Happy Friday people!  Another work week concluded and another weekend about to begin.  Friday mornings rival Monday mornings.  I love Monday mornings.  I’m normally ready to get back to my regularly scheduled activities.  So Monday’s are good.  But Friday mornings, Friday mornings come with joyful anticipation of the weekend that is about to begin.  And that’s really hard to beat!  I’ve got a good one happening NOW!  3-day weekend with the girls + sunshine.  So excite!

But, first I’ve got 5 things on my mind……

ONE – San Diego // I dusted off my sunnie + bikini for the weekend ♥  If you’re reading this as it published…look up, I’m in the sky!  Haha!  Making my way to San Diego to see my bestie since 2nd grade/baby mama, Sarah (aka Sarah with the Black Hair).  I can’t wait to see her bump + catch up!  Shower her + her baby girl.  She’s got a surprise up her sleeve and it’s going to be good!  I couldn’t resist GAP first favorites…so cute and so little.

TWO – Lent // Wednesday marked the beginning of Lent, Ash Wednesday.  Bailey and I racked our brains trying to come up with something significant to give up for the next 40 days.  Bay chose hard candy.  She’s getting braces at the end of the month and thought it would be good to just give it up now.  I chose Starbucks!  STARBUCKS you guys!  Not to be confused with coffee.  I will still drink coffee, because it’s necessary, just not my beloved Starbucks coffee.  I developed a Starbucks problem.  Sometimes I visit twice a day.  Yikes!  It’s a bad and expensive.  On Thursday, the very next day, I accidentally ended up in the drive-thru.  Don’t worry, I didn’t order a coffee.  I drove out as soon as the barista said “Hey Miss Stacy!”  Yep, they know my name.  And my order: grande pike in a venti cup with a stopper.  I drove by the window and said see you in 40 days….peace!  What did you give up?  I debated on booze and thought, Nahhh!!

IMG_4689.JPG

THREE – Dip Powder Manicure // Have you heard of it?  Thanks to the wonderful world of social media this has quickly popularized.  It’s a cross between a regular mani and a fake nail.  Check out the video below.  Instead of using UV rays to seal the polish, the color comes from pigmented powder.  Between base coats + sealant, you dip your nail into a little jar of chosen color.  They have the little nail sample colors just like gel.  Crazy right?!  Want to know the best part?  Of course you do 🙂  The dip powder nails are said to last 3-4 weeks.  I will be putting it to the ultimate test.  A gel mani lasts me 2 weeks max, so lets see if I can get the full 4 weeks.  I’ll keep you posted!

Happy Monday Tuesday!  I had every intention of finishing this post yesterday and just tan out out of time.  So Happy Tuesday, it’s closer to the weekend so that makes it better anyway.

We had the best weekend!  I woke up feeling refreshed and ready for the work week.  Maybe because it’s a short work week?  Ha.  Either way, I’m ready for the week!

I hope you too got to enjoy the sunshine + friends + family + lots of cocktails!!!

You’ll never guess here we went Friday?  We went to Blue Note, again.   It’s for sure become our Friday night thing!  The whole family met for after work beers.  Some friends joined us too!

Say Hi To Benny Bear!!!

Check out this tall can!  How did I, the queen of tall cans, not even know Blue Note sold them.  I know what I’ll be getting next time.

(thanks for being the tall can model Joe)

The kids played games + bought tons of girl scout cookies.  I may of had a few.  More like, a shit ton!  See the boxes sitting at the end of the table….farrrr away from me…lol!

Then the Fricke’s for a final-final…..kinda

Love these kiddos ♥

Saturday morning we went to watch my nephew Joe’s basketball game.  It’s crazy how good these kids are.  Good game Joe!!!

Then we were off to the City for our fun Mom + Daughter + Grammy weekend!  A weekend away was just what we needed.

Minutes into the drive Bay proclaimed her love of nachos!  And I’ve always wanted to try Gracias Madre.  Honestly, I can’t even tell you why.  When we got to the ghetto, where this restaurant is located, we almost left.  LOL!  It looks like a hole in the wall.  Annnddd, how did I not get the memo that it is vegan mexican food?  Ha.

Thank god for the one man bad that played his guitar and serenaded Bay the whole time.  We were able to enjoy vegan margs + some not so nachos.  Only joking.  The food was actually really good.  Just not the taqueria  style Mexican food we had in mind.

The menu was “different” that’s all I can say.  We found some things to try…..

Flautas de Camote

Rolled crispy tacos with sweet potato and caramelized onion. Topped with guacamole, pico de gallo and nacho cashew cheese. Served with black beans and escabeche

Totopos with Tempeh Chorizo + Avocado

House made chips tossed in a creamy chipotle salsa roja. Topped with cashew crema and cilantro.

Everything was surprisingly delicious!  Especially the margs 🙂

The Painted Ladies // Our first time checking out these beauties.  One of the most photographed in San Francisco.  Also know as where Full House was filmed.  Really just the red doored home was shown in the opening credits.  Which is no longer red.  So sad!

Happy Dance!

Helllllloooo, Friday!

Thank you for showing your beautiful, sunny face!

Even though it’s crazy cold.  I see sunshine and I’m a happy girl ♥

You guys, this week was a frickin’ whirlwind, and I’m glad it’s over, to be honest!  It’s Friday and you know I’ve got 5 things on my mind, so here we go……

ONE – This weekend I’m surprising Bailey with an overnight trip to the city.  She’s got an idea that something is up.  I booked a room at the Fairmont, which is where we’ve always said we want to wake up at one day.  So excited to see her reaction.  Oh and I scored reservations at the Tonga Room, which she thinks is the coolest restaurant ever.  My Mom is coming with us and we have some other fun things planned.  She’s never been to the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory or The Painted Ladies or Coit Tower.  The options are endless and I can’t wait for a weekend in the Bay!

TWO – #chardsohard // Nugget scored points once again  for accommodating my crazy cake decorating ideas.  How perfect is this cake?  If you look up the hashtag on Instagram, you’re likely to see quite a few photos of my homegirl Nikki + myself.  What can I say, we like to Char so hard.  Happy birthday Nikki!

Hellloooo Monday!  I read somewhere, “Some days you make the coffee, some days the coffee makes you.”  Today the coffee made me!  I’d like to thank coffee for sponsoring this day!  I also think it’s safe to say, I’m the only person working today!!

I hope you all had a great weekend.  I spent the last couple of days with some of my most favorite chicks!

We headed to Bodega Bay to the Happy Hideout for a girls weekend trip.  Thank you Eoff’s for sharing your family vacation home with us ♥

First thing first, we made a little pit stop on the way…..

Anyone know where this famous buck hangs?

Chances are you’ve driven by this dive bar, Ernie’s Tin Bar a million times.  Next time you’re making your way to Bodega Bay or Dillon Beach, do me a favor and stop here!  Take a moment to enjoy a silver bullet and marvel at this place.  It’s fancy!  And NO CELLPHONES!!!  Ha!

If you’re lucky enough to follow any of us on Snap Chat (HA) then you know we had a little fun Friday night.  Played a few games.  Girls – what was the name of it?  Big  _ _ _ _?  Anyway, we laughed our asses off.  Busted out some karaoke.  Danced.  Took jello shots.  It was a good time!

Raise your hand if you think this should be Robin’s new FB profile picture?

We had a little chard #chardsohard

Saturday was such a gorgeous day.  It was cold AF, but the sun was out and that’s all that really matters anyway, right?!?  Especially when day drinking is all that’s on the agenda.

This year has just begun and I can already check something off my bucket list.  Drive around Lake Tahoe.  I talk about it every time I visit the Cabin.  Annnddd, then I never do it.

Last week I found my way to Hawaii.  For the first time ever.  Oahu to be exact.  So many peeps told me it was the least desirable island to visit.  Say what?  I find that to be completely mind-blowing.  You mean to tell me there’s something more beautiful?  If Oahu is the least desirable, then I can’t even imagine what the other islands have to offer.  I fell in love with Oahu.  North Shore.  Haleiwa!  It was a fairly short trip, leaving me with so many places I can only hope to return and explore some time soon.

Here are some of the many highlights of our stay in Haleiwa.  Which means a slew of photos and captions.  Some yummy places to eat and cool spots to check out.

First off, I was traveling with my long time pal, Nicole and her homegirl (soon to become mine too) Lina!  We were a pretty rad traveling combo.

In October, Nicole mentioned that she would be traveling to Hawaii for work.  And I was welcome to join.  I’m about 99% sure she didn’t think I’d take her up on the offer.  It was a surprise to me too, that it all worked out.  Lets just say, I’ve dreamed of spending a December on a beach for a while now.  Not just any beach, a warm tropical beach!  So, this was basically my dream come true!!!  A beach in a bikini (with a tall can) in the cold ass California winter.  Sign me up.

The night before our trip, I was too excited to sleep.  Just like the Disneyland commercial!  So I did what all normal people do.  I stayed up till 2am making new cutoffs.  Duh!!  In my defense, it’s not exactly the best time to invest in cute summer/beach clothes.  So I had to make shit happen.

The flight

I made it to the airport in the morning with just enough time to slam a mini bottle of Chandon at the bar.  Priorities.  Remember, this was my first sip of booze in 5 frickin days.  #nosugardiet.  That shit was over as soon as that chandon hit my lips!

FullSizeRender (5).jpg

Then I hopped on the longest flight of my life.  Sitting next to a mute, very religious dude (no offense, I dig God too) that was highly unimpressed with my mini bar I carried on in my purse.  Did you know you can take mini bottles on a plane?  Me either.  I just made cocktails all happy as fuck, minding my own business.  And I did something else that hasn’t happened in YEARRRSSSS…I read more than half (211 pages to be exact) of a book.  And the kicker, I enjoyed it!  Ha!

You’ll Grow Out Of It by Jessi Klein

Amy Schumer’s review:

Jessi Klein is a brilliant comedic mind and this book is a perfect reflection of that.  It’s like having a glass of wine with the best friend you wish you had.

Maybe that’s why I liked it so much?!?!

IMG_1320.JPG

I’m sad to report that I haven’t picked it up since.  I WILL FINISH THE 76 PAGES LEFT!!!  I WILL!!!

I found Nicole + Lina in the Honolulu airport and we started out adventure……

You wanna know the ONLY good part about flights leaving California at the butt crack of dawn?  The two-hour time difference giving us lots of daytime + daylight for our first day!

13754123_277959295895025_3536217121383051079_n.jpg

I am the friend you have to explain to your other friends before they meet me!  True story!!

In the first hour I successfully introduced Lina to tall cans + Instagram + the art of dropping the F bomb in every sentence + venmo + boomerangs!    Luckily Nicole had already warned Lina as to what she was in for 🙂

Work, then play

We hit up Costco for the necessities…wine + tortilla chips + dip + cheese.  What else could 3 chicks on vacay need?

IMG_1335.JPG

We got to tag along with Nicole for just a bit on her first day of work.  My iPhone pictures don’t do it any justice.  This place is gorgeous.  One of the most photographed sunflower fields in the world, we found out.

Peeps pay to get in on the weekends to take pictures.  We got a private tour with pictures…lol.

After a little googles sesh, check out all these cool articles…..

The Beautiful Landscape In Hawaii You’ll Only See Once A Year

Oahu Sunflower Fields

How to see the sunflower fields on the North Shore (before they’re gone)

These flowers even have their own FB page….

Our place

We found our VRBO…fucking SICK!!!

ONE – At 10:30am I will no longer be a Hawaii virgin!  Meaning, I’ve never been to Hawaii!  Dirty ass mind!  If you’re reading this, I’m most likely up in the air!  On the longest flight of my life.  See that?  My seat is 15E.  Right smack dab in the middle.  Did I mention that I hate to fly?  This my friends, is why I tend to get a little tipsy before my flights.  This one will be no different.   This is also why my no sugar diet has come to an end!  This is why I was bellied up to the bar before the sun came up.  I’ve even packed my own mini bar.  Being prepared is key, right?  I mean, what do you even do on a 5 hour flight anyway?  I guess drink?  Maybe read?  Pray your neighbor doesn’t stink?  Or snore?  I really have no fucking clue what I will do with my life for five hours stuck in a seat.  Will there be wifi?  Pray!

If you have any Oahu/ North Shore/ Haleiwa recommendations please share.  We are only here for a hot one, but want to check out all the fun cool spots.  Turtle Bay + Lanikai Beach are on the list!!!

TWO – A complete miracle happened last night.  My Triangl swimsuit that was guaranteed to NOT arrive, ARRIVED!!  I could cry.  Maybe it had to do with the couple (few) calls I made to their customer service?!?!  Who cares…it’s here just in the nick of time.  I even overnighted a J.Crew bikini as my plan B, which is definitely going back now.  I’ve had my eye on a Triangl suit since last December!  This is a pretty big deal!!  These neoprene suits come straight from Australia.  The color combos are impossible to choose from.  Take a peek for yourself….

Triangl

Can you guess which one is in that super cute backpack?

IMG_1312.JPG

THREE – Pioneer Women is at it again!  Twelve days of boots!!  Do you play?  I do.  Every single year.  I’ve yet to win, but I’m feeling lucky.  Each day, for 12 days, Pioneer Women posts a pair of gorgeous boots.  All you have to do to enter to win a pair is answer one question.

If you win these boots, who will they go to?

I treasure the month of December!  It encompasses so many things I love ♥

Extra time with family & friends+ baking (lots of baking) + cozy nights + the best movies (aka Home Alone) + happy hour outings + so many festive events all around town + the lights, I just love all the lights!

I hope you all have a great weekend!!

ONE – George Strait //  Guess who’s going Strait (back) to Vegas?  So fucking pumped, I can’t even explain!!  My Mom bought tickets when they came out on pre-sale Saturday morning.  My Mom is the SHIT!  I can’t wait for another Vegas weekend with my Mom + Sis…the last one was one I’ll never forget.  At least the parts that I remember…lol.  You know that saying, “The nights I won’t remember with the people I’ll never forget.”  Kinda like that. Haha!  I’ve got Strait Out Of The Box on repeat non-stop.  Only 238 days, but who’s counting 🙂

You can read more about our Strait to Vegas trip last September here {weekend notes}.

FullSizeRender (15).jpg

And you better beleive I will be visiting the 24-Hour Taco Bell Casino in Vegas too!!   Taco Bell has a special plance in my heart.  Similar the the special place in my heart for George Strait 🙂

Taco-Bell-Las-Vegas-2-600x400.jpg

TWO – Christmas table setting // I’m not 100% it will stay this way, but it’s ok for now.  Still obsessed with eucalyptus.  I have it all over the house.  This tablecloth is just a large piece of melatic gold dot burlap that I scored at JoAnn’s.  The mini tree came from Target a few years ago.  These are the scented pine cones from Joann’s.   The still smell like cinnamon and I love it.  The same old candles I use each time.  I got the glass holders at Ikea.  They are considered wine glasses, but that’s bullshit because it can old hold a sip.  The plates + gold flatware are both from World Market.  I’ve been only hand washing the flatware and I’m happy to report they are still in perfect condition!!  I always grab these buffet napkins.  You can’t beat a 6-pack for $9.  I wrapped them with twine + cinnamon stick + christmas tree clippings.
