We still had time for some crafting.

Sand dollar Christmas Ornaments.

Each year we make an ornament for our tree.  Something that symbolizes the year.  Something significant and meaningful.  I kept stalking Pinterest and couldn’t come up with anything.  Then it hit me, we need to do something beach themed.  If you have a beach loving family like we do, this is a great way to commemorate your 2015 beach trips.

We spend every Labor Day weekend in Santa Cruz, Ca.  We make a point to stop at Manresa Beach early in the day to collect Sand Dollars.  The kids call it Sand dollar beach.  I’ve never in my life had much luck finding them till we began visiting this beach.  We’ve got quite the collection.

It’s simple to do.

What you need:

  • Sand dollars or sea shells
  • Hot Glue gun
  • ribbon

I hot glued one end of the ribbon to the back of the sand dollar.  Let it dry for a minute.  Then looped the ribbon around and hot glue to hold.  That’s it.  Pretty easy, right?  I didn’t get a photo of the back of the finished product, but I wrote Santa Cruz 2015.

We made an extra one to send to our yearly sand dollar hunting partners.

I found TONS of other fun seashell ideas on Pinterests:
