{valentine’s day melt away cookies}

Soft buttery cookie with an extra sweet icing.

Made these with Bay over the weekend and I know why they are referred to as “melt away”

They legit melt away AKA disappear.

Found this recipe on Living with Landyn. Changed it up a bit to make it perfect for Valentine’s Day!

This is a great recipe to make with kids. Super easy and chances are – you already have the ingredients in your pantry.

  • Servings: 2 dozen
  • Difficulty: easy

  • 2 cups margarine (must be margarine)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups flour


  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Pinch of salt
  • Food coloring

Here’s what you’ll do:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Cream margarine + sugar + salt together.

Add vanilla then stir in flour.

Roll dough into tablespoon size balls and place on cookie sheet.

Make thumbprint in dough (that’s where the icing will go)

Bake cookies for 10-12 minutes.

For Icing:

Mix all ingredients together with a fork until smooth and free of lumps.

Once cookies are cool, fill each thumb print with icing.

Top with sprinkles
