharing my Spring table setting.  Setting a pretty table has become one of my favorite seasonal projects.  Simple + clean.  Lots of white.  And it’s always fun to shop my own house for different pieces to finish the table off.
A set table makes the home feel so welcoming.
And nothing sets the Spring tone like a bright cheery room.
Keep scrolling to check out all the details…..
Bay even helped me with this one too!  I’m rubbing off on her…Ha!
She rolled all the rose napkins.  Perfectly.  She knows how I roll….lol.
Farmers Market flowers were my favorite find last Saturday.  Super unique.
Once these begin to wilt, I’ll probably grab a couple of bunches of eucalyptus to replace it.
Fresh rosemary + thyme tied with bakers twine.  As soon as the candle was lit, I could smell the fresh herbs.  Such a fun touch.  The thyme wilts quickly.  If you decide to try this at home.  Either stick with rosemary for a longer lasting look.  Or do this the day of, if you’re having peeps over.  Either way, I love using anything fresh I can get my hands on.  I have rosemary planted out back.  Fresh thyme was leftover from a recipe.  I also love using up things I already have in the fridge.
I wanted a layered look without chargers or extra on the table.  I bought this plate set at Walmart yearrrrsss ago.  It’s from the Better Homes and Garden collection.  Which is still available.  I have 2 sets making an 8 piece place setting.  They are great quality and don’t have a single chip.

{friday 5}

Frrriiiidaaayyyy!  Did you happen to check the weather forecast for mañana?  (I had to google how to do the ñ = Alt + 0241 try it!!)  Sunshine + 70 degrees.  I’ll take it considering it’s going to get cold and possibly rainy next week.  It’s been a very productive week.  Bay got her official 4-H officer shirt.  So cute.  Celebrated Fat Tuesday with a homemade King Cake.  Bay got the baby, so she’s in change of planning the next party/dinner.  Lent is in full swing.  We celebrated Valentine’s day ♥ Bay + I ugly cried for about 1 hr 53 min last night watching Wonder.  SUCH a great movie!  I completed week #1 of Kaia CORE this morning #sore

Speaking of this morning……

Do you ever have a day where you feel like a human garbage disposal?  I’m not sure what the hell happened to me this morning, but I could not stop eating.  Just to hold myself accountable, and so you can probably laugh your ass off.  Here’s what I consumed from 6:15 ish till 11am:

ACV shot

coffee with collagen

egg over leftover roast veggies

handful flaming hot Cheetos (they fell out of the snack bag I was packing for bay’s lunch)

chocolate covered macadamia nut (I totally thought they were gone…score)

another handful flaming hot Cheetos (damnnnn, I forgot how good they are)

package of fruit snacks (while I got ready, duh)

coffee #2

la croix

Atkins Caramel Chocolate Nut Roll (so so good)

Please tell me that this happens to other peeps every now and again?  I’m kinda freaking out…..

And I currently cannot stop thinking about lunch!

Enough of that, I’ve still got 5 things on my mind…..

ONE – Lent //  You guys are NEVER going to guess what I gave up for lent?!?!

No f bombs for 40 days.  FOURTY days!

Every.single.person I’ve told, laughed.  Nobody has any faith in me.  Let’s clarify….does this mean I cannot say bad words.  But, I can still type + text them, right?  Ha.  I’m giving up both.  The f bomb is probably one of my most typed words in my text messages.  My iPhone no longer auto corrects to “ducking”

As recommended, I’m wearing a rubber-band around my wrist and I snap myself when I say/write a bad word.

Bay says my wrists are going to be black + blue by day 40 🙂

I think I got this!  Oh and yesterday’s post didn’t count, since it was written pre-lent 🙂

Bay gave up YouTube.  Which is HUGE for her.  She’s a YouTube junkie.

Pray for us, K!!

{friday 5}

You guys, today is a great day.  Not only because it’s FRIDAY!  I mean, yes, that’s great!!  But, guess what national day it is?  National PIZZA Day!  And I did my final BRIK weigh-in this morning.  So, you best believe this ol girl will be partaking in the national day!  I’m thinking Masullo’s ♥

Ok, in other great news – my co-worker that I’ve been covering for is BACK!  Thank you sweet baby Jesus.  After 3 crazy ass weeks, my life as it once was, is officially BACK!  I’ve been MIA, scatter-brained, tired and busy.  Not a good combo, let me tell you!

So, let’s re-cap.  I lost weight.  F yes!  It’s Friday!  Double hell yeah!  National Pizza Day!!  And I’m not stressed the F out.  Today is going to be a damn good day!

Believe it or not, I still have a few more things on my mind……

ONE – Breakfast // I have a new favorite breakfast. It’s just too good not to share.  Spiralized sweet potato.  Arugula.  Egg.  Topped with a little tap-your-uncle (tapatio) + 2 slices of avocado.  Pure heaven!

When I do my weekly meal prep….hard boil eggs.  Wash/chop/prep veggies.  Make dressings/dips.  Bay’s morning muffins.  I spiralize a sweet potato.  Throw it in a container and grab a handful each morning.

It’s such a great combo.  The arugula gets a little crunchy and the sweet potato makes is so fulling and delish.

Ohhh, and a new kitchen gadget that I’ve been cooking my eggs in.  The Misto.  It’s an olive oil sprayer.  You fill it with your fave olive oil.  Give it a pump and coat your pan or veggies.  Straight up game changer.

TWO – Bralette // If you’re an off the shoulder gal, but not the strapless bra kinda gal….this is SOOO for you.  A pretty crochet strap popping out is totally acceptable.  And I actually prefer it.  This is the Free People Adella.  She comes in 6 color options.  Which was the hardest part of buying this bralette.  Not only is beautiful, but super comfy too.  I can’t wait to rock this under tank tops this summer!

{shaved brussels sprout salad}

I’m really into salads right now.  I go through salads kicks from time to time and eat them every. single. day.  Then I get so burnt out. Currently they are my jam.  Especially trying out different ingredients other than plain ol mixed greens like I tend to reach for.

I got a new one for you today.  It’s quick + easy + so fresh!

This was also approved by my Mom ♥

Always leaving her a Tupperware full of a new recipes to try out and give me her review.

Raise your hand if you’re a Trader Joe’s lover?

Sometimes, I spend my entire lunch break walking up and down the isles browsing all the beautiful food.  Ha.  I really do.  Then you can’t forget to grab a bunch of stems on your way out.  It’s a must!

They legit have the best ingredients + produce.  So many hidden gems.  I follow TJ’s on instagram and they’ll share a new item.  You bet your ass I’m making a trip that week to grab that item and try it out.

Anyway, this is another TJ’s recipe!  I gathered all my ingredients from Trader Joe’s.  I’m sure you can find shaved brussels sprouts + romano caesar dressing other places too.
