Amen to that!  The last 6 weeks have been epic.  The numbers are not the only thing that matter peeps.  Although, I know it’s pretty rad watching them decrease over the weeks.  Besides the scale.  I believe my healthy-er lifestyle has greatly contributed to my mind + body + spirit.  Thanks to Kaia Fit Woodland, I’m stronger + healthier + happier than I’ve even been!  Physically + mentally + emotionally!  (trust me, ask my family + friends the can vouch).  Kaia helped my find my inner strength.  Sounds corny, I know!  My inner strength has always been there, I just lost sight of it.  I have since stretched + grown + expanded my comfort zone time and time again striving to improve.  And once again, the results are proof!

Ok, and now the numbers, since I bet half of you didn’t even read that first paragraph…lol!

I’m sure most of you have already read the results + seen the photos on the Kaia facebook/instagram pages.  I wanted to share a little more.  So bare with me…..

The first Kaia Fit Woodland 2017 BRIK session wrapped up last week.  It was one of the best, results wise.  Melika read off these numbers below at the Saturday Share the Love workout and my jaw dropped.

COMBINED…..

Over 250 lbs LOST

Over 300 inches LOST

86% of body fat LOST

GONE.  BYE-BYE.

You guys….that’s just this last Kaia Fit BRIK alone….we’re talking SIX weeks people.  6 weeks!  1 1/2 months!

January 2nd – February 11th!

Isn’t that crazy insane?

I call if proof!

I began my Kaia Fit journey in January 2016.  You can read more about that here!

And remember January’s blog post {four}?  It was the beginning of this BRIK session.  You can read about that here!

Do you ever wake up Monday and think, damn that was a good weekend?  That was me this morning.  I woke up feelin it!  Maybe the 8 1/2 hours of sleep I got last night contributed to that?  Likely.  But, it really was a good one.  We had family tme + lots of time with Bay + did a little shopping + drank a margarita the size of my head + Yaya time + baking with Bay + sleepovers + cooking for GG ♥

Anyway, I hope you all have a little extra pep in your step today too!

Friday nights at Blue Note have become a family thing!

IMG_3869.JPG

Somehow we all congregate here.  Sometimes unplanned.  But, I like it.  I love the kicked back vibe and it’s a bar that allows kids.  I mean, Yesssss!

And a band.  A good band….

We had the boys for a sleepover.  They had me laughing all night!  Love those crazy boys!!

Saturday morning was the final workout/measurements for Kaia Fit Woodland BRIK.  Melika gave out awards to some special ladies.  Kaia Queen, The the hard working Mama (she’s a 5am’er that is pregnant and gets it), Biggest weight loss (over 14 lbs in 6 weeks), and a tribute to a Kaia girl who’s journey was documented/followed though out BRIK.  Melika’s words brought tears to the whole house.  Even my cold-hearted ass got teary!  It was a great 6 weeks!

I’ll be sharing my results later this week.  Stay tuned…..

The sun was out Saturday!  It was still cold AF, but the sun was out!  We spent time outside working in the yard, car wash and even a bike ride.  Who else is beyond ready for some sunny days + higher temps?

Then Alex rained on my parade (literally) by tell me that March is going to be the wettest month yet!  F that.  NO thank you!

Check out the cool video I snuck of Bay 🙂

And we went back to Blue Note…haha.  We kinda like it there a little.  The Squeeze Inn food truck was slangin burgers + hot dogs (lol).  “hamburgers are here!!”

Sunday was spent with the Yaya’s!  Brunch + Galentine’s + Pub crawl!  We celebrated 2 special Yaya’s Birthday’s too.  Nikki + Tara!  I convinced the girl in the Nugget bakery that writing “Happy Birthday Bitches” on a chocolate overflow cake was completely necessary. She finally agreed!  Haha!

IMG_3921.JPG

After brunch we played a Pub Crawl B-I-N-G-O!

This was one of the easier cards.  Tramp stamp + sweat stains + dyed hair were marked off pretty quickly!

Hot Dude + Eye Candy + Suit & Tie + Last Call were not likely to happen at noon on a Sunday in Downtown Woodland…lol!

If you’re planning a day or night out with your girls print these cards and try it out.  I think later in the day and more drinks downed, this could get fun!

{shrimp + cauliflower fried rice}

img_3859

Raise your hand if you love rice!!  Fried rice?  Even brown rice?  Yes + Yes + Yes!  How about swapping the rice for the ever so trendy riced cauliflower?  What if I promise you that this dish is still packed with all the traditional flavors but loaded with veggies?  Would you try it?

My Mom can vouch that this healthy version of fried rice is legit!  I ate every single morsel of the leftovers for 2 days straight!

Plus it’s a quick + easy one pan meal.

Bay wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole (she’s got a thing with shrimp) but next time I may swap it for some chicken.  You can do it without shrimp or chicken and I bet it would still be delish!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 bag cauliflower rice
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup frozen mixed peas + carrots + corn
  • 5 green onions, diced + divided
  • 2 tablespoons reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled + defined

* I  get my riced cauliflower from Trader Joe’s, but you can now find it in every grocery store in their frozen veggies section!  Or get a head of cauliflower.  Trim it and throw it in the food processor.

A day late and a dollar short!  Yesterday I just didn’t feel like writing.  WTF happened to me?  I always have plenty to say…haha!  I guess I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to the weekend yet.

Friday night with my PIC Nikki!  Dinner + Drinks are always a good idea.

Yes we still boomerang our cheers just about every time we are together.  It’s kind of our thing!  #charsohard

Saturday was spent vegging + shopping + sushi + make-up.  I got my make-up done by some dude in Nordy’s.  I even bought all the shit.  I blame it on the lunchtime beverages.

Pre-drinks at the Nakagaki’s.  Liz makes the best martini in town.  Swear!

{friday 5}

FullSizeRender (16).jpg

OH YEAH it’s FRIDAY!!  Today is a good day!  I’m ready to wrap up this work week and move on to the weekend!

But first, I’ve got 5 things on my mind……

ONE –  Last night my mom came over to help my hang my new curtains.  Like normal, we chatted for about an hour.  We did get one of the curtains up though.  Anyway, she mentioned Halo Top.  Unless you live under a rock, you know exactly what I’m talking about.  I literally was looking on their web-site to see where I could get a pint earlier that day.  I keep reading all the hype about this low-calorie, high-protein, low-sugar, all natural ice cream.  Healthy ice cream?!?!  You mean I can eat ice cream and not get fat?  We said screw it and went to Nugget to try it out.

So many flavors to choose from…..

They offer the basic  Chocolate + Vanilla Bean + Strawberry.  Or if you’re a little more adventurous, they offer flavors like Pistachio + Red Velvet + S’mores.

You can see all the flavor options below….

Halo Top Flavors

FullSizeRender (2).jpg

After reading all the jazz about this fancy new ice cream for weeks, pretty sure I’m the ONLY person that will say this…..I wasn’t impressed.  The Nutritional Facts are impressive, but the texture just wasn’t there for me.  It’s called ice CREAM for a reason…this isn’t creamy at all.  The message on the carton says something like, “it’s worth the wait” meaning, let that hard ass frozen stuff set for a bit.  Aint nobody got time for that.  I couldn’t eat a whole pint of either flavor, even for cash money!  I get it, it’s healthy AF and all that good stuff.  If I’m going to splurge on ice cream, I think I’ll save my $5.99/pint and stick with a scoop of Mocha Almond Fudge from Baskin Robins.

What are your Halo Top thoughts?  Did I just try bunk flavors?

Chocolate Mocha Chip Nutrition Facts // Cookies + Cream Nutrition Facts

TWO – 15 reasons to go to Target!!  I was in the store last week and in total awwww.  So many cute springy colors.  TONS of swimsuits.  A couple of my girlfriends got the radest suits.  The shoe department.  Don’t skip it!  Did you see that Target just did a colab with Baublebar?  Everything is under $30!  You MUST go!

{what i ate}

What I ate?  #wia?

What happened to what I wore?  Ha!  If you follow my instagram stories, then you’d notice that I posted all my meals yesterday.  #hellafoodpics

I’ve been asked over and over about what I eat while on BRIK.  I’m currently right smack dab in the middle of a sugar cleanse, which seems to be a huge topic lately.  The question I get on a daily:

What the fuck do you eat?

Ha.  Food is always a topic when I’m dieting or cleansing.  ALL that’s on my mind is what I’m going to eat next.  My girlfriend Sarah and I email/snapchat our sugar-free meals to each other too…lol.  The struggle is real.

So, I documented yesterday.  Sorry for all you peeps who could give a shit.

Did you know that yesterday was ditch day?  I will not be attending ditch day.  Not yesterday, not today, not tomorrow.  I got goals!!!

fullsizerender-3

First thing first, I start each day with a shot of apple cider vinegar (ACV) + a cup of hot lemon water.  Even the weekends.  I swear you get used to the ACV taste after a while.  I don’t mind it at all anymore.

img_3190

Breakfast –

It’s ALWAYS the same.  Egg over easy.  1/4 cup roasted sweet potato.  1 cup spinach.  Salsa or tapatio.  1 tablespoon almond cheese.  2 slices avocado.

I literally could eat this everyday and never get sick of it.

I wish I could go back to rotation smoothies in the breakfast game, but I burnt myself out BIG TIME.  I decided that after my sugar cleanse, I’m going to try again.

I truly believe in the weight watcher rule: “if you bite it, you write it”  or in my case, log it.  I swear my My Fitness Pal.  And Mallory, my Kaia BRIK coach can view my food log and give me feedback.  (ignore the gin + beers Mal)

I’ve started a really, really bad habit of stopping at Starbucks (almost every morning) for a grande black pike.  I use my mobile app and either stop after the gym or have my sidekick run in and grab it for me.  They now know Bay by her name.  All bad.  Maybe when I’ve used all my Starbucks gift cards and have to start paying out of my own pocket, I will go back to homemade coffee?  We shall see.

{turmeric roasted cauliflower soup}

I realized, after writing yesterday’s post, how depressing it was.  I was in no way shape or form having or looking for a pity party.  I re-read it last night and thought….dammnnnn, that sucked.  Yes, I gained some weight.  Shit – Oprah said her average Holiday gain is 10 lbs.  So, I’m good with my 4 lbs.  I just wanted to share the truth.  The truth is, I’m human and my fitness goals are not easy.  This shit takes time!  I’m bound and determined to get back on tack.  Luckily I have all the tools right at my finger tips.  There is no doubt in my mind that my next results post will be my very best!

Just wanted to clear that up!

Ok, so now onto the recipe…..

If you haven’t jumped on the turmeric bandwagon yet, you really should.  Known as a superfood, turmeric has been used for centuries for healing.

Benefits of turmeric:

  • fighting inflammation
  • as an antioxidant
  • protects the heart in various ways
  • helpful for arthritis
  • braIn boosting
  • may be helpful for fighting diabetes + cancer

Reason enough to start adding turmeric to your day, right?  I’m sold!!!

I want to buy a bottle of turmeric and give it to everyone I love and tell them, “use this shit!”

Beyond all that, turmeric is a delicious ingredient when added to your favorite homemade dishes.

This is where I share the yummy soup that I found on Skinny Taste last week.

Turmeric roasted cauliflower soup.  I know, it sounds all healthy and shit.  But, trust me.  It’s good!  You could add some crumbled bacon.  Or pesto as a topper.  Make it yours!  If you follow the recipe as is, it is Kaia friendly + dairy-free + gluten-free, vegan + whole30 + paleo!  Dannnggg!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Kaia Fit Woodland BRIK came to an end last week.  So you know what that means – I will be sharing my results!  Congratulations Kaia girls…WE DID IT!  Another BRIK in the books.

Click here to read about my pre-BRIK measurements from August 26th, six weeks ago.

I worked out last Thursday morning.  As I was leaving I saw the scales lined up just waiting for us.  All 4 of them.  Oh shit.  It’s that time.  I planned on the 8am weigh-in.

I booked it home to shower, shave, pluck my eyebrows….I mean every little bit helps, right?  LOL!!!
