Wine flies when you’re having fun 🍷🍷

Today I’m grateful for:

a fresh start

cory

and cute kimonos from bella moda boutique!

Why did the weekend fly by so fast? Spent Sunday Funday wine tasting in Clarksburg. We #chardsohard at Bogle Winery. Cory even joined the wine club so cheers to more trips in the future. We had a very chill weekend and even more chill week ahead. Trying to really embrace the final weeks of summer.

Intentions for the Week:

  • Make zero point meatballs
  • Kick my Mom’s ass at weigh-in this week
  • Take extra good care of myself
  • Decide on a 2020 planner
  • Actually take a hike on the weekend (not just talk about it…lol)
  • Breakup with sugar (added sugar) for 10-days (bye chardonnay)
  • Pink hair, don’t care?
  • Give out some random acts of kindness….the whole World needs it!

This week on xoxostacyb: Not making any promises lol, but I’m hoping to get up Target Tuesday. New Trader Joe’s items we’re loving. And finally my Old Navy Try-on. Maybe, just maybe Friday 5 too?

Highlights from the weekend……

{gift guide: father’s day}

Father’s Day is right around the corner. I’m talking 10 days ladies. I swear, Father’s Day sneaks up on me every year. And I think we can all agree…..Men are either the easiest to buy for or the very hardest? Am I right? Like, there is NO in between. So, we better hop to it!

Sometimes we overthink things. Don’t stress. It’s not all about the fancy gifts. Sometimes it’s just the thought of planning some quality time. A little extra effort. Especially when it comes from the kiddos. I’m sharing some ideas on how to make Father’s Day extra special.

Plan one of his favorite activities //

Whether you go out to his fave brunch or dinner spot. Maybe the golf course or Top Golf to hit some golf balls. The lake for a day on the water. The local brewery for some beers. Does he like going to the movies? Grab all his top candy + snacks and head to the show. Or the store he loves to shop at. Whatever it is – makes reservations and arrangements ahead of time. That way you can just go and have fun!

Plan a BBQ or brunch //

Pick his number one meal. Breakfast. Brunch. BBQ. Whatever it is….grocery shop and have it all prepped. Have the kids set the table. How cute are they necktie napkins? Super easy to do. I’ll share the DIY below. These menus are the perfect touch. They are customizable do you can add anything you’d like.

Square Dish Set (on sale) | Gold Flatware | Linen Napkins | Table Runner (only $7) | Stainless Steel Vase: Serendipity

A fun gift //

Big or small. Something he’d never buy for himself. Or maybe something you know he could use. Have the kids wrap it up with the Sunday newspaper. Make handmade cards. I promise whatever is in the box will put a smile on his face.

I rounded up a bunch of tried + true great items that I think any dad would LOVE.

Bunny Cookie Cutter | Floral Placemat | Milk Glass Dish

How adorable are these little bunny butt cookies? Bay helped me make them and I LOVE how they turned out. So simple too. We used a sugar cookie package to make these. Because, sometimes….we just don’t have time to whip out the mixer and make a hot mess. lol.

All you need is your fave sugar cookie recipe. Or a packaged mix. A bunny cookie cutter. I found this one on Amazon after searching all the stores in town (with NO luck) and Amzon delivered in 1 day. Well done Amazon, well done. And a cute dab of frosting for a cotton tail.

This is a great cookie to make with little ones. You can’t mess it up. And they take no time at all. Nothing gets you into the Holiday spirit like a cookie baking day anyway.

{tablescape in a box}

img_6259

You guys, I did it!  I made it happen.  Tablescape in a Box was born this week.  I say born, because I feel like I’ve given birth.  That’s actually kinda gross…Ha! This is my baby though.  Something I’ve thought long and hard about for a very long time.

I’m sure you all know by now that I live for a pretty table.  It’s inviting.  It sets the tone.  You know what I mean?  Changing around my table to fit the mood + season has become my jam.  You can check out all my past tablescapes here on my site: xoxostacyb table setting

img_6252

I went to every store in the area scouting table items that caught my eye.  I’m typically a very neutral + natural color tones kinda of gal.  Think white on white on white.  With lots of greenery.  But nothing says Christmas like a pop of red.  And reindeer.  I couldn’t help myself.

This is a tablescape I would proudly set on my table all December.  Hosting family + friends.  Weeknight dinners.  There is nothing more inviting than a festive set table.

img_6257

Here’s how it works……

  • I design a tablesetting.  Not just any tablesetting, but one that I truly love.
  • Snap photos of the tablesetting.
  • Box up ALL THE THINGS + photos.
  • Then you can purchase the whole set for your table.
  • I’ll even come and help you set your table, if you’d like ♥

img_6255

and without further ado, here is my very first born…Tablescape in a Box:

{friday 5}

Happy frickin Friday!  I haven’t been this excited about Friday…since last Friday!  Tomorrow is December 1st!  Which means 26 days till Christmas.  But, doesn’t it kinda feel like we’ve been Christmasing already for months?  I’m nowhere even close to ready though…Ha!

Weekend plans: Bay’s having some homies for a sleepover, which means pizza 🙂  Ha!  Who’s going to the Dicken’s In the Valley Home Tour?  I can’t wait to see all the homes, especially the three Karen of Serendipity Boutique decorated.  Got a little sneak peek last week, but can’t wait to see them with all the finishing touches.  Fingers crossed the rain holds off for a bit Saturday evening so we can check out the Winter’s Tractor Parade.  Other than that, relaxing and finishing up our Christmas decor.  I still have yet to put any ornaments on my tree….well talk more about that below.

5 things on my mind…..

img_5662-1

ONE – Naked Tree // Would it be bad if I left my tree naked?  So far I’ve got about 2,000 little white lights on our tree.  Every morning I come down the stairs and plug-in the lights. Sit back take it all in.  Having a tree in your home is crazy fucking magical.  I don’t care how old you are.  I’m struggling with the thought of over crowding the beauty of the simple tree with our 623 ornaments.  Ha!  To be completely honest, I just want to start all over with our Christmas decor (unfortunately that aint happening).  I’m craving a super minimal Christmas this year.  We’ll see how long I can put off ornaments.  I did buy new Pottery Barn Ornament Hooks, so many I’ll throw on a few?

TWO – 1958 McCall’s Magazine // 129 Ways To Get A Husband.  This is 100% not any tips or advice I think anyone should follow.  Just absolutely historical to read.  To think, a women possible wrote this in the 50’s.  It straight up kills me….for example:

#9 “sit on a park bench and feed the pigeons”  – get shit on and hope some dude wants to talk to you?

#16 “volunteer for jury duty” – what in the actual fuck?  Maybe you can land a convict?

#58 “get a sunburn” – I guess it’s better than being pasty?  Really?  A Sunburn?  I guess you’ll be super “hot” then?

Click here: And read all 129 (perfectly not-normal) Ways to Get A Husband!

{thanksgiving kids table // graham cracker crust pumpkin pie}

img_4319

My dining room table isn’t large enough accommodate the whole fam-bam.  Someday when I grow up (I say this all the time..Ha) I’ll have a table that can seat an army!  Until then, we shall set up the kids table.

Not just a boring kids table though.  A fun + entertaining table is key.  They stay busy = you get to enjoy your wine + pie with a little peace…HA!  Love them to death, but let’s be real.

img_4318

I’m also sharing my graham cracker crust pumpkin pie.  Which I’m really sad to announce…I can’t take the credit for inventing.  Bobby Flay patented it about 8 fucking years ago.  What the hell.  As soon as you think you’re onto something BOMB.  Google it and it’s already been done!

Which isn’t always the worst thing.  I honestly had NO idea how long to bake.  So I followed Bobby’s baking directions, which gave me the perfectly set pies!

And how about this kids table.  The activity table-cloth is so perfect.  And the leaves.  My Mom collected each one of them at Casini Ranch while camping last weekend.  They have the most gorgeous trees that were dropping these giant leaves.  Thanks Mom!

img_4317

I kept it simple using everything I had on-hand.  Including the used to be white mini pumpkins that are now yellow-ish.  I did buy them in September, so I should stop bitching.  Coloring crayons…we’ve all got some lying around.  Poured some Trader Joe’s chocolate covered sunflower seeds…mainly for the color factor.  But, for snacking too!

This color on activity tablecloth is from the one, the only….Target.  There is a word search for the older kids.  A pumpkin + turkey maze.  Even a spot to write what they are Thankful for!  Love it so much.  It completed the kids table.

Color In Thanksgiving Tablecloth  $3.50 at Target

GUEST_18ad7bc7-76e3-49e8-90de-2c37447a4b06.jpg

Just bring on the turkey…we’re all set over here!

img_4322

Here are some of the recipes we will be enjoying for Turkey day tomorrow:

Cory has our Branigan’s Turkey in brine as I type.  He’s on turkey duty and will be cooking it in an air fryer.  I’ll be sure to snap some pictures tomorrow.

Pioneer Women Creamy Mashed Potatoes the main attraction, if you ask me!

I’ve been making these Stuffing Balls for years. I found the recipe in one of the old Kraft Magazines that used to come out monthly.  Do they still do that?  I sub the ground pork for good ol Jimmy Dean sausage.

My Mom will always be in charge of the gravy.  It’s the one thing that I just can’t get down with on the Thanksgiving menu.  Honestly I can’t even make it without wanting to gag.  Bay’s the same.

Her Pretzel Jello Salad (similar to this one) is probably our “weirdest” side.  Poop-A-Doop, my late Grandfather LOVED this salad.  Really, it’s not even a salad.  It’s a layer of pretzels + sugar + butter.  With a cream cheese center and strawberries + jello on top.  So random, so good!

Kissey will forever bring her favorite side, Campbell’s Classic Green Bean Casserole. She makes it the BEST!!!

Along with canned cranberry (the only way to serve it).  With lots of cans of whole olives to stick on our fingers.

Mom makes homemade rolls that are to die for too!

And for dessert, my Mom is trying a new recipe for mini pecan pies and I’ll be serving my, I mean Bobby Flay’s Graham Cracker Crust Pumpkin Pie (recipe below) with homemade whipped cream (made by Bay)

What’s on your menu?  I love hearing about families one random, kinda weird, side dish they can’t have Thanksgiving without.

{thanksgiving table setting // DIY centerpiece}

img_3524

Hi friends!  If you follow me on instagram, then you know my heart is 100% Christmas.  Butttt, I am hosting my family for Thanksgiving.  What do you think they’ll say when they see I have a mixture of Christmas garland + wreaths + pumpkins?  Ha!  Most likely nothing.  Nothing at all.  They know how batshit crazy I am by now 🙂

img_3526

BIG thank you to everyone for voting on my instagram poll this morning.  This setting won.  Although, it was really close.

img_3519

I threw together this pumpkin centerpiece over the weekend.  The things I do for a table setting.  It will definitely be rotten by Thanksgiving.  But, I was dying to do a little DIY.  Whenever I’m creating with my hands, I’m the most happy.  Whether that means cooking.  Rearranging.  Planting.  Organizing.  It makes me really frickin happy.

img_3517

I found these Hearth & Hand Stoneware mini pedestals at Target and knew I’d find a way to incorporate them some how.  Tealights are in Spice jars – World Market.

Found them for cheap.  6 for $6.  Pop the top off and you’re good to go.  I love the shape.  The eucalyptus clipping was the finishing touch.

img_3520

I love adding a clipping to the back of these target chairs too!  The burlap ribbon, I leave it there year round.

img_3522

These plates have seen more food.  Ha!  They are my everyday dishes.  Super affordable, I’m talking $20 and come in a set of 12.  They make a great gift for the hostess with the most too!   Along with the gold flatware (it’s 20% off).  Although we don’t use it daily, I don’t hesitate to pull it out.  Dishwasher safe and they come out like new!

img_3525

I really wanted to keep this table simple.  Mainly because, I’m ready to set it for Christmas…lol.  I’ve got too many ideas.  It’s killing me to wait.

img_3523

Here’s a little video I took to give you a closer look!
