5 things on my mind……

ONE – News // Beginning next week, you’re going to hear crickets from xoxostacyb.  I’m shutting down the blog for a solid week.  I haven’t had a week off in a really long time.  This is a good thing.  Even though you wont see anything, I’ll still be working.  Just behind the scenes.  Come Monday, September 10th you’ll see a revamped xoxostacyb.  My storage is almost maxed, which results in a huge upgrade on my end.  You’ll find a fresh new look.  And, recently I was accepted to ShopStyle.  Similar to Like to Know it.  Unfortunately, I just haven’t had the time to dig into it yet.  So don’t be alarmed when you don’t get your xoxostacyb {new post} email 🙂  I’ll be back, better than ever!

TWO –  J.Crew Sweater //  Another pre-spending freeze purchase.  I was going to save this one for a rainy day, but this sweater is so good, it’s going to sell out in no time.  Perfect for slowly transitioning to fall.  Not pictured is the cutest pair of heeled mules I’ve ever layed eyes on.  But, You’ll have to wait for those 🙂

Point Sur allover pointelle crewneck sweater – ON SALE!  $35 with code: BIGSALE.  This sweater is from the new Point Sur collection an LA made denim brand.  All the pieces are timeless.  I’m obsessed with the all-over pointelle on this sweater.  Easy breezy.  It comes in 4 great fall color options too!  I have my eye on the Loden Green.

9″ High-Rise Skinny Jeans: Seamed Step-Hem Edition – super comfy jeans.  Love the edgy detail to them.  Magic pockets.  Step hem.  And a front seam.

Madewell Bandana – Following the {third piece rule}here with this bandana.  Madewell has lots of great bandanas to pick from.  This one is similar to the one I’m wearing.

{7 healthy recipe sites to bookmark}

While healthy food is on all of our brains, I thought I’d share my favorite sites for good-for-you recipes to make this month.  I’m constantly bookmarking healthy recipe sites that I don’t want to forget.  I subscribe to TONS.  I always look at Pinterest too.  Who doesn’t want to eat better, cook at home more or to incorporate more vegetables into meals?

Here are my top 7 go-to healthy websites for inspiration (you’ll want to bookmark these):

1. Skinny Taste – Reaching over 3 million viewers per month, Gina’s (author, photographer and recipe developer) idea to marry great good + beautiful photography has become highly rewarding.  At Skinnytaste.com, you’ll find healthy dishes that don’t sacrifice any of the flavor that can be found in their full-fat origins.  These creations are both “skinny” and “tasty.”  Weight Watchers approved, the reason I stumbled upon the Gina’s labor of love.  Delicious, healthy, low-fat, family friendly recipes, what more can you want?  As you can see, I’m a BIG fan.  I typically use at least 1 Skinny Taste recipe per week.

On my list to make – SPINACH, FETA, AND ARTICHOKE BREAKFAST BAKE

2. Love & Lemons  – Beautifully photographed bright seasonal food finished with a squeeze of lemon.  This husband + wife duo just came out with their first cookbook.  The Love and Lemons Cookbook: An Apple-to-Zucchini Celebration of Impromptu Cooking.  I have it on hold at the library 🙂

On my list to make – BUTTERNUT SQUASH, KALE & QUINOA STEW

{shredded brussels sprout salad}

Skinny Taste Shredded Brussels Sprout Salad with Bacon + Avocado

FullSizeRender (9)

A week ago today, Skinny Taste posted this recipe.  As you can see, I didn’t waste anytime.  Brussels sprouts + bacon + avocado = Yummmm-o.  I knew it would be a hit.  And sure enough, I will be lunching on this till it’s gone.

Raw brussels stand up so well to dressing, so this is a great left over/make ahead salad.  Just add the avocado right before serving and voilà!!

High-Five friends….IT’S FRIDAY!

ONE – I made these adorable mini rosemary wreaths for my dinning table.  They make me happy 🙂  I have a big ol’ rosemary plant in my backyard and I’m always trying to come up with different ways to use it up.   I’ve seen this creative non food way of using them before and thought I’d give it a shot.  IMG_2169.JPG

Want to make some for your Christmas table?

Here’s what you need:

  • Rosemary
  • Twine
  • Scissors
  • Floral Wire (optional)

You will need long sprigs of rosemary for this project.   About 8 inches long.  I first soaked my rosemary  in a water bath to make the sprigs more pliable.  Be careful when bending into a circular shape, as the sprigs can snap.  Once you’ve created your wreath, tie a little floral wire to secure.  I didn’t have any wire on hand, so I tied my twine to hold the two ends together and it worked perfectly.  The floral wire would have made it easier though.  Tie a pretty little bow and you are done.  I practiced with red + white twine, which was super cute but didn’t match with my white and gold color scheme.  I set them on top of my folded napkins.  You could totally tuck your napkin through the center and use as a napkin ring too.  So many possibilities.

So, Sunday we had streaks…lol.  And this organic salad kit I found at Raley’s.  I actually got the salad for free from an Extra Friendzy coupon on Raley’s website.  Feta, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted chickpeas and greek dressing.  Yummm.  We always throw down on Sunday nights.
