Our living room in complete. I’m finally feeling like this space is just how I want it. Other than a plug behind the tv (evidence below) sharing all the details + links for everything. Found so many affordable decor pieces. And the hook for the fireplace tools came out just how I’d hoped

So many of you are in the same boat. Looking for reasonable priced fireplace screens. Tools. Decor! Instead of just sharing the info on Instagram stories, I wanted to have a landing place for all the details. With shoppable links and get more into the details.

Flowers are 100% always Trader Joe’s. I have a few vessels that I swap around the house, but I keep them very simple. Glass or white. I say simple, some say boring…ha! They can basically go with any arrangement in any room at any time.

Before I dive right in….let’s take it back. I have a few blog posts about this space. When we moved in I knew I had to change it a bit. Lighten it up. Make it feel more homey.

{new home | living room} this post was written back in July when our furniture was delivered. After 25 days of sitting in camp chairs, it was a VERY happy day!

{fall mantel decor} toward the end of September, I decided to paint the dark grey brick bright white. It’s actually whiter than our walls….if you look up real close. And it’s amazing at how much lighter the whole room felt instantly.

{weekend notes // painting the inside of the fireplace} then later in October, I got a wild hair and decided to paint the inside of the fireplace. I used a heat resistant paint so it’s totally safe. And once again, it made such a HUGH difference. I highly recommend doing this and I plan to do it yearly.

{top 20 christmas movies | garland diy} decorated for the Holidays in December might have been my all time favorite.

And this morning, this is our everyday fireplace/mantel look.

Before…..

Not bad at all, I just hated the dark grey painted brick. Black would have even been fine, just not the grey.

I stalked Target for this Metal Banana Log Carrier. I wanted something natural with lots of texture to soften all the black + white. The Studio Mcgee collection is so fucking good.

I legit hauled wood into the house at 6am this morning just to take these photos. ha! I needed wood to get the real feel…ya know what I mean 🙂

I had envisioned using a hook on the side of the fireplace brick to eliminate the ugly fireplace tool stand. They take up so much space and to be honest, they’re not aesthetically pleasing whatsoever.

I thought Cory would for sure say it wasn’t a good idea. But, he was on board. Also, finding good heavy duty + study fireplace tools with a hook at the top. Now that was a who new chore. Once again, went all over looking and found the perfect set. Tossed the stand and it worked perfectly.

I had my heart SET on the Pottery Barn fireplace screen that costs over $300. Cory said No way Jose. So I hit the internet hardcore. I wanted a single panel. Flat. And it had to rest on the bottom….no gaps. I took a chance on this Black Wrought Iron Single-Panel Fireplace Screen and it was perfect. It’s so satisfying finding a killer dupe and saving a shit-ton of money!

It fits the space + my vision just how I’d hoped it would. Saved me over $200 too!

I’d have to say, the most asked about item, since sharing last week…..

The middle finger hand…lol! It can do all the hand gestures, this one is just my favorite.

And just to keep it really, real. This is what the other side of the fireplace looks like when I’m taking photos….lol! Messy AF! I can tuck most of it behind the TV, but we have cords going down to the plug. Next project is adding plugs behind the TV. Which will require tapping + texturing + paint. So, I’ll deal with the cords for a bit!
