Anyone in a funk today? I swear every.single.person I’ve chatted with this week has said their day has just been off. Or weird. Even the cashier at Old Navy told me, “today literally sucks!” So I googled it.
I don’t get too caught up in things, but I knew something was up! So if your day is just not normal and you can’t figure out what is up. Blame it on Mercury! Then do something nice for yourself.
What do you do to get out of a funk or make yourself happier? Here’s what I try to do…..
- Put on your fave pandora station and rock out. Dr. Dre Radio does it for me!
- Go outside. It’s frickin beautiful. The sun is good for the soul.
- Do something for you! Get a mani. Happy hour with a girlfriend. Buy a cute top (that’s what I always do) lol.
- Give yourself a compliment. When’s the last time you did that? Look at yourself in the mirror and say “I am a bad ass b*#@ and I got this!”
- Put away your phone. Unless you’re watching ashleylongshoreart hilarious videos. They always make me laugh out loud.
Smile homegirl. Tomorrow is a new day:)
And back to the regularly scheduled Easter Egg post……
I got some crap for hard boiling my Easter eggs so soon. It’s a bloggers life….lol. I do everything wayy before. Wayyy too early. That way I can share all my tips + tricks to all my peeps. So when I hard boil my eggs over a week early, that’s why. Mmmkaayyy!
One year, a while back…..Bay was probably 5 ish years old? I think. Someone got tipsy and forgot to dye the Easter eggs the night before. Because back then, I did everything last-minute. So, the Easter Bunny hid plain white hard-boiled eggs.
Don’t let this happen to you. You’ll never live it down. Trust me!
So, don’t bust a girls balls for hard-boiling + decorating Easter Eggs “too soon!” You never know the backstory….lol.
That was a lot of rambling….
Ready for the Easter Egg decorating yet?
Marble Easter Eggs //
Remember when I did the {marbled pumpkin diy} for Halloween? This is basically the same thing.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- hard-boiled eggs
- Nail Polish. The cheap shit. Good ol Wet & Wild. I raided Bay’s polish collection for 3 colors that looked pretty together. And combo will do the trick.
- Water bucket. Make sure it’s deep enough to fully submerge the eggs.
- Room Temperature Water. Must be room temp so the polish will spread easily.
- Sheet of wax paper. For drying.
- Gloves or nail polish remover.
WARNING: Don’t try this with a fresh mani. You’ll hate me!
I was Bay’s assistant with this project. But, she did all the dirty work. We didn’t have any gloves and my nails were freshly painted….lol.
It can be messy. And nail polish can be stinky. Especially Wet & Wild. The end result….totally worth it!
Here’s how you do it:
Have all supplies ready. You will need to work fast.
With a bucket full of room temp water, shake nail polish brushes over the water. Close to the water or the polish will sink.
Do this with all 3 colors.
We used pink, hot pink + blue.
Carefully holding the ends of the egg with your thumb + index finer, submerge the egg into the water. Dunk the egg sideways and roll it slowly.
The polish will stick to the egg like a magnet.
Remove egg and set on wax paper to dry.
Repeat if you want more marbling on the egg. We dunked a second time on a few of them.
Allow to dry for a couple of hours in the fridge.
That’s it peeps. Kids can totally do this. Your house will reek of nail polish, but you will have some pretty pumpkins 🙂
Decoupage Easter Eggs //
Another easy egg decorating idea! Martha Stewart did it, so I gave it a try. Martha cut out each flower from the napkin and did them individually. Aint nobody got time for that.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- hard-boiled eggs
- scisors
- patterned paper napkins
- mod podge
- foam paint brush
Once again, we had all these items on hand. Remember when I used to be a crazy crafter? I miss those days. The Holidays are typically the only time I bust out the crafts. I sold all my paper punches + stamps + scrapbook paper + paper cutters when I moved. I legit have ONE little tub left.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Separate the two layers of the napkin. Discard the white piece.
Coat the backside of the printed napkin with mod podge. Don’t be stingy.
Set the egg on one corner of the egg and begin to roll and smooth the napkin out as you go.
Trim off access napkin and smooth out all the wrinkles.
Paint egg over the entire egg with more mod podge.
Allow to dry.
And here is the finished product.
They aren’t perfect, but so pretty.
A couple of years ago I did the shaving cream eggs. Super easy and perfect for toddler aged kiddos.
Have fun! And tag me if you re-create one our egg ideas so I can see 🙂
