Highlights from the weekend…..

Before I get started we have to have a moment for the pups. Can you believe we kinda, sorta got them in their Halloween costumes? It only took about 5 treats. Callie would not leave her witch hat on for more than 20 seconds. Chalrie wanted to eat her hot dog. Ha!

Really, I was trying to get a good shot of our fireplace, because I’m obsessed. It’s so fresh + clean + black!

This is what the inside of our fireplace looked like before…..

All you need:

1 qt. High Heat Satin Black Enamel Paint + paint roller + cheapy paintbrush + painters tape.

I did some research before I started this project and I found that you need a high heat paint.

Anyway, I bought Rust-Oleum High Heat paint in black and got to work.

To start I vacuumed out all the dust, cobwebs, dirt, etc. It was actually pretty dirty, so I also used a hot soapy rag to wipe everything down really well. I wanted the brick to be as clean as possible before I started painted.

Once I had everything all cleaned up, I got to painting. I used a roller to apply the paint to the brick and that made the job super fast. I rolled it on and used a small cheapy paintbrush for the tight areas + corners.

I probably only needed one coat of paint to get great coverage, but I followed up with a second coat. NOTE – This stuff STINKS. Make sure you paint on a day you can open up all the windows and leave them open for a while.

Ok, here’s how it looks now!

So much better now! Don’t you think? I am actually surprised at how easy the whole process was and I wish I had done this sooner.

I think the finished look is so clean and classic. It’s makes the whole fireplace look better!

Back in August I actually painted our fireplace brick white. It made the biggest difference making the room feel so much lighter + brighter.

Here is the fireplace before…when we moved in.

LOVE it!

Okay, and now for highlights from the weekend…..

We kicked off the weekend in at Zocolo celebrating a birthday
