Speaking of making my day…….

Check out these dresses I found on sale at where else but, TARGET!!!

You guys….hold the phone.  Dress at Target are currently BOGO 1/2 off!  That’s basically 2 dresses for under $40!  Cute ones too!

Target BOGO 50% off Women’s Dresses

I picked up two.  Might go back for another round.  So many cute options to choose from!

This button front strappy dress is so good.  It comes in black too, which I originally had in my cart.  Then I thought, nahhh, go for the red!  It’s a subtle red.  Linen.  Functioning buttons.  And the best part…

drumroll……it has pockets!

{kaia BRIK goals}

IMG_4509.jpg

So, Kaia Fit Woodland BRIK began.  We’re right smack dab in week #2.  It’s been hardcore.  But, I love it!

I’ve gotten questions about when I’ll be sharing my pre-BRIK weight/measurements.  Well, I’m not!  I didn’t even do weight/measurements, to be honest.  No numbers.  No photos.  Not happening.

Here’s the scoop……

I generally consider myself to have a pretty healthy view of body image.  At 36, I have definitely spent years with my fair share of sad thoughts and imperfect expectations.  But for the most part, I feel like I’ve overcome insecurities + learning to be more and more confident.  Until the other day……

I let the scale ruin my day.  Sure it wasn’t what I wanted to see.  But the saddest part of it all is that I let that number (I mean numbersssss) define my day.

And that’s not ok!

So I’m doing BRIK a little different this time around.

From delicious rosé to outdoor inspo and target must-haves, here are ALL THE THINGS I’m currently craving for May…..

Currently Craving // The May Edition.  Formerly Wish List Wednesday.  Wanted to switch it up a bit.  Thinking that monthly, I’ll share not only what I’ve got on my wish list, but all the things I’m craving.

Being right smack dab in the middle of Spring brings so much color + cool new finds.  Out with the old, in with the fabulous.  Ha!

Fri-Day!  Planning on taking full advantage of the weekend and get some relaxing in.  Next week is Spring Show….aka shit show.  Only kidding.  It’s just a very busy week.  And a good week.  Bay entered a baked good.  Table setting.  And has a pig.  If you’re looking for us, we’ll be at the fairgrounds.

Weekend plans?  We’re hitting the road.  Camping on the Russian River.  I love camping.  It’s a lot of work and all, but being outdoors, roughin it a little bit.  Drinking from sun up till sun down (the best part in my book)  S’mores.  Sitting around the campfire laughing till your belly hurts.  That’s what we’ll be up too.

Ok, let the weekend begin!

One – Fruit Bowl // Found it.  Actually my Mom found it, within minutes.  I legit scoured Target.com for this wooden pedestal bowl I used in {orange table setting} for about 30 minutes.  I search pedestal.  Wooden bowl.  You name it.  But, fruit bowl?  That’s just dumb Target.  It looks very Pottery Barn-ish with a Target price tag.  Anyway, I got lots of messages about it.  So here ya go….

TWO – Polenta Croutons // Same idea as polenta fries.  These crispy little things are the perfect addition to any salad.  I still swear by Robin Nelson’s famous salad.  Mixed greens.  Brianna’s Creamy Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing.  Blue cheese crumbles.  Sliced cherry tomatoes.  Croutons.  The only thing I’ve changed: thinly sliced red onion.  And of course, polenta croutons.  Shake it up in a big trash bag and pour into a salad bowl.  It’s  a crowd pleaser.  When you make this salad, remember to give Robin a shout out!

Polenta Croutons:

  • 18oz tube pre-cooked polenta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan
  • Salt + pepper

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.  Line a baking sheet with foil or a silpat.

Chop polenta into cubes.  Don’t bother making them perfect….just try to keep them about the same size so the cook evenly.

Toss chopped polenta + the rest of the ingredients into a bowl.

Place polenta croutons on prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.

Flip and bake an additional 15 minutes.  Or until golden brown and crisp.

How many polenta croutons should one eat in a sitting?  Asking for a friend.

These little fuckers are dangerous…just FYI!

THREE – Mascara Primer // New Product alert.  I know I say this all the time, but you guys…I found an amazing product.  Mascara Primer.  I’d honestly never even heard of it till last week.  Used this product everyday this week and the only thing I can say: So pissed I didn’t know about this sooner.  It’s life changing!  I coat my eyelashes with primer.  The primer is white, just fyi.  Let it dry for a sec, then top with my STILL fave mascara (L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise)  You’ll never guess how much this primer costs?

{how to make the most of your weekend}

IMG_1591.JPG

Why is it that the week days go by so damn slow, but you blink and the weekend is OVER?  Between checking off all the household chores + grocery shopping + trying to cram as many fun activities as humanly possible, there is never enough time to get it all done.  Then before you know it, the Monday scaries kick in.

The question I get ALL THE TIME…..

“how do you find the time on the weekends”

I’m going to share tips on how to make the most of your weekend.  I bust my ass all week, so that I can do my thang on the weekend.

My idea of the perfect weekend is one that leaves me feeling not only recharged, but accomplished and ready to take on the next 5 grueling work week days.

Plan ahead //

Buy the concert tickets.  Make reservations at the restaurant you’ve been dying to try.   Google fun things to-do in the area you want to spend some time.  Pencil in some ideas.  Having something to look forward to will give you a little extra momentum to get you through the week.  You will be dancing in place, come Friday!

{spring to-do’s}

IMG_1441.PNG

And just like that, it’s SPRING!  To say I am excited for the season change is an understatement.  I’m sure you’re sick of hearing me talk about it.  Spring always seems to be the season we wait the longest for.  Rain and all, I’ve got my eye on the long warm sunny days to come!

The shift from Winter to Spring always leaves me feeling super inspired too.  Always craving to create + explore after the Winter blues (which is a legit real thing).  I think we all, mentally NEED Spring..lol.  Everything seems to suddenly come to life.  Colorful life.

Last night I threw together a Spring mood/inspiration board (pictured above) with all the images that have been catching my eye lately.  Add the wooden flower from our Park Winters Garden Tour.  The pretty pom-pom tassel I originally got for Bay’s Easter basket.  And lastly, wrapped twine around a bunch of ranunculus to dry.

Another way Spring inspires me is by compiling our Spring list of the fun things we plan on creating + making + exploring + doing + wearing ♥

Keeping a running list is a great way to remember all seasonal things you enjoy doing or look forward to do.  When we have a free weekend, I like to refer to our To-Do’s and check items off as we go.

{a little of this + a little of that}

IMG_0981.JPG

Happy Hump Day!

I was originally going to share an asparagus salad recipe, but frankly (that just aged me lol)….I’m STILL sick of talking/writing about food since last week’s TJ’s recipe round-up.

So, let’s just chat about some random stuff (I really wanted to say s*#%) that’s on my mind today…..

IMG_0982

A couple of weeks ago, on our way home from the Almond Festival, I had Bay hop out of the car and we took some pictures in an almond orchard off the side of the road.

She didn’t have any shoes on…lol.

And the bees were going crazy.

But, we got a couple of good ones.

I get to keep these forever.

And I’ll remember that day forever.

I will always be the crazy lady snapping pictures of anything + everything.  For that reason.  Photos are memories ♥

Today, after the 2-day cleanse, I started the first day of my sugar detox.  No wine.  No girl scout cookies.  Pray for me, K!?!?!

Speaking of Girl Scout cookies + wine….have you seen this pairing chart FML!

5 days till Spring!!  That means it can’t rain anymore and the temps rise to 80, right?

Working on planning all the details for Spring Break.  I took the week off work to hang with Bay and I cannot wait!  Hopefully we’ll be having fun in the sun.  And a pit stop in San Diego to see Scarlet ♥

Tonight is the Lee Middle School parent night.  I will be a mom of a middle schooler in 5 months.  FIVE MONTHS!

My mom had Bay build her a shoe organizer today.  She sent me a picture and it kinda made my day.  I highly recommend you buy a cheapy shoe organizer like I did here.  I promise it will make you so incredibly happy.

Another price adjustment today on these and these.  Bringing my total to $20 for two pairs of shorts for Bay.  Always, always call and get a price adjustment peeps!

Cut my hair again yesterday.  Shorter + blonder!  Thanks Allison!

Grab this eyelash seperator on your next Target run.  It’s so good!
