{holiday mini reset}

Ha! A girl can dream, right?

Tis the season to be busy. The other week, I ran around like a fucking mad woman. I didn’t even realize how mentally exhausted I was till I finally stopped. Work. Kid. Blogging. Social Media side hustle. Christmas Shopping. Holidays. Trying to be a good friend + mom + sister + daughter. And I’m still trying to make the season magical AF! Here’s what I did to hit my reset button! Before I lost my shit!

Step away from your phone | I spend so much of my precious time mindlessly scrolling. Sometimes I even do it without noticing. I used to scroll to relax. But, getting sucked into Instagram for hours is certainly not helpful. And most of the time more stressful. Don’t get me wrong, I still spend plenty of time on social media. It’s my little side hustle. But, when I’m feeling stressed, it’s best to chill on the gram for a bit.

Get outside | Even if it’s just to sit on the porch and drink your coffee. Or go for a walk. I’m always amazed at something so simple as fresh air can do for the soul.

Stick to your routine | When life gets busy it’s really, really easy to throw your routine aside and go into survival mode. I’ve been there many times. I find that getting up early and going to the gym, going for a walk or even taking time to do some chores, helps keep me feel grounded and less scattered.

Break plans | Sounds bitchy, but sometimes it’s 100% necessary. It’s so easy to overextend and over-plan this time of year. Your people will understand. Sometimes.

Plan a stay home day | Sad that I say “plan” right? Pick a night, once a week. And straight up stay home. Put on your pajamas at 5pm. Order pizza. Watch movies. Kick it hard! Last night was our “stay home” night and we made baked potatoes for dinner, painted our nails, face masks and watched our favorite trash TV. It was heavenly!

Make a list | Once I get it on paper or the notes section in my phone, then it’s off my mind and I can focus on other things. I like to do a brain dump before I go to bed at night. I shit you not – I sleep so much better. Delegate some of the chores or to-do’s. Bailey is now a teenager and totally capable of helping with things around the house.

Phone a friend | Or your Mom. I swear talking about the shit that’s on my mind or bothering me really helps. My Mom has a way of putting things into perspective.

Treat yourself | Self care is so important. And can mean so many different things. I wrote a blog post all about my fave ways to treat myself: {treat yourself}

Go to sleep | Wash your sheets. Slip into your favorite pajamas. And call it a night. 7pm isn’t too early, if you ask me! Never underestimate the power of a good nights sleep!

Sounds silly, but I’ve been practicing these things religiously and I think it’s helping. I did loose my shit Monday morning when I found my Christmas tree had fallen over. Crushed ornaments and lights. lol!
