It’s Friday (hu-frickin-ray)!  Honestly, it’s really hard to believe October is coming to an end next week.  I feel like I cannot keep up with this year?  Anyone else?  I’ve got the Holidays on my mind BIG TIME.  I’ve started shopping too.  Which is one of my Holiday goals.  And after the Serendipity Boutique + bella moda boutique Christmas Preview last night, my wheels are spinning.

Weekend plans: My to-do list is staring me down.  It’s been growing longer each day this week.  I’ve been so swamped with work, I hardly have time to check my email or order my groceries.  I’ve been on survival mode…lol.  Tonight Bay and I are having a date night.  Mani’s + pizza + watching La La Land (she hasn’t seen it yet).  I can’t wait to sleep in.  Spend some time with friends.  Possibly get wine tips with Alex.  Maybe church?  God knows I need a little church in my life.

Before I let you get your weekend started, let me quickly chat about 5 things on my mind…..

ONETurkey On The Table //  Kinda like Elf on the Damn Shelf, but for Thanksgiving.  Except, it’s not a pain in the ass at all.  And you don’t have to move it daily.  So, basically it’s nothing like Elf on The Damn Shelf…lol.  It’s more of a lesson on being grateful.  I’m all about gratitude.  I actually started practicing it daily, thanks for #last90days challenge.  Here’s how it works…for every day in November, write down something you are thankful for on the paper feather.  Each family member can take turns or everyone can write on the same one.  It’s totally up to you.  Place it somewhere that you’ll see it.  On Thanksgiving day, you’ll have a “fully dressed” turkey to display.  You can then read all the thankful feathers aloud.  It’s such a cute idea.  And the best part, for each Turkey on The Table purchased, 10 meals will be provided to someone in need through Feeding America.

TWO – Currently Reading // I had to ditch my last audio book.  So many great reviews, but the voice-over was absolutely terrible.  If you’re an audio book listener, then you get it.  Picked up Reese Witherspoons new Whiskey in a Teacup : What Growing Up in the South Taught Me About Life, Love, and Baking BiscuitsBest part, she’s actually the reader of her own book.  Which I don’t think I’ve ever seen before?  Anyway, it’s so cute and lighthearted…I’m really diggin it.  I also grabbed Chrissy Teigen’s newest cookbook Cravings: Hungry for More And she nailed it.  Everything looks so good.  I can’t wait to dive into it more this weekend and dog ear some pages to add to my “must make list!”  What are you reading?  Anything good I should add to my list next?

ONECapper’s Refreshers // Always down to show some support for new businesses in town.  Formerly Stacked N’ Brewed turned Capper’s Refreshers.  Took Bay into the new establishment last night for a sweet treat.  She had an excellent day and there’s no better way to top it off than ice cream!  Except this isn’t actual ice ceam….it’s “shaved snow” with all the toppings served in  a waffle come.  Sprinkled with gold dust.  Looks like ice cream.  Tastes like ice cream.  I’m straight up SOLD on the shaved snow.  Try the “Dexter’s Delight” sans blueberries (because who likes them anyway) and you too will be in heaven.  Can’t wait to stop back in and try one of their meals.  Everything looked fantastic.  Go show your love for the new restaurant and let’s keep them around!!!

Xhilaration Crochet Top Tie Dye Maxi Dress

Hey friends!  You know when you have that week (or in my case weeks) where nothing goes smoothly?  You stay up late over thinking.  Or watching + reading about the border separations.  Which makes you wayyy too tried to hit the 5 am gym time?  Then you eat like shit, drink wayy too much, start breaking out, act like a total bitch and feel bad for yourself?   That’s basically been me for the last two weeks.  Then you go to Target and buy a new dress to make yourself feel better?  It works, don’t get me wrong.  It really does the trick for me.  Temporarily.  This dress I’m wearing right here?  I picked this up on one of my many shop your feelings away days.  HA!  I’m not looking for sympathy what so ever!  It’s life!  I’m totally fine!

So, on Friday, I chatted a for a sec about the book I’m currently hooked on, Girl, Go Wash Your Face!  Thanks to this book, I feel SO MUCH BETTER!

I know your rolling your eyes right now.  I did too!  Every time I heard someone praise this book.

Then the library sent me an alert that the audio book I requested MONTHSSSSS ago, was available for pick up.

Popped it in the CD player while still parked in front of the Woodland Public Library.  And the rest is history.  Haven’t turned it off since.

Hey Girl, Hey!  It’s Friday!  Weekend plans: eat pizza + watch movies (we rented 3) + lay by the pool + celebrate Father’s Day + volunteer + kayak.  A little bit of everything.  Super looking forward to all the things we’ve got on our agenda.  Don’t you love it when that happens?  Whatever you’ve got planned for the next two day, enjoy it.  Have a good one friends!

What to know what’s on my mind this Friday?  I’m just going to take up a hot second of your time…..

ONE –  Volleyball Camp // Today was the last day of the week-long Pioneer Volleyball Camp.  This was Bay’s first year and she absolutely loved it.  BIG thank you to Carrie + my Mom for getting her to + from while I’m stuck at work.  You guys, I swear she grew another inch this week too.  Today, she actually borrowed one of my workout tops.  And….it fit her.  WTF is happening?

TWO – Food Find // Trader Joe’s Salad Topper.  Ingredients: Sliced almonds + roasted pepitas + salt + white sesame seeds + black sesame seeds + nigella seeds + crushed red pepper.  $3.99 for 8 individual packets.  Basically 50 cents per salad.  So far I’ve sprinkled this topping over eggs + tuna + salads.  So good!

THREE – Holy Housewives // Did you watch the trailer for season 13 of Orange County?  What a shit show!  Bravo added three new housewives (that’s including Vicki and her new face HA).  Set your DVR for Monday, July 16th!  From the looks of the video below, it’s going to be a good season!

The Real Housewives of Orange County Gina Kirschenheiter Emily Simpson Shannon Beador Vicki Gunvalson Tamra Judge Kelly Dodd

Can I get an Amen for Friday!!!  I don’t know about you, but I AM SPENT!  This first week of school, Bay’s 11th birthday + the eclipes (Ha) + packing has killed me a little  Just a little, but today is Friday!  We’re hitting the road for a final-final summer adventure.  And then it’s a wrap folks.

But first I’ve got 5 things on my mind…..

ONE – Back to school // This coloring page is everything.  Bay literally finished it in 2.5 minutes.  For the first time, since she started elementary school, she told me she was too old to do her back to school coloring page.  FML!  She did it anyway.  She must have seen the look on my face.  I almost cried.  Anyway, I have saved these year after year.

She said the worst thing in her lunch was a pickle.  I find that funny, considering she LOVES pickles…lol!  What a brat.

Click below and have your kiddo fill on of these out!  It’s a keeper

TWO – I Fought The Law // Total pre-ordered this book.  It caught my eye and I’m so intrigued.  Beautiful photographs of the strangest laws from each of the 50 states.

Strange, outdated laws from each of the 50 U.S. states—some overturned, some still on the books, and some merely the stuff of legends—are depicted with sly wit by Olivia Locher. Incisive, ironic, and gorgeous, these images will appeal to art buffs and trivia fans alike. A foreword from American poet Kenneth Goldsmith and an interview with the artist by Eric Shiner, former director of the Andy Warhol Museum, contextualize rising-star Locher’s photography. From serving wine in teacups in Kansas to licking a toad in Kentucky or perming a child’s hair in Nebraska, breaking the law has never looked so good.

For instance: In California, it is illegal to ride a bike in a swimming pool.

{bacon burger bites}

IMG_9996.JPG

Mini bacon burgers layered on a bamboo skewer, with lettuce + tomatoes + pickles.  Who can resist that combo on a stick?  Not me!!  OR Bay!

These make the perfect low-carb dinner or appetizer.

IMG_9997.JPG

I recently grabbed a copy of Danielle Walker’s Against all Grain Celebrations cookbook.  So many beautiful + healthy recipes.  I want to make everything.  This one caught Bay’s eye.  She’s not a bun girl.  And anything on a toothpick is so cool to a 10-year-old.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again….LONGEST short week in the history of short weeks.  Anyone else with me?  I still have all the same shit to get done, but with 1 less day to accomplish said shit.  Therefore I’m sooooo ready for the W E E K E N D!  I have good plans.  Movie + Girlfriends + Tequilla + Antique Faire.

Enough of my ramble….I still have 5 more things on my mind……

ONE – You guys…..I spilled an entire swell bottle in my purse.  According to Bay, I’m really lucky I didn’t have wine it my swell bottle this time.  This is true!  A wine drenched purse/wallet would be much, much worse.  I’m talking everything.  Medical/dental cards.  Money.  Checkbook.  Checkbook register that is no longer legible.

I went to the 76 Station to get my cherry chap stick (I cannot live without it).  I lent my old one to Bay in Tahoe and god knows, I do NOT share my cherry chap stick.  Long story short, my homie at the 76 station, told me “Stacy, your money is wet!”  I explained what happened.  He was very unimpressed.  Basically told me “I no take wet money, come one Stacy.”  So I gave him my debit card and went along with my merry wet wallet day.  Moral of the story, DO not lay a swell bottle ontop of your wallet in your purse.  EVER!  Worst part, it’s kinda Karma…FML!

TWO –  I’m gathering + prepping for the beginning of my 20-day no sugar detox.  Not really a detox.  Just ridding added sugar from my diet.  I had such great results the last time I tried it for a few days before Hawaii.  I found this recipe for slow cooker marinara sauce….it’s from Daily Dose of Pepper.  Zero smart points (for weight watchers peeps) + 60 calories per 1/2 cup of sauce.  Not bad, huh.  Best part – it’s BOMB.  You can adjust the spice to your desire too.

FullSizeRender (2).jpg

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 3 (28 oz) cans crushed tomatoes, no salt added
  • 1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 red onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons dried basil
  • 1-2 teaspoons red pepper flakes (stick to 1 tsp if you don’t like spice)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

Here’s what you’ll do:

Mix all ingredients in your slow cooker.  Put the slow cooker in your garage.  Unless you want your house and clothes to smell like an Italian restaurant for the next 2 days.

Set to low for 8 hours.

If you like a smoother sauce, (like me) once sauce has cooled.  Blend in a food processor (in batches this recipe makes A LOT) until smooth.

Freeze in freezer bags what you don’t plan to use right away.

I have a couple of meals next week I plan to whip this sauce out for.  Stay tuned!!

THREE –  The Golden Globes are on this Sunday!  Bay + I have an award show game we like to play.  Popcorn BINGO.  Check out this one that I found.  Best Dressed!!  I mean, If you’re anything like us, you’re watching for the amazing gowns + fashion too.  Remember to saved a few pieces of popcorn to use as your dauber….lol.

I’m sure we will see tons of Off-the-shoulder + backless + red!!  So excited!

Scroll below for the free printable link.  It has 8 different cards too.

Golden Globes BINGO

FOUR –  American Eagle Soft + Sexy Double Lace Cami // Guess how much I paid in-store?  $9.00!  So good I bought two!!  I was looking for something that was just a little more than the basic cami.  Clearly for layering since its cold AF right now.   Super flattering silhouette.  Fitted at the chest, then flows, almost flaring at the waist.  The plunging neckline is beautiful, and not too revealing for small chested gals, like myself.  It’s lined in lace, not only on the front, but the back too.

happy-friday.jpg

Happy Friday!!  Is it just me, or did this week fly by?  I’m not by any means complaining!!  It’s Friday, my fave day of the week and I’m ready for the weekend.  One of my homies (friends since 2nd grade) is coming to Woodlone today and I’m pumped to kick it with her.

ONE – Remember yesterday on my {fall to-do’s}

  • Make 3 outfits that are out of my comfort zone?

I’d say I’ve achieved one of the three!  No, it’s not a onesie. It’s a bodysuit.  Yes, I bought a bodysuit.  Totally out of my comfort zone, but guess what???  It’s so fucking cute.  Scroll down and check out the back of the top.  It’s the most flattering cutout and allows you to still wear a bra without the straps showing.

FullSizeRender.jpg

It’s marked down to $18 today!  And it comes in a wine red color too.  I’ve already wore it once and might pop it on tonight too.  Looks perf with denim and how about a skirt?  shorts?  (I mean it is still like 90 degrees in California)

AEO RIBBED BODY SUIT

American Eagle is on fire right now.  So much cute shit.  Check out all the other bodysuit options they offer….OMG!  The long-sleeved lace has my name all over it!!

This isn’t even half of them.  Click here to view them ALL!

TWO – Jack-O-Lantern Stuffed Bell Pepper // I had too.  I had leftover turkey + chicken sausage meat sauce + orange bell peppers sitting in the fridge, so what else would one do?  Busted out the Martha Stewart x-acto knife and started carving away.

fullsizerender-5

Once I had my jack-o-lantern all carved out, I layered:

  • meat sauce
  • chopped baby spinach leaves
  • pesto
  • fresh mozzarella cheese (not the bagged shit)
  • repeat

Baked in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.  So easy and so festive.  Bailey isn’t a fan of bell peppers?!?!  Crazy, I know!  She dumped the filling out on her plate and ate it without the jack-o-lantern.  I scarfed the whole damn thing in about 2.5 minutes flat.

Speaking of Jack-O-Lanterns….

images.jpg

#idim (I did it myself) how cute is that.  Gotta remember that one.

Oh Friday….how I’ve been waiting so patiently for you!  Cheers to the weekend!

This morning someone said to me “TFI Friday.”  Every heard of it?

TFI Friday – abbreviation: ‘thank fuck it’s Friday’
Thank you Urban Dictionary!!   I love it and wish I invented it.  I will be using it on a weekly from now on!
Because it’s Friday and I’ve got 5 things on my mind……
ONE – Purple Thunder // You guys, Bailey is a Volleyball player!!  She really could not care less about sports, so I was shocked when she asked to play volleyball.  Especially a team sport.  She’s more of the swim team, gymnastics, horseback ridding type.  Well, her first game was last night.  She was so nervous.  I was shocked.  She’s probably THE most confident little girl I’ve ever known.  Not sure if it’s her age or if this is the sport that might be the one she actually likes.  For the first time, she really truly cared.  She tried her best and I’m so proud of her.  Not to mention the Purple Thunder kicked butt last night and won by a landslide, which also makes it fun to watch!

(Photo cred: Greta)
TWOAmy Schumer The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo //  Do you like to laugh?  Do you like pure honesty with lots of vulgar shit thrown in?  Yeah, me too.  It was almost like talking to a best friend, kinda.  Many of her life stories are so fucking unbelievable.  That shit really happened?  Dammnnnn!  OMG, when she reads excerpts from her old diaries with footnotes…I almost die!
Is it possible this book made my like Amy even more?  YES!
My favorite part thus far….”44 Things You Don’t Know About Me.”  One of those things just so happens to be the number of people she’s slept with.  “To date, I’ve slept with 28 people.  I can’t remember all their names, but I do remember the nicknames I gave them: Third Ball, Pit Bull, Cousin Steve…jk jk jk.”
This book is
Relatable 🙂
Abrasive
Raw
Deep
Real
Read it peeps!!
amy-schumer.jpg
THREE – Embroidered Maxi Dress // It was love at first sight when I spotted this dress.  I clearly have a thing for embroidered anything.  It’s high-waisted, which is uber flattering.  The detail is beyond unique.  The fit is perfection.  The bold orange is everything.  You just can’t help but feel pretty in this maxi.  Everytime I type maxi I automatically picture a maxipad in my head…ewww.  Anyway!  It can 100% be dressed up for a wedding.  Or dressed down with a denim jacket.  I’ve worn it both ways.  I know it’s time to start buying sweaters and boots, but I wouldn’t pass this one up.  Price Tag: $29.99.  Told ya!
