My Mom + I went out for dinner and a movie ♥  I finally checked out  Tower Cafe.  Can you believe I’d never been?  I can cross that off my must-try list.  It was soooo good!   We ordered a Thai seafood stew that was served over jasmine rice.  TO DIE FOR!!!  I can totally see brunching at Tower Cafe this spring/summer.  The outside area is fun.

Watched Manchester By The Sea at the Tower Theater , which I’d also never been too.  I swear it’s a replica of the State Theater in Woodland.

Here’s a what it’s all about…..

Lee Chandler is a brooding, irritable loner who works as a handyman for a Boston apartment block. One damp winter day he gets a call summoning him to his hometown, north of the city. His brother’s heart has given out suddenly, and he’s been named guardian to his 16-year-old nephew. As if losing his only sibling and doubts about raising a teenager weren’t enough, his return to the past re-opens an unspeakable tragedy.

It was heartbreaking.  I’d be laughing then crying.  The gut wrenching  story was acted out beautifully.  I wish the ending was a little better though.  When the lights came on, everyone just sat still in their seats.  Like it couldn’t be over.  We needed more.

Weekend notes a day late!  Sorry peeps, I was too busy scoring Cyber Monday deals and catching up on everything.  You guys, FOUR days off work was beyond amazeballs.  Hence the image above.  Crazy Thankful!  Not only was I off work for FOUR days, but so many things I’m crazy thankful for.

Crazy Thankful for girlfriends that invite you for a Wednesday night “drink” and you stay through dinner.

Laugh.  Order too many bottles or wine.  And laugh a little more.

Hi guys!  Took a couple of weeks off to re-group.  Take some me time.  Figure some shit out.  Slow down.  Hang some twinkle lights.  Everyone keeps asking if I quit blogging.  Of course not.  Not sure I’ll be blogging every day, like before.  (You have no idea how time-consuming blogging can be).  I do plan to hop on to share recipes + cool shit I find + rad ideas, you know – all that good stuff.

I actually wrote this post Sunday and for some reason it took me till today to hit “publish.”  I kept thinking, maybe wait one more week?  Then I decided today, fuck it.  Wait for what?  So, here ya go….{weekend notes} kinda late.  If you know me, then you know I’m ALWAYS late.  So it totally works…..

Saturday my girl had her first swim meet of the year.  It was a home meet, thank god.  I set up our pop-up tent and chairs at 6 am.  And the space was already limited that early in the morning.  Crazy!

My favorite photo of the day.  Bailey on the starting block.

Her best event is the backstroke.  That’s her below in lane 6 in the middle under the green flag.

We hit up DK’s because she loves the games, and well, I love the pizza.  And beer!  DK’s selfies for a spin on the famous ticket wheel.  The mic with sound effects is the best part.  Vanna White has got some competition!

Mondays in a nutshell: Coffee in the morning is like a big hug telling me I got yo back girl. A glass of wine at night tells me you did it bitch cheers.  Anyone else with me?

Notice the extremely late post, yeah – it’s been one of those days.

The weekend came and went in a flash.  I have ALL this week off of work.  I feel like such a rebel.  It’s going to be a super busy week.  Sutter’s Fort in the morning.  Catching a flight to Seattle Wednesday.  Basically work wasn’t even an option…lol.

Friday night we met up with friends for drinks + dinner.  It also happened to be First Friday Artwalk, which attracts a large part of Woodland.  Always nice to see downtown so lively on a Friday night.  Main street lined up with people waiting outside of their favorite restaurant for a table.  Music.  Shops.  Uvaggio was the place to be.  Morgan’s On Main bar had standing room only available.  We didn’t mind at all.

Monday AGAIN

I swear the weekend was gone in the blink of an eye.  Things didn’t go exactly as planned.  We weren’t able to do everything we had hoped.  I don’t like changes in plans, at all.  But some things just happen for a reason.  We had lots of down time, which was nice.

Friday night was a TV and chill night.  Bailey still wasn’t feeling 100% so we had pizza (my true love), it was a skinny crust, so it doesn’t really count, right?  We layed in bed and watched TV till we dozed off, around 8pm.  LOL.  It was a real party.

I kicked off my Saturday morning with Kaia Fit POWER HOUR.  Great workout that kicked by butt into gear.  Lots of handbag exercises.

Thanks for the photos Val!!

Today marks the first day of Hell Week.  I’m not going to lie, I’m scared.  From what I’ve heard, the exercises get even more intense.  I figure that I’m going to be exhausted by the end of each day.  Other than having my meal plan + prep work, we also have a mellow week.  Sometimes it all works out that way for a reason.

Here’s what’s on our menu:

  •  Monday – Bailey’s cooking
  • Tuesday –  Turkey Taco Tuesday (lettuce wrapped) + guacamole + salsa + pinto beans
  • Wednesday – Cory’s cooking, Grilled steaks + broccoli + mashed sweet potato (twice baked for Cory + Bay)
  • Turkey burgers + zucchini fries
  • Friday – out to dinner

Lunches:

  • Kaia Tasty Thai Salad (my favorite)
  • Kaia Slow Cooker Butternut Squash Soup
  • Leftover Turkey Burger

Breakfast:

  • Egg White + Spinach Scramble
  • Kaia Wild Workout Smoothie (I’ve mastered it, whoop whop)

Snacks:

  • Kaia Buffalo Kale Chips
  • Almonds
  • Kaia Happy Heart Juice
  • Apples

Saturday afternoon we celebrated my nephew’s 5th birthday at DK’s Place.  You’ve got to try their supreme pizza.  It’s pizza perfection.  And yes, that was my second time having pizza in two day.  Oooops.  But, damn it just so good!!

Happy Monday!!  Can you believe this is the last week of school till after the new year?  CRAZY!!  I’m looking forward to some time off work too.

The weekend was great.  Family + friends + food + wine + traditions.  These are a few of my favorite things….

FRIDAY – anyone ever been to Ficelle (pronounced fee-sell) in Winter’s?  It’s a great little tapas restaurant.  I’ve decided that everything on their menu is to die for.  We had the Plato Combinado…I big cheese and veggie platter, but better than you’re thinking.  We enjoyed the Chile Relleno de le Noche (stuffed poblano chile stuffed and served over mole) and Canelone del Mar (crab and shrimp pasta baked in a lemony Fontana-leak cream sauce) just typing that made my mouth water.   Bailey loved their sliders.  It was a nice way to end our week.  Yummy food and wine with my mom 🙂

SATURDAY

Earlllllyyyyy  in the morning we snuck out to do some Elfing….Like booing, but for Christmas.

Bailey did the dirty work and I sat in the get-a-way car ready to take off after she left the goodies and doorbell ditched.  I’ll share more this week.  Elfing ideas and printables so you too can get your Elfing on!!

Woodland’s Annual Christmas Parade took place Saturday morning.  Main Street shuts down for the morning and the community lines up and down the sidewalks to enjoy the parade.  It was packed!!  The Parade is a fun tradition we never miss.  The dancing horses are our favorite 🙂

The spiked hot cocoa helped keep me warm….yummm.

fall back

Fall back is more like wake up and can’t fall back asleep, right?  Hope you all enjoyed that extra hour yesterday.  I was up bright and early and it felt so weird.  Time change takes some getting used to.  And it’s going to be dark by the time I get home from work tonight.  That’s always my least favorite part.  This rain, though.  I’m loving it.  We slept with the slider open last night listening to the rain.  It came down all night.  Streets are flooded in the older parts of town this morning on my way to the gym.

Lets chat about the weekend!

We had a pretty low-key chill weekend.  Just what we needed after the last few busy weekends.  Halloween on Saturday was so very nice.  No rushing.  We made all our stops and had plenty of time to get ready for trick-or-treating.
