{pizzeria salad}

You guys – I am trying so hard to get my recipes posted here on the blog. I have so many good ones that I can’t wait to share. For some reason I dread writing them out and posting them. But, I have told myself a recipe each week. Think I can stick with it? We shall see….

This week I have the Pizzeria Salad. I made this the night before school started. And my DM’s went crazy. It was hot as hell outside, so I think a fresh salad just looked super refreshing. Speaking of refreshing – I just refreshed my memory of this day. Our AC took a shit this day. It was a blazing 105 degrees out. I drove to Sac to pick up a pizza from Lou’s Detroit Style Pizza. Have you heard of them? If not, do me a favor and go check them out: Lou’s Detroit Style Pizza. We got the peperoni and it was life changing. HA! I am a major pizza lover and I don’t think I had ever had a Detroit Style pizza till then. I typically stick to a thin crust. The thick buttery crust was unbelievable. The drive was worth it. I am totally getting sidetracked. Just passionate about pizza πŸ™‚

Anyway, I paired our Pizzeria Salad with Lou’s Pizza and it was BOMB! Next time you have pizza on the menu, pair it with this salad. It’s called balance!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • chopped lettuce (whatever you have or love)
  • chopped cherry tomatoes
  • chopped pepperoni
  • sliced olives
  • sliced pepperoncini’s
  • shredded mozzarella
  • red pepper flakes
  • oregano
  • olive oil
  • balsamic vinegar
  • salt + pepper

Here’s what you’ll do:

In a big bowl, add chopped lettuce. And kind you have or love will work. I used a mixture that I had in the fridge. Top lettuce with cherry tomatoes + pepperoni + olives + pepperoncini’s + mozzarella cheese. Just eyeball it!!

Sprinkle top of salad with red pepper flakes + dried oregano. Drizzle with olive oil + balsamic vinegar.

Give the salad a good toss and sprinkle with flakey salt + pepper right before serving.

ENJOY!!!
