{DIY $12 eucalyptus wreath}

img_0084

Annnnndd it’s FRIDAY!

Can I get a hell yeah?!?!  Hell Yeah!

Did you catch what Bay baked in my Instagram stories this morning?  She was asked to bring dessert to the Truitt’s house tonight and she straight up killed it.  It’s a little more formal than the occasion, but I love her creativity.

I’ve gotten lots of messages asking me to share more details.  And don’t trip chocolate chip….you know I will!

You guys, the SUN is trying so hard to come out today.  Which makes it kinda feel like beer drinking weather.  You know what I mean?  That spring weather that makes you wanna ditch work and get hammer-timed.

After all the rain lately, I think we’re all craving some vitamin D!

Anyway, switching things up today.  I just wasn’t feelin the normal {friday 5} thing.

Yes, it’s another DIY that involves eucalyptus.  You know my love for eucalyptus is REAL!  This aromatic greenery is typically referred to as a “filler” Which to me kinda means, the extra stuff.  Cheap.  Not the real thing.

img_0077

But, let’s keep it real….I would choose eucalyptus over any flower.  Wellll, maybe till Spring.  Then I may add tulips.  Only white ones though.  Ha.

You’ll find some kind of eucalyptus variety around my house year round.  And once it dries, it’s even better.

This simple DIY took me about 20 minutes.  Closer to 15ish…then an extra 5 to perfect it.

You really only need 3 things.  Unless you’re like me.  Then you’ll need all 4!

img_0125

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • grapevine wreath (I used an 18″) Joann’s // Michael’s // Amazon
  • fresh silver dollar eucalyptus ($2.99/ bunch at Trader Joe’s.  I used 3 bunches)
  • scissors
  • glass of wine

Floral Shirt $26// J.Crew Jeans $25// Mule Booties // Earrings // Bracelet

Three things are making this cold rainy Wednesday better ✨

1. My new favorite jeans 👖 and would you believe me if I told you they are only $25? I’m gonna tell you all about em.

2. Wearing bright cheery yellow tops 💛and pretending it’s not freezing cold.  Bay and I both are sharing our #ootd’s today!

3. Bay’s ring light that made these early morning photos possible. I kinda want my own 💁🏼‍♀️

(I lied 🤥, I really have 4)

4. That Bogle chardonnay 🍷 I stuck in the fridge, because today is one of them days. It’s a minimum day.  Pig pens to clean 💩. Parent conferences. And Bays receiving an award at school tonight ❤️ So I’ll be drinking my dinner. Cheers 🥂

Before we get started with #ootd’s – let’s chat about the Ring Light, since I got so many questions about it.  Bay got this for Christmas.  And it’s legit!  Our house is a serious dungeon.  We have 2 windows, throughout the entire house.  And 2 sliders.  They are the length of our bottom floor, but still.  Our shack it dark!  AKA zero natural lighting.  Which makes taking photos really tricky.  This thing is a dream come true…lol.

{caramel snickerdoodle bars}

A thick layer of caramel sandwiched between layers of white chocolate + crumbly oatmeal + cinnamon and sugar.

If you’re trying to fit into your skinny jeans.  Or on that new year, new me diet.  DON’T makes these.  I repeat….DO NOT MAKE these.  Just close this page right now and move on with your life…ha!

Bay made these right before Christmas.  And they are so bad.  In the VERY best way possible.

Crazy sweet.  Crazy good.  You can’t just have one.  You’ll go back and pick at it.  One of these kind of desserts.  Ya know what I mean?

Every time you walk past the dish, you’ll cut off a tiny little sliver.  Then next thing you know…..

They’re fucking GONE!

And no one know what happened or who ate them all.

Forreals though.

Monday!  The first Monday of 2019 that I hit the ground running.  Literally, well, more like walking…Ha!  Me and my morning walking/workout partner have been under the weather, so it was nice to get back at it today.  Our weekend was chill AF, and it was much-needed.  I heard the word “hygge” (pronounced hue-guh) for the first time and decided to embrace it.  Meaning: The Danish word for the sensation of extreme coziness and deep contentment.  Lit some candles.  Pulled out all our cozy blankets.  And straight up kicked it Sunday morning – afternoon.  I found this new eucalyptus variety at Trader Joe’s and it added the finishing touch to my coffee table vibe.

Hope you had a great weekend and are ready to kill it this week.  And if not, that’s perfectly okay too!

Intentions for the Week…..

  • Keep it simple
  • Be kind
  • Get more sleep
  • Know my limits
  • Recycle + reduce household waste
  • Worry less
  • Drink more water
  • Let shit go
  • Meditate
  • Say no without any guilt
  • Keep making ALL THE THINGS around me pretty AF

This week on the blog…..

{friday 5}

I came down with the cold of the century.  I hate to be a complainer, but this is no joke, the worst cold I’ve had.  Currently feeling bad for all my fellow peeps that said they had a bad cold and I really thought they were being a bunch of wimps.  lol.  Sorry!

Weekend plans: attending a class tonight with the deacon to prep for my nephews baptism next weekend.  I will officially be the god mother to all 3 of my sweet nephews.  Bailey gets her spring show pig, which she’s been counting down the days for.  Cory and I really want to do a hike we’ve been stalking on instagram, if I’m feeling up for it.  And I’m dying to pick up a new pair of these Madewell Jeans using my birthday giftcards at some point too.

What’s on your weekend agenda, friends?  Are you gearing up for a busy couple of days or are you ready for some down time?

ONE – Lauren + Bailey // Lauren (aka Bay’s idol) picked up Bay for a coffee date to catch up before she left town.  Back when Bay was in Kindergarten, Lauren mentored Bailey during her first year of 4-H.  Lauren has made a point to keep in touch since.  She’s travel the United States while in office with the State FFA.  And now calls Oklahoma home as she studies at Oklahoma State University.  Shes a one-of-a-kind and we feel extra lucky to have met her ♥  I even found their ice cream date back in 2016: {friday 5}

{let’s kon marie}

KonMarie hit Nexflix last week.  And peeps are freaking the fuck out!  Ha!  I have seen some of THE best meme’s and they crack me up.  I’m going to hit Goodwill this weekend…I bet they’ll be stock full of good shit!

I’m all about organizing.  Simplifying.  Decluttering.  If you don’t use it or love it….toss it.  Or as Marie Kondo says “if it doesn’t spark joy” Haha…to be honest, not much sparks a shit ton of joy from me these days.

Anyway, I found this January Organization Calendar and I’ve been following it each day!  It makes hitting all the sections of the house more manageable.

I’ll be posting each day as I tackle the January Organization List!  Stay tuned.

Oh and you can click on the image to print a copy of your own!

Day 3 – Fridge //

Items used: Ceramic Egg Crate // SOMA Water Pitcher // Rubbermaid Food Storage 38 Piece Set with Easy Find Lids

Take out all the food.  Toss the expired or shit you don’t/won’t eat.  Wipe EVERYTHING down.  Even the shelves.

I cannot tell you how happy a clean fridge makes me.  TRUST me, you’ll feel the same way.  Then want to move onto the next thing.  Oh, and do the freezer too!

Hallelujah….kids are FINALLY back in school.  Insert happy dance!  Doesn’t if feel like they’ve been on break for an eternity?  Bay’s been sleeping till about 10 am each day, so to my surprise, I heard her alarm go off at 5:45 am.  And she actually got up…ha!  She set her alarm extra early so she could curl her hair.  Remember when she got the Conair Infiniti Pro Curl SecretBay can curl all her hair all on her own.  And I don’t have to worry about her burning herself or our house down.  Coolest curling tool for kids.

What I’m really here to talk about today is my Healthy-ish Chicken Salad recipe though.  Now that Bay’s back in school and we’re back to our regular routine, I’m ready to tackle the new year.  Even though it’s day #8 and not day #1.  Better late than never, right?

I meal prepped like a boss over the weekend.  Chicken Fajita Bowls.  Chili Lime Walnuts.  Washed + chopped all our veggies for the week.  Hard boiled eggs.  Made dressings + sauces.  And lastly, this Chicken Salad.

IMG_9167

My Mom tried it for lunch yesterday and gave it two thumbs up!  Whoop Whoop!

The walnuts give it the best texture and crunch.  I wouldn’t ever ruin a recipe by adding fruit, but I’m sure you fruit lovers out there would dig grapes in this?  Sounds disgusting to me though. HA!  I added a grainy Dijon mustard and some white vinegar.  I’m telling your, it’s really good.
