{2018 intentions}

While 2017 was a good year, I just know that 2018 is going to be even better!!  So excited for a fresh new start.  And….THIRTY SIX.  Holy shit!  How did that happen?  Ha.

It’s that time were we all set resolutions.  Some love em’ and some hate em’.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those “new year, new me” bullshit artists.  I’m still the same ol’ chardonnay guzzling, F bomb dropping, crazy bitch that I was December 31st.  But why not set some realistic achievable goals?  Intentions.  New habits.  Shit you want to do that would make you feel better.  Make you happier.  I guarantee if you consistently add a few “good things” to your routine, by the time 2019 rolls around you’ll be happier + healthier + stronger + calmer and enjoying the hell out of life.

I truly believe that you have to write that shit down.  Put pen to the paper.  Writing them down gives them power.  Too much?  I swear by it.

And without further ado……

Here’s what I’ve got planned to improve my overall health + happiness for 2018!

Punctuality //

If you know me, then you know I’m ALWAYS late.  Like 20 minutes late.  At least…FML!  I hate it.  Such a terrible way to start the day or plans.  Being late leaves me frazzled and feeling like a total ass.  My co-workers are going to fall out of their seats if I can keep this up!

Update: We’re on week 3 of January and I’m happy to report I haven’t been late yet!!!

Learn to take a break instead of give-up //

One of my biggest weaknesses is feeling overwhelmed or tired and just throwing in the towel.  With fitness.  Healthy eating.  Projects.  My plan is to start each day as a new fresh start.

Schedule a date with someone I care about each week //

We all have packed schedules and busy lives and maintaining friendships + relationships can get pushed to the bottom of the priority list.  I find that some of my most valued time is the time spent with family + friends.  My plan is to look at my week and carve out time for a lunch, workout, phone call or even a glass of wine sitting on the couch.  I want my peeps to know how much I truly care about them!!!

No Big Deal attitude //

What I mean by this is, don’t sweat the small stuff.  I’d much rather save my time + energy for the “big stuff” in my life.  Instead of taking up too much time for the things that really don’t matter and won’t matter next week.  NBD!  You will be seeing + hearing this a lot more!

My personal word of the year:

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.

I try to remind myself that when the determination of January begins to fade, DON’T GIVE UP!  These goals aren’t all-or-nothing.  These goals are about doing something good for myself.  Goals that I can work on all year long.  If I miss the mark (which I will) once or twice along the way….I’m going to keep trucking.  Start over fresh the next day!

I know I’m a little late to the resolution/goal game, but have you sat down and thought about your 2018 goals yet?  Have you written them down?  If not, do it.  Make shit happen!
