So, I joined Weight Watchers! Some of you are into it. And some of you definitely are not. That’s totally fine. Since I’ve been getting a butt load of DM’s and questions, I’m going to share ALL THE THING Weight Watchers today. This is 100% my personal opinion. I am by NO means a health expert…lol. Just sharing what I know in hopes of answering some of your questions.

Backstory, I used Weight Watchers after Bailey was born – back in 2007. I lost over 25 lbs and became a lifetime member. Then…..I quit going.

My girlfriend Toni, who recently started Weight Watchers for the first time totally inspired me to go back. After hearing about her 18 lbs weight loss, I knew it was time to get my ass in gear. I recruited the OG’s, My Mom and Sister to join with me. Love you girls and thank you for all the support, recipe sharing, text messages! Let’s do this!

Does Weight Watchers really work?

Here we go…..I started Weight Watchers last Thursday, March 7th.

Today marks 1 week using the plan. Following it 100%. Some workouts + walking. But, mainly focusing on tracking my food. I did my weekly weigh in this morning and here are my results…….

Thursday, March 7th: 165.8 lbs

TODAY: 157.4 lbs

Total loss: 8.4 lbs

If I could do a cartwheel, I would! This is proof my friends, Weight Watchers works, it you’re willing to put in the work.

Note: I also gave up booze for lent. This is a huge contributing factor. I know this 5% body weight loss isn’t normal. Next week I’ll probably lose .5 lol.

What plan did you choose?

There are 3 plans to choose from:

  • Digital: You have access to the app + website for $19/month

When and how did you start?

Last Thursday, I did my initial weight and began using the app, which is an amazing tool! Tracking everything I eat. Even if I only take a bit or two. Syncing my FitBit to the WW app to track my activity. Focusing on lots of water. To be honest, I didn’t even think about my activity/FitBit daily goal. I had to give tracking my food 100% of my time and energy. Once I master this, then I’ll get back to hitting activity goals.

Is the app easy to use?

If you’re familiar with MyFitnessPal, this is really similar. Except each food item calculates a point value instead of calories.

There is a handy dandy scanner. So you just scan the bar code on a food package and it calculates the points per serving.

The app breaks down each meal: breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.

If there is a meal you frequent, like my eggs I have every single morning. This can be saved as a “meal” so you can transfer it over to the next day and so on.

Recipes can be created. By adding each ingredient and setting the amount of servings. I just created our meal plan for next week in the app. This takes a lot if time. But also saves me so much time. I’m a major planner, if you haven’t noticed. You 100% don’t have to be though. You can wing it. My first few days I had NO plan set in place. I just scanned EVERYTHING. And I still lost weight. You do you!

While I was ordering my groceries for Walmart Pick up and making my Trader Joe’s list. I added each recipe I plan to make in the app. Made a list of ideas for lunches and snacks too. I now know how many points are in each serving.

How many points do you get?

I personally get 22 points per day.

Everyone is different. Daily food points are based on the following:

  • gender
  • weight
  • height
  • age
  • activity level

You can use this calculator to get an idea. Just FYI, when I enter my stats it was close, but not completely accurate. Weight Watchers Calculator

150 – 174 lbs (20-25 points)

175 – 199 lbs (22-27 points)

200 – 224 lbs (24-29 points)

225-249 lbs (26-31 points)

Can you really eat whatever you want?

Yes and No. Each food item has a point value. And you want to stay within your daily points. So, it’s totally up to you how you want to use them. You can break them up and use 1/3 for breakfast. 1/3 at lunchtime. 1/3 at dinner. Or go to Taco Bell and kill a Beefy 5-Layer Burrito (my personal fave TB item) For 14 points. Then kick it and eat 0 point items the rest of the day.

There are 200+ 0 point foods. Check it out here: Zero Point Foods I made a salad over the weekend with all kinds of goodies: romaine, hard boiled egg, bacon bits, tomatoes, celery, carrots, salsa, shredded chicken and it was 0 points for the entire thing.

But a Peanut Butter Oreo = 3 points each.

And 2 tablespoons of peanut butter = 6 points

I’m constantly texting my mom, sister + Toni with food replacements and ideas.

Is it embarrassing weighing in a public place?

Nope! Not at all. Look around the room and everyone is there for the exact same thing. All shapes and sized. Everyone has the same thing in common. Although the scale is in a big open room with people all around…the only people that can see your weight is you and the Weight Watchers rep. That’s it. It’s logged in the computer and your app updates within an hour. Not a single person there (other than you and the rep) will ever know your weight.

You can put in your zip code and all the meeting/weigh-in times + dates in your area are listed. Check it out here: Find a Studio. You just show up. Weigh. Stay for the meeting, if you’re feelin it. Or peace out!

I hope this helps some of you that are unfamiliar with Weight Watchers. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to message me. DM me. Leave a comment. I’ll be happy to give you my feedback!

    1. I’ll be sharing my food log from Wednesday. I had 3 meals + snacks and they were all zero points. Didn’t used a single point all day. It will be on the blog today 🙂
