Xhilaration Crochet Top Tie Dye Maxi Dress

Hey friends!  You know when you have that week (or in my case weeks) where nothing goes smoothly?  You stay up late over thinking.  Or watching + reading about the border separations.  Which makes you wayyy too tried to hit the 5 am gym time?  Then you eat like shit, drink wayy too much, start breaking out, act like a total bitch and feel bad for yourself?   That’s basically been me for the last two weeks.  Then you go to Target and buy a new dress to make yourself feel better?  It works, don’t get me wrong.  It really does the trick for me.  Temporarily.  This dress I’m wearing right here?  I picked this up on one of my many shop your feelings away days.  HA!  I’m not looking for sympathy what so ever!  It’s life!  I’m totally fine!

So, on Friday, I chatted a for a sec about the book I’m currently hooked on, Girl, Go Wash Your Face!  Thanks to this book, I feel SO MUCH BETTER!

I know your rolling your eyes right now.  I did too!  Every time I heard someone praise this book.

Then the library sent me an alert that the audio book I requested MONTHSSSSS ago, was available for pick up.

Popped it in the CD player while still parked in front of the Woodland Public Library.  And the rest is history.  Haven’t turned it off since.

{floral + herb smudge stick diy}

Image-1 (3).png

You know about the smudge sticks, yes?  You know the bundles of dried sage that hippies like to burn?  It’s not just for hippies anymore.  Or maybe I’m becoming a hippie?  Who knows, but I’m all about it.

So what if we made our own with herbs + flowers?  They are so damn pretty, even if you don’t burn them and displayed just for looks.  Although, you should totally burn them (that’s the hippie in me coming out).

IMG_5435

I’m going to break down the whole smudging thing right now…..

Why smudge?

Sage is traditionally burned in Native American ceremonially rituals.  The smoke from the burning smudges stick is said to cleanse of bad feelings + negative thoughts + bad spirits + negative energy.  I know I’m totally loosing you, but whether or not this is true, is up for debate.  I’m a believer!  And who doesn’t want to want to rid of all the negative shit?

When to smudge?

  • when you move into a new space
  • begin a new job
  • when you’re feeling angry + upset or negative
  • anytime you feel a conflict in your life
  • a struggling relationship
  • significant life event: marriage + birth + death + sickness

Are you down with it?

If you’re thinking, WTFE xoxostacyb, then look at the next image…..

It’s pretty AF, huh?  Are you feelin it now?

IMG_5436

I personally think these bundles would make for a beautiful gift for hostesses + housewarming + showers…you name it.

You’re going to die when you see how incredibly simple these floral + herb smudge sticks are to make on your own.

{spring to-do’s}

IMG_1441.PNG

And just like that, it’s SPRING!  To say I am excited for the season change is an understatement.  I’m sure you’re sick of hearing me talk about it.  Spring always seems to be the season we wait the longest for.  Rain and all, I’ve got my eye on the long warm sunny days to come!

The shift from Winter to Spring always leaves me feeling super inspired too.  Always craving to create + explore after the Winter blues (which is a legit real thing).  I think we all, mentally NEED Spring..lol.  Everything seems to suddenly come to life.  Colorful life.

Last night I threw together a Spring mood/inspiration board (pictured above) with all the images that have been catching my eye lately.  Add the wooden flower from our Park Winters Garden Tour.  The pretty pom-pom tassel I originally got for Bay’s Easter basket.  And lastly, wrapped twine around a bunch of ranunculus to dry.

Another way Spring inspires me is by compiling our Spring list of the fun things we plan on creating + making + exploring + doing + wearing ♥

Keeping a running list is a great way to remember all seasonal things you enjoy doing or look forward to do.  When we have a free weekend, I like to refer to our To-Do’s and check items off as we go.

{good shit}

How about National Be Kind Day?  Let’s start it.  Who’s in?  Today, the 26th day of July.  Let’s all do something kind.  Even if its just ONE kind deed.  Kindness doesn’t cost a cent and is worth it’s weight in gold.  Sprinkle that shit everywhere you go.  Open a door for someone.  Smile at a stranger (just not a creepy one).  Text a homie.  Call your grandma and say Hi!  It takes a couple of second out of your day.  Do good shit!  And guess what, not only will good shit come back to you, you will feel pretty damn good too!

Remember a {weekend notes} where I talked about all the “Good Shit” that happened that weekend?  More “Good Shit” happened last weekend.  Right as our spontaneous road trip started, a black cat ran across the road, right in front of us.  I’m not going to lie….I’m  superstitious.  Please tell me I’m not the only one?  It totally freaked me out.  How can you start a trip like that?  You know what it means when a black cat runs across the street in front of you?  It means you should turn around and go back.  Otherwise, bad luck.

Instead of turning around, I decided…let’s just do “Good Shit” and we’ll be fine.  So, that’s what we did.  I sprinkled “Good Shit” every place I went.  And guess what?  Not a single thing went wrong, bad…nothing.  No bad luck.  What I’m saying here friends, just do “Good Shit!”

Bay and I chatted about this on our way to summer camp this morning.  About all the super easy things you can do.  She decided that she’d pay lots of complements to other kids + counselors and smile at others.  Smiles are contagious.  Yet so simple!  And if my 10-year-old can do it..so can you!!!

Random Acts of Kindness aka “Good Shit”

{friday 5}

Welcome back, FRIDAY!!  I think I can speak for everyone when I say we misssssed you!  This week was pretty standard…..appointments + meetings + barn duty + etc…with all that aside, it was an interesting week.  I cant help but smile and laugh thinking about the way life has a funny way of working itself out, ya know?  I clearly don’t have it all figured out, that’s for fucking sure, but constantly reminding myself to trust the timing of my life and that I’m right where I’m supposed to be.  Little deep for a Friday?  Yessss…

Enough about that shit!  The best part of this weekend?  We have almost zero plans.  Sleeping in.  Coffee in my pj’s.  Lot’s of baking for Miss Bailey, I’m sure.  Dinner in the backyard.  Did you see the weather forecast?!?!  Bring on the weekend!!

First I’ve got 5 things on my mind……

ONE – #myoshproject // OSH is hosting another Kids class.  Leprechaun Lantern Nightlight making.  So cute, right?  I showed Bay and she looked at me like, Mom – I’m wayyyy too old for that.  But, little does she know, she will be going.  Ha.  I know she will secretly dig it too!

TWO – Please tell me you read Chrissy Teigen’s Open Letter that was released Monday morning?  As if I needed one more reason to love the perfect bitch!  She may be known for her modeling, but she’s also funny AF, a fellow chronic over-sharer, no-filter opinionated, full of hilarious jokes and cooks like a fucking boss.  This article is so real and raw, I even teared up a little….read it!!!

Click on the link below for the full article…..

Chrissy Teigen Open Letter

Chrissy Teigen, 31, is many things: a Sports Illustrated cover girl, a New York Times best-selling cookbook author, a host of the Emmy-nominated TV series Lip Sync Battle and the soon-to-be designer of a fashion line with Revolve. But she’s best known for what her husband, John Legend, calls her: “smart mouth.” She opines on everything from politics to stretch marks, 140 characters a time on Twitter. And her commentary is often so “you took the words out of my mouth!” that all you have to do is hit RT and add the word “PREACH.”

What women love about Teigen is that she is, as she admits, “an open book.” She will show off a perfect seared duck breast—and tell you she accidentally sliced off her fingertip on a mandoline. Ask her about the wildest place she’s had sex? She’ll answer. (An airplane.) She approaches any topic with that same raw, real candor.

But there’s one thing she hasn’t shared yet: After giving birth to her daughter, Luna, last April, Teigen developed postpartum depression, a condition affecting one in nine women, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In this exclusive essay forGlamour, she talks about her experience, why she kept it private, and how she’s doing now. And she is as raw and real as ever. Over to you, Chrissy.

THREE – Stir-Fry //  I grabbed a Taylor Farms Stir-Fry Kit at the grocery store last week.  I was looking at the bagged chopped salads (currently obsessed) and I spotted these kits.  Shortcut alert!!!  You know, sometimes the idea of trying to be creative with veggies is exhausting?  I make the same ol stir-fry with asparagus + chicken.  It’s good and all, but its the same thing every time.  These are packed with shaved brussels sprouts + kale.  I would never use that combo on my own.  They each come with a sauce packet too.  Just add your protein (like shrimp + chicken + steak) and bam…dinner in 5 minutes.  seriously!  I served our Teriyaki Stir-Fry with leftover shredded rotisserie chicken over Trader Joes’s brown rice.  BOMB!  You can find them in the bagged salad section at your grocery store.  They are $3 something each!!

{spring to-do’s}

FullSizeRender (3).jpg

Since today is March 1st, and Spring is officially here in 20 days (TWENTY DAYS), why not make a list of Spring To-Do’s + Goals?

I love planning out fun adventures + setting goals for the new season.  And God knows we are ready for Spring time and sunshine!

Back in September I shared my Fall To-Do’s.  You can read more about that here…..

{Fall To-Do’s}

Although I can’t say I mastered paella + created a herb garden + enjoyed one last camping trip (we tried, but got rained out), I did get to cross off most of them.
