Friiiidaaayyyyy! 11 days left till SPRING! (I just googled it) Goodbye Winter. Gimme all the sunshine. I woke up early AF, like always. I made the decision to skip the gym and clean my house for 2 hours. And I feel really fucking happy about that decision. There’s something to be said about starting your day with a workout, trust me, I get it. But, leaving for work on a Friday morning with a clean AF house. It’s pretty close up there too. I did a little shimmy as I walked out the door. Ha!

Weekend plans: zip. zlich. nada. Which makes me slightly anxious. Being sober and all. What will I do all day? Anyway, have a great weekend! Do all the things. Have a drink or two for me, k?

Hey Monday! Anyone else think the Monday after Super Bowl should be a holiday? Because, hot damn, I’m tired. And I was in bed by 8pm. Technically I didn’t really even watch the Super Bowl. Really, I was just there for the food + booze + commercials. I bought a shit-ton of pool squares and didn’t win a dime. Typical. Our weekend was everything I’d hoped it would be. Chill AF. But, I still accomplished all the things too.

Highlights from the weekend……

We started the weekend off with face mask night. Minus Kissey (she was sick) so we’ll have to do it again soon. My Mom had never done a face mask before so we treated her. I tried to get her to let me shave her lips too, but it was a no go. Maybe next time.

September was a quick month…blog-wise. I took a solid week off and spent some time working behind the scenes. Lots of coding…which it quit possibly the worst thing ever.

We’ve got a new look. A face-lift, I like to call it. When I started this blog…over 3 years ago, I obvi had a totally different style. Polka dots aren’t really my jam anymore 🙂

You’ll notice I added a “Print” option for recipes. Sounds like you guys are loving this feature the most!

It’s Friday. I got a job. And I’ve got a shit-ton to do. Ha! But, I don’t have a single plan for the whole damn weekend. You guys, I’m going to drink coffee on my couch in my PJ’s tomorrow morning. And again Sunday morning too. It’s been so long. And maybe a little day-date with my girl. Nephews football game. Meal prep. Outfit prep. Done! Oh, I did splurge and grab some extra wine. So, I’ll be gettin tips too! I almost forgot… the one thing I’m most looking forward to (other than drinking wine + coffee obvi) shampooing the seats in my car…Ha! It’s the little things peeps. ONE – A Star Is Born // Oh man everyone keeps saying how great the new Gaga + Bradley Cooper movie is. I have my fingers crossed I can sneak away at some point and go see it. For those of you that have seen it….on a scale from 1 to 10. How good is it?

TWO – Target Basket // Posted a photo of the basket I found at Target yesterday. You guys clearly liked it as much as I did. My ShopStyle account as of this morning showed 5 basket orders. The weeks are long and the weekends short. Am I right? Never enough time. Although the weekend was gone in a hot one, it was a damn good one. Bay’s first middle school dance. She looked so pretty. Double date with the Truitts…that ended in a girls against boys basketball game. Apple picking. Really good margaritas. Little Mermaid in Carmel. And prepping for the week ahead. Thanks Hostert’s for showing us a good time!

And just like that, I dropped Bay off at her first middle school dance. Is it just me or does she look 15 here? OMG!!

While Bay did the Kiki, we went on a double date with the Truitt’s. It was nice change to get out with no kids and catch up.

We peeked in the window at the new Avila Winters. Oh man, you guys need to go ASAP!

Saturday morning treats at High Voltage Donuts. We made a pit stop on our way to Salinas to try out the ever so famous baked donuts.

The bacon maple was a runner-up. Along with the circus cookie. Never trued the flaming hot…totally forgot.

Bay is in sweet tooth heaven.

Saturday was the official First Day of Fall!

So we did the only logical thing…..

Apple picking. The fallest fall thing to do 🙂 Gizdich Ranch in Watsonville is pretty bad ass. We spent the afternoon walking though the apple orchards.

Sorry for the bit of radio silence yesterday, it has been a crazy week. I worked on this post and just flat-out ran out of time. Some posts take a hell of a lot longer to write than others.

Today is the day. The day I’ve been looking forward to for 30 days. Can you guess why?

My spending freeze has come to an end!!!

Yesterday, actually. (Remember this post is a day late)

I had originally planned to spend my beloved lunch break at the one, the only, Target. I have been in the store ONCE in the last 30-days. And it was only to pick up an order for Bay. Not me.

But, my homegirl Sarah P posted that Trader Joe’s FINALLY got their pumpkins. Detour! I ended up spending an entire hour stacking pumpkins and sending Sarah pictures. Because my indecisive ass can’t make big decisions like this alone.

Proof – Just like Rachel Hollis preaches, when you give something up for 30 days, your relationship with said item, forever changes. I truly believe this! Not like I’m never going to shop again. But, it wasn’t the first thing I did. Which is shocking as shit!

Now today, shit. Today is a different story. Once I had time to really gather ALL THE THINGS that I’ve had my eye one, I pulled the trigger on another J.Crew order. Ha!

On Monday, August 20th the hardest 30-days even began. I kept a little journal…..

I’m not going to lie. I cheated a littttle bit. In my defense, I had NO fucking clue how hard not shopping would actually be. I mean, I gave up booze for 30-days. So, this should be cake, right? NEGATIVE!

August 20th – What the FUCK Madewell? Promo codes on my first day of a shopping freeze? Alex called and rubbed it in a little. It burned..lol.

Memorial Day Weekend always gets me so excited. The unofficial start of Summer! Just reminds me of everything that’s right around the corner. Longer evening. Sunny days. Pool days. Barbecuing. Cut-off + flip flops. Lots of cold rosé. Happy hours. Family vacations. Celebrations. Long weekends. There is no better way to welcome summer, than to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend.

Weekend plans: Potter Valley Rodeo! I haven’t been to a rodeo in yearrrsss. Pretty pumped to dust off my shit kickers. Some kayaking is on the agenda. Lots of beer drinking. And sunshine. Whatever you do, make it a good one!

ONE – Saved By The Max // Did anyone else DIE over the Vanderpump Rules cast at The Max? Raise your hand if you grew up on Saved By The Bell? Zack ♥ You guys, I googled that shit. There is a legit pop-up in West Hollywood. It’s called Saved By The Max. ANYONE can go. It looks just like the Max too! Kinda like the Museum Of Ice Cream + The Color Factory, but all about Saved By The Bell. Basically it’s a place to go and get all the cool pictures that are wayyy insta worthy!

$40 a person and you can choose Brunch or Dinner in either The Max or Mr. Belding’s Office.

TWO – Cilantro Vinaigrette // You will want to put this shit on EVERYTHING! Swear. Sandwiches. Salads. Over cheese…yum. Put a dollop over hummus. Toss with your veggies and roast. I even added some to ranch dressing. WOW! I’m going to marinade chicken in the little bit that I have left. It’s got a little kick, but Bay didn’t seem to notice.

I’m tell you this stuff is gold.

Here’s what you’ll need:

big ass bunch of cilantro (or 2 small ones)
1/2 cup olive oil (still in love with Seka Hills evoo)
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 clove garlic
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Toss everything in the food processor. Blend for about 1 minutes, until everything is nice and smooth.

Pour into a mason jar and pop in the fridge.

THREE – Crop Top // Boxy + cropped + structured = perfect. Just gimme all the crop tops! I’m hooked on this look. Front tucked. Totally tucked. Loving it! And it’s pink. Not only am I a sucker for a good striped tee, you make it pink and sold! If you’re down with crop tops, grab this before it’s gone!

Hello, hello and Happy Friday. TFGIF! This week was touch + go. I’m happy to report, I survived! Can you believe we’re at the tail end of January ALREADY! I think I’m finally ready to tackle the new year. The struggle has been real! Like really real. How about you?

Weekend plans?

Kick it with the Truitt’s….it’s been too long. Maybe sneak in one more movie? Smother my girl till she’s sick of me. Make + shoot an arugula salad to share next week. The weather channel says 64 degrees Sunday (no rain). Maybe even a little sunshine. So, I hope to be outside for more than like, half a second for once.

Let’s get to the 5 things on my mind today……

ONE – New Logo // Did you catch a peak at the new logo I added to the blog? Isn’t she pretty? I’ve been on the hunt for something with a little color to brighten up the site a bit. When they talk about the January blues….they aint joking. I have never been so ready for some sunshine + 70 degrees in my whole life. So I thought I’d fill my house with pretty blooms. And a pretty floral logo to make me smile. Flowers have been proven to be a mood lifter…I wrote about it here: {friday 5}

TWO – Another stripe top // You will never believe it!!! I fell in love with another stripe top! This one is so good that I recommend you stop what you’re doing and order it NOW! Or go to Arden and find one in-store. That’s where I picked this one up, since all the sizes are just about sold out online. Perfect henley neckline. And it’s fitted. Which you all know I love. The tighter the better…lol. This one doesn’t get all stretched out either. I’m here to tell you about all the good shit you “need” and this is at the top of the list today!

THREE – The Commons Farm Kitchen + Bar, Guinda // Found this little gem on FB a couple of weeks ago. It randomly popped up in my feed. The restaurant recently opened in December. This little roadside spot has been so many different restaurants in the past. I really hope this one sticks.

Obsessed with the bar stools right out front. I can see myself squating there for a cold one, come summertime.
