{friday 5}

Another day, another beach. We’re spending Spring Break chasing the sunshine. Yesterday we ended up in SLO. Chard pit stop at Madonna Inn. It’s been on the bucket list FOR-EV-ERRR, but to be honest I was kinda disappointed. It was kinda like a dingy Denny’s. Still really cool nonetheless. Beached the day away at Avila Beach. How have I never been here before? It’s like this little town was created for me lol. Thank for all the sweet messages + SLO suggestions. We googled them all and made our to-do list. It’s going to be 70 + sunny so we’re headed back to the beach, but first I’ve got 🖐🏻 things on my mind.

ONE – Rose gold hair, don’t care // Such a fun new product by Kristin Ess!  A gorgeous subtle rose gold tent.  Mom’s, it washes out. No Kool-Aid crap that never washes out. Bay had to have her red Kool-Aid hair cut off a couple of summers. So this shit is gold, literally.

TWO –  More water //  The struggle is real.  I’ve been using all the tips + tricks to get my daily water intake.  It’s harder than you think. How do you get in your daily H20?

Image-1 (5).png

Here’s what I’ve been doing to get those extra ounces…..

  1. Adding mint + cucumber + lemon to a big ol bottle of water and keep it in the fridge.
  2. Ice, Ice baby.  I take ice to work with me each day and store it in the freezer.
  3. Drinking out of a cute cup.  Or Yeti.  With a straw.
  4. Only refilling when I’m finished with my existing water so I can track how much I’m actually drinking.

My goal is at least 75 ounces a day, which probably isn’t all that crazy of a goal, but to me it feels kind of epic.  Ha!

Anyone got any other get-yourself-to-drink-more-water-hacks that I should know about?

THREE – Roast carrots // Super easy + super pretty. We love carrots at our house. It’s such a simple side dish and you can jazz up in so many ways. Use your imagination and the herbs in your fridge. Promise it will be good. Anyone else tell their kids that they’ll be able to see better if they eat all their carrots? Lol. I remember my parents tell me. And I’d swear, that after 1 bite, I had better eyesight.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 bag Trader Joe’s petite tri-color carrots
  • 1/8 cup olive oil
  • 1 lemon
  • salt + pepper
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled

Here’s what you’ll do:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Line a baking sheet with foil or silpat.

In  a large ziplock bag toss together olive oil + 1/2 lemon juiced, carrots.

Lay carrots on baking sheet.  Season with salt + pepper.

Bake for 25 minutes.  Give the pan a good shake about half way.

Remove carrots and place on a pretty plate.  Add the other 1/2 lemon juiced + top with crumbled feta.

This makes a great weeknight side dish.  And I can’t get over how easy tri-colored carrots are on the eye 🙂

FOUR – Opalhouse for Target //  How made a special Target run to check out the new Opalhouse colab?  Once again, Target KILLED it.  Over 1,300 authentically-inspired, eclectic pieces to choose from.  Colorful.  Unique design.  Elevated details.  But, not over the top.  Best part, most items are under $30!  I gathered my top picks to share with you today.  I’m dying to know what you grabbed or have your eye on.

In celebration of March, today I’m sharing my Spring table setting.  Setting a pretty table has become one of my favorite seasonal projects.  Simple + clean.  Lots of white.  And it’s always fun to shop my own house for different pieces to finish the table off.
A set table makes the home feel so welcoming.
And nothing sets the Spring tone like a bright cheery room.
Keep scrolling to check out all the details…..

Bay even helped me with this one too!  I’m rubbing off on her…Ha!
She rolled all the rose napkins.  Perfectly.  She knows how I roll….lol.

Farmers Market flowers were my favorite find last Saturday.  Super unique.
Once these begin to wilt, I’ll probably grab a couple of bunches of eucalyptus to replace it.
IMG_0069
Fresh rosemary + thyme tied with bakers twine.  As soon as the candle was lit, I could smell the fresh herbs.  Such a fun touch.  The thyme wilts quickly.  If you decide to try this at home.  Either stick with rosemary for a longer lasting look.  Or do this the day of, if you’re having peeps over.  Either way, I love using anything fresh I can get my hands on.  I have rosemary planted out back.  Fresh thyme was leftover from a recipe.  I also love using up things I already have in the fridge.

I wanted a layered look without chargers or extra on the table.  I bought this plate set at Walmart yearrrrsss ago.  It’s from the Better Homes and Garden collection.  Which is still available.  I have 2 sets making an 8 piece place setting.  They are great quality and don’t have a single chip.

No more living room floor picnics at our house!  Finally!  Ha.  If you follow along on Instagram stories, then you saw all our fancy floor sitting dinners we had.
Remember back in August when we had our first (and last) garage sale?  I sold my dinning room table.  My Mom was stressed the fuck out.  She was beside herself that I would sale something that I didn’t have a replacement for.  A piece of furniture that was completely in good condition.
She clearly has NO faith in me!
Just kidding, she was being a Mom.  I sold the table + chairs for almost the same price I bought it for back in 2002.  Yes, I said 2002.  The table was one of the first pieces of furniture I ever purchased as an adult.  It came from McMahan’s.  Remember that place?  Where InShape Fitness is now.  Crazy, right?  And chances are, I even financed that $100 table.  They were BIG on financing everything…lol.
Anyway, I just felt like it was time to part ways.
I was ready for a change.  My motto with the dreaded move….
“Sell it”
or
“Toss it”
A week later, as I was deleting all the 837 daily J.Crew, Madewell, Nordstrom, GAP, American Eagle, Pottery Barn emails, I came across…..
World Market 50% off dinning room furniture.
I gathered my Explorer Rewards + promo codes and pulled the trigger.  With a $320 savings (off the original price) I’d say it was meant to be.
Even my Mom agrees!
I love a good deal.
And pretty shit!

Unfortunately I have to make a trip to Napa to pick up the bench.  Darn it!  I hate the wine country….said no one ever!
Using even more promo codes, I was able to score the bench for $102!
Still not set on chairs.  Stay tuned!

Honest – I had NO idea how incredibly happy this table would make me.  Not just that it’s a table.  But, our new house is begging to feel like a home.  And a dinning room table is kind of a big deal!

You can shop or check out my table setting below!!!  Message me or comment if you have any questions at all.  I’m honest AF!

{wednesday wish list}

I spent an entire lunch break at World Market last week.  I wanted EVERYTHING.  Don’t you hate it when that happens?  You have to remind yourself that you are not rich and you can not buy everything you see…lol.  I suggest you make a World Market trip in the new future to check out some of their new arrivals.  Lot’s of southwest flare + vintage pieces + jade (obsessed).  I’ve linked a few of the items currently on my wish list 🙂
{wednesday wish list}

Edison-Style String Lights // love the look of these vintage style string lights.  They would look great strung across the backyard.

White Punched Metal Lili Drum Stool // a very versatile piece that looks great in a living room or even an outdoor space.  And they come in tons of fun bright colors too.

Hello and Goodbye Doormat // greeting and farewell all in one.  BRILLIANT!!

Wood Edin Serving Tray // how could you not love the vintage-inspired delicate look of this tray.  I picture a beautiful cheese display or how about in the center of a coffee table topped with flowers:)  Check out the whole Edwin collection here.

Jade Colored Glass Pedestal Stand // although this is not classic jadeite, it’s truly beautiful in person.  You cant pass it up with that price tag.

Charcuterie Cutting Board // love the style of this rustic cutting board.  Perfect for entertaining.

Farmhouse Chalkboard // whitewashed farmhouse perfection.  Would make a darling addition to any kitchen to display a weekly menu.

Calypsa Upholstered Hairpin Bench  // the southwest flare of this bench has it at the top of my wish list.  It would be perfect in or master at the foot of the bed.

“Deer Departed” by Vivian Canbelle // I’ve been eyeing this hand-painted canvas for a long time.  Where would I put it?  I have NO idea, but I still want it, bad!!

What’s on your wish list for your home?  Spring always inspires me to freshen up our living space.  I just don’t know where to start.

xoxo stacyb

KITCHEN EDITION  //
I’m sure you can tell by now that I have a love for all things pretty.  Kitchen + Entertaining especially.  It rarely goes out of style.  And, you don’t grow out of it…lol.  I use my parent’s 38 year old wedding china and absolutely adore it.  It’s timeless.  I’m a collector of white serving dishes – I can’t help it.  The uniform look of a beautiful buffet covered with white serve-ware really makes the food pop.  World Market, Pottery Barn and Target are just a few of the places I frequent for new kitchen goods.
Here is my wish list of all kitchen pretties I would love to add to my cherished collection.
