Ain’t that the truth. This weekend was gone in a flash. Monday’s are my busiest day of the week. And I’ve already got my focus on the weekend to come…lol. Here’s to a new week with a fresh start. New goals to accomplish!!
The weekend was a busy one. Here’s what we were up to:
Friday I got the day off work….Wooohoo. That never happens. We had appointments + flu shots and Bailey had NO school so we took advantage of it.

When you walk past a rainbow of poles, you stop and take a picture:)
I’m so happy she loves getting her picture taken as much as I like taking them.
As we drove down L street we came up on our State Capitol. It’s breathtaking. I don’t know that I’ve ever taken the time to admire it’s true beauty. We stopped so I could explain to Bailey. There was a parking spot right up front. We decided we wanted to walk up and take a selfie. Duh! We noticed all the kids and people walking in, so there we went. Walked right into a tour that was about to start. It was meant to be. We oohhed and ahhed as we walked down the halls, through the staircases and rode the elevators. I had no idea the beauty or history. Bailey and I were equally amazed. Guided tours take place every day of the week. Check out more info and tour times here.

Friday night we went downtown to check out the First Friday Art Walk. It’s so cool how our little downtown has really livened up. Music, lights, wine tasting, art…etc. So much to see and do. We made a special trip to pick up Bailey’s Artful plate she painted a couple weeks ago. It was fired and placed on display at Poppies. She was so proud to see her art piece displayed.

Sweet Potato Pie + Poppies Gallery will be hosting a Clay Ornament Paint Class for kids ages 5-12 this month. Classes will be held at Sweet Potato Pie on November 20th, 23rd and 24th. $15/kid and they will be able to paint two ornaments. Call and register asap – 530-662-8000. Bailey is pumped!!
Saturday morning I met up with one of my girlfriends to craft. We find cute ideas on Pinterest to tackle. Gather materials and champagne. Then we meet up for the morning and get our craft on while the kids play. We’ve been doing this for years. Typically around Holidays. We’ve made banners, coasters, canned food – all kinds of fun things. In our PJ’s with champs in hand – here’s what we made this time.

Scraps from the Truitt’s old backyard fence.

Sarah white washed each board. She is the white washing queen. Her method is brilliant. Mix white paint with water. Then dip an old rag in the paint and rub the paint across the board. It made for a perfect rustic white wash. I would have never thought.

Alex saved the day and helped us assemble the trees. There are 25 nails spread across the tree limbs to hang little goodies for the 25 days in December till Christmas.
Since I’ve already decorated for Christmas ( I know, I know – I’m crazy) I plan to dangle ornaments, decorative items, tree clippings, and notes. When it’s time to actually use the advent calendar, on December 1st, I will hang wrapped gifts for Bailey to open. Possibly add some fun holiday activities written on cards to hang and also be opened. Ice skating, hot chocolate night, Christmas light drive, caroling, holiday crafts, St Nick night and more as I think of them…haha.
This link here was our inspiration for the Wood Tree Advent.
I just love the way they turned out. Big shout out to the Truitt’s!!
Saturday night I dolled up my girl for the Father Daughter Dance. Nails, makeup, hair and all. She looked gorgeous. And the best part, she felt gorgeous too. She packed lip gloss in her sparkly purse. She told me that she ONLY had to excuse herself the ladies room 10 times to re-apply. They danced the night away and made forever memories.

While Bailey boogied out to the Macarena and Taylor Swift, I attended Conclave. A yearly event where all the Omega Nu Chapters in California get together to celebrate. Our chapter, Alpha Gama hosted 120 sisters this weekend. Meetings and mingling over cocktails. Installation of new officers. Hypnotizing. Yes, we had a hypnotist. I was a little skeptical, but it was definitely the most entertaining thing I’ve ever witnessed.

The hypnotist had them dancing, doing Elvis impersonations, smelling each other…..you name it, they did it. We laughed our asses off.

My Denim + Diamond theme nametag and bling.

My pledge group, our pledge instructor and the two who got us all involved.
I’m so very grateful to have these girls by my side. Omega Nu is something new to me and I love that I get to experience it with this group of gals. And our new pledges to join this year. I see great things to come for our chapter.
I spent the rest of my Sunday afternoon relaxing and meal prepping for the week.
Come back tomorrow to see what’s cooking in our kitchen this week.
