{j.crew factory sale + try-on}

Today was going to be all about what to wear to Thanksgiving.  Since the table is set, let’s pick out the next best thing.  The outfit!  Then I got a notification that J.Crew Factory was having a bad ass sale.  So we’re gonna go ahead a switch gears.  I mean, technically these could all be great options for “what to wear for Thanksgiving” anyway.  Let’s just go with it!

The real question…..

Are you shopping for yourself?  Or for Christmas gifts?

I like to say I’ve got my eye out for others, and sometimes I need to test out the quality of an item before I buy for gifts.  Quality control, right?  That’s what I’m telling myself…FML!

PLUS an extra 40% off clearance with code: FESTIVE

{thanksgiving table setting // DIY centerpiece}

img_3524

Hi friends!  If you follow me on instagram, then you know my heart is 100% Christmas.  Butttt, I am hosting my family for Thanksgiving.  What do you think they’ll say when they see I have a mixture of Christmas garland + wreaths + pumpkins?  Ha!  Most likely nothing.  Nothing at all.  They know how batshit crazy I am by now 🙂

img_3526

BIG thank you to everyone for voting on my instagram poll this morning.  This setting won.  Although, it was really close.

img_3519

I threw together this pumpkin centerpiece over the weekend.  The things I do for a table setting.  It will definitely be rotten by Thanksgiving.  But, I was dying to do a little DIY.  Whenever I’m creating with my hands, I’m the most happy.  Whether that means cooking.  Rearranging.  Planting.  Organizing.  It makes me really frickin happy.

img_3517

I found these Hearth & Hand Stoneware mini pedestals at Target and knew I’d find a way to incorporate them some how.  Tealights are in Spice jars – World Market.

Found them for cheap.  6 for $6.  Pop the top off and you’re good to go.  I love the shape.  The eucalyptus clipping was the finishing touch.

img_3520

I love adding a clipping to the back of these target chairs too!  The burlap ribbon, I leave it there year round.

img_3522

These plates have seen more food.  Ha!  They are my everyday dishes.  Super affordable, I’m talking $20 and come in a set of 12.  They make a great gift for the hostess with the most too!   Along with the gold flatware (it’s 20% off).  Although we don’t use it daily, I don’t hesitate to pull it out.  Dishwasher safe and they come out like new!

img_3525

I really wanted to keep this table simple.  Mainly because, I’m ready to set it for Christmas…lol.  I’ve got too many ideas.  It’s killing me to wait.

img_3523

Here’s a little video I took to give you a closer look!

{weekend notes // #last90days challenge}

I was listening to Rachel Hollis this morning.  You know the chick that wrote, Girl Go Wash Your Face?  She said something that got my attention.  I’ve actually been thinking about it all day.

Choose what you want most.  Not what you want right now!

It stuck!  What do I want the very most?  Damn.  That’s a good one.  It’s tough.  I want it all, really.  I can rattle off about 25 things I want right now.  But, one thing I want the very most?

Anyway, just those things that make you go hmmmm.

I’m also following her #last90days challenge.  Have you heard of it yet?  It’s been plastered ALL over social media, so chances are you’re very well aware.  Ha!  Let’s chat about it for a second anyway…..

What if you committed to living your last 90 days of this year as hard as you are committing to living the first 30 days of the new year? What if instead of a downhill slide into 2019, you are ramping up!

1234.png

Here’s how I’m tackling the challenge:

  1. Get up an hour early // I love to get up at the butt-crack of dawn and get my workout in.  To be honest, if it doesn’t happen before the sun comes up….then it aint happening.  I can tell myself all damn day that I’ll get it done after work.  #bullshit
  2. Workout for 30 minutes // First thing and then you don’t have to think about it!
  3. Drink your weight in oz of water // This is the hardest one for me.  I fill my yeti cup with lemon + water and try to re-fill it twice before lunch and one more time after.  Some days I straight up kill it.  Some days I straight up forget.
  4. Give something up // Sugar.  I gave up sugar again.  Added sugar.  It’s challenging.  But, I know it works for me.  I’ve done it many times and get the most + best results.
  5. Gratitude // So many ways to practice gratitude.  I’ve found the writing them down first thing when I wake up.  Before my coffee.  Before my feet hit the floor.  Before I have a chance to think about all the shitty things the day many entail.  This has been the best thing ever.  It really does shift your thoughts to being way more grateful.  Try it!

Are you doing the #last90days challenge?  Tell me how you’re doing it.  I love reading about this challenge and all the unique ways people are embracing it!

Intentions for the Week:

  • finalize Thanksgiving menu
  • get the house tidy AF
  • decorate Bay’s room for Christmas
  • work on two Thanksgiving outfits
  • pick up tree permits
  • make chicken soup
  • add extra blankets to our beds
  • set Thanksgiving table
  • shave my face…lol!  Have you heard of it?  I’m doing it!
  • pack for the coast

Highlights from the weekend:

Praying for California!

Leith dress // crazy flattering on any body style.  Comes in 8 color options and is only $44!!!  Get one.  Great layered or all alone.

Top Shop Leather Jacket // 40% off making it $55!  If you’ve been looking for a good classic leather jacket, this is it!  I LOVE mine.  Picked mine up last year on super sale too, and wear it more than I should admit!

Hunter Boots (in matte black) // $100!  This is a great gift!  I actually really like the matte better than my shiny black hunters.

Madewell Jeans // under $60 which is a steal.  If you’ve been wanting to try this brand of denim, now is the time.  They normally retail for over $100!

Vans // $38 and they are suede.  Love the color too.  Picked these up for Bay for Christmas…Shhhh!

Madewell glider bracelet // $20 and is one of my go-to girlfriend gifts.  Here it is on Madwell’s site too, since Nordy’s keeps selling out: Madewell Delicate Glider Bangle Bracelet

{friday 5}

Hi and Happy Friday!  Raise your hand if you’re as happy as I am for FRIDAY!  I have been so inspired lately, it’s the best feeling.  Only problem – not enough time in the day to make it all happen.  I went to TJ’s and grabbed all the goodies to work on a fun Thanksgiving DIY to share next week.  Although, my heart + mind are 100% on Christmas.  Since I’m hosting turkey day, I have to slow my roll….for a minute.  Would it be weird to eat turkey with a Christmas tree in the living room?  Ha!  Just kidding.  I’ll wait till the day after!  Weekend plans: sleep-in (if only till past 5am) watch my nephew play in his championship football game #gobenny!  Take our Christmas card picture (they’re normally already ordered by now…who am I) Check out the Pixie Traders Vintage Market…more on that below!  And dinner with friends.

Have a good one friends!

5 things on my mind……

img_3182

FRIDAY sweatshirt

ONE – FRIDAY // When you find your second favorite F-word on a sweatshirt.  You buy that fucker.  I went to J.Crew Factory earlier this week and it fell in my shopping bag.  So, I had to take it home.  It’s $30 today with code: 2DAYSONLY!  Grab one and let’s be Friday twins Ha!  I also found a shit-ton of other really cute tops + sweaters + vests too.  I’ll be sharing once I get them all linked up for you!

img_3183

TWO – Egg White Frittata // It’s easy.  It’s clean.  It’s delicious.  This was my go-to breakfast this week on my sugar cleanse.  It re-heats so well too.  Top with some hot sauce + avocado.  BOMB!  Serve over roast sweet potatoes…even bomb-er.  Try it over the weekend, okay?!?!

Egg White Frittata

  • Servings: 2
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

img_3184

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 3 mushrooms, sliced
  • handful fresh spinach
  • 1 cup egg beaters (or egg whites)
  • everything but the bagel seasoning
  • parmesan cheese
  • hot sauce

Here’s what you do:

Preheat oven to boil.

Spray your frying pan with non-stick spray.  Avocado oil is my jam right now, but any will do the trick.

Add mushrooms and cook for about 3 minutes, flip half way through.

Add spinach and cook till wilted.

Whisk egg beaters or whites till frothy and sprinkle with everything but the bagel seasoning.  Pour over veggies.  Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

Don’t touch the eggs.  Even though you want to.  Once they start to look set, gently run a spatula around the rim.

Transfer frying pan to oven and boil for 2-3 minutes.

Once eggs are puffed, they are DONE!

Remove and add more parmesan….you can NEVER have too much cheese 🙂

Cut frittata into 4 wedges.  Top with hot sauce.  Add some avocado if you’re feeling fancy.

Enjoy!

Garland Eucalyptus Pinecone

{all the things // target hearth + hand}

Today is going to be a fine day. I’ve been writing down 5 thing each morning that I’m grateful for.  Obviously health, home, food + water…always number one.

But what really put the extra pep in my step today…

Getting my hair done last night.  Blonde af + a fresh blunt cut can really make this girls day!!  Thanks Allison!

Pulling out all my Christmas tubs.  You should have seen the look on Cory’s face when I asked him to put up the outdoor light today.  He’s a man of many faces, but this one is my favorite.  It’s a mix of confusion and disgust.  And it straight up kills me.  He said not till after Thanksgiving.  I think we settled with, I promise not to plug them in till after Thanksgiving.  Fair….I think!

Hopping on the scale this morning and I’ve lost 4 lbs since Sunday!  #sugarcleanse shared all the details on the blog yesterday {on wednesdays we wear pink}

Bay kissing me goodbye at the middle school drop off line ♥

And last, but certainly not least – The holiday Hearth + Hand collection at Target. Thanks to everyone that voted….I went with the eucalyptus garland.

IMG_2032.jpg

And today I’m sharing ALL THE THINGS I fell in love with at good ol Target!

Just a warning – Target is very, very dangrous this time of year…lol!

I spent wayyy more time than I like to admit at Target lately.   Here’s a few things I’ve picked up so far.  And everything I’ve got my eye on!

Sweater $16 // Denim // Mules $18(similar)

Another day, another Old Navy sweater!  Old Navy is HOT right now.  Words I don’t think have ever left my mouth…HA!  But, for reals – you cannot beat those price tags + promo codes.  They have relevant styles and way better quality than I remember from the good ol days.

Before we get to that, I’m going to chat about my sugar cleanse for a minute.  If you DGAF….keep scrolling.  All my outfit details + top Old Navy picks are below.  I’ve been getting lots of questions, so let’s break it down real quick……

WHY

I’ve chatted before about why I cut sugar from my diet.  You can read about it here: {no sugar, no problem…sike} Basically, these jeans I’m wearing right here.  They are getting tight.  And I really like them, so I better get my shit together.  You know what I mean?  But, there are about 7 other reasons too.

HOW

I start each cleanse with a 2-day meal plan (below).  And the 3-day renew life cleanse.  Just trust me.  The combo does wonders and I feel so good within those first few days.  The 3-day cleanse you can find at Target and Nugget for $7.  I wrote about it more here: {friday 5}

Renew Life 3 day-cleanse

2.jpg

I legit yanked this out of a Women’s Health magazine at Oasis about 5 years ago.  Sorry Melika.  I keep it on the side of my fridge.

1.jpg

Breakfast – smoothie (I follow the recipe above) in my opinion, it’s the worst part of the 2-days

Snack #1 – cucumbers + vinegar + dill with a cup of green tea

Lunch – ground turkey + spinach + cilantro + green onions.  I top it with a shit-ton of hot sauce.

Snack #2 – should be asparagus.  I opted for carrots since the asparagus at the grocery store looked nasty.  With another mug of hot green tea.

Dinner – roast salmon + spinach + red onion + little olive oil + LOTS of lemon

In the evenings – you know, wine time + chill time?  I immediately brush my teeth.  Meaning kitchen is closed…NO MORE FOOD.  Ha!  Then follow-up with lot’s of green tea.  Especially the night your kid decided to try out a new chocolate chip cookie recipe.  Not gonna lie, I 100% snuck a bite of the dough.  #qualitycontrol

After the 2-day thing is over.  I stick to a strict no added sugar diet.  I don’t do fruit, because I don’t care for it.  I will use some brown rice here and there.  Sweet potatoes.  Homemade nut butters.  NO wine.  No beer.  No TJ’s dark chocolate covered almonds.  The struggle is real.  A clean diet.  Lots of protein + veggies.  With a few Skinny, Skinny Margs on the weekends.

HOW LONG

I was originally thinking till the end of the week.  But, who knows.  Maybe till Thanksgiving?

Now let’s get back to this outfit 🙂

{turkey + butternut squash enchiladas}

img_2352

It’s Tuesday.  And you know what that means….Taco time.  Today we’re staying with the theme, kinda.  Switching it up a little with enchiladas.

But, not just any ol enchiladas.  These are packed with ground turkey.  (Or leave out the turkey and make it a meatless meal) Butternut squash.  Black beans.  Diced tomatoes.  Slowly simmered with all the spices.  It’s like a big hug.  You know.  Comfort food.  Then filled with shredded cheddar cheese and rolled in the one, the only, Micaela’s California Fresh flour tortillas.

They are back friends!  And as of yesterday, back on the shelves at the grocery stores!  Hallelujah.  A BIG thanks to the Santoni Family for bringing back a recipe + brand we all grew up loving here in Woodland.

img_2354

Last week I came home to a package sitting on my front porch.  Let me tell you, it was a straight up day maker!

Better than a J.Crew package!  Ha!  It’s not everyday you get food delivered to your house.   My DM’s blew up asking for all the details.  And since they are available to everyone, today seemed fitting to share a recipe using your tortillas.

So we have a tradition with GG.  We go to church.  Normally 5 o’clock Saturday mass.  Then to our house for dinner.  I always try to make something a little different.  You know, not your average every night dinner.  GG digs trying my new creations.  And since my Micaela’s delivery came just in time.  I made enchiladas.  You gotta love + support your family!

This was my 93-year-old grandma’s response:

img_2353

And she’s not always easy to please.  So well done Brooke + Charley!  GG approves!

{weekend notes}

Hello Monday. May your coffee be strong and your week short! I woke up and immediately practiced gratitude this morning. I wrote down the first 5 things that came to mind that I’m truly grateful for. Instead of thinking about all the things I wasn’t looking forward to. It really works. Try it! We had another relaxing weekend. Friends + family + good food + good wine! Lots of laughs. We even snuck in a date night.

Intentions for the Week:

* VOTE!!

* Get my hair done…cannot fucking wait

* Go to be early. The more zzz’s the more better

* Pull out the Christmas tubs

* Plan our Thanksgiving menu

* Hit 15k steps per day

* Stay off the sugar. Goodbye chardonnay 😭

* Share all the things Target

* Not get sick

Highlights from the weekend…..

Doesn’t everyone show up to their homegirls house looking homeless AF? Budweiser sweatshirt + slippers for my Friday night #ootd

These two fell asleep and Tiger Raptor messed with them the whole time.

When Bubba shows up in his new G-ride. When’s the last time you saw a Miata?

Oops….I found Bays stash 🍫

Breakfast for lunch

Meal preppin. Going sugar free AGAIN. Pray for me k? Turkey + lots of spices + spinach + onion. Clean AF!

img_2046

But first, we’re having enchiladas. Look at that filling though. Sharing this one mañana.

img_2047

Another day, another tall boy. This time my fave BLL. Now you see why the sugar cleanse is happening? Lol.

img_2051

Date Night. I seriously made reservations for the restaurant that I’ve been dying to try. Put on my new dress. Told him to pick me up at 6. And it worked.

We stopped at The Barn in West Sac. It just officially opened over the weekend.

img_2090

Such a cool spot. As you can see, it looks really cool too.

img_2073

Situated on the Sac River. In a big open area off to the side of Raley Field.

Family friendly. Dog friendly.

Pizza oven and food trucks. You can totally bring your own snacks to. Which is really cool. Bring a picnic blanket or they have lawn chairs you can use. The really did think of it all.

Outdoor seating. Live music. Fire pits. Lawn games.

img_2082

Beer! Lots of beer. I believe they said 50 on tap.

img_2059

This was a ring on a string. You release it and aim for a little hook on the pole. This kid was really good. Cory picked his brain for a bit, but still failed to make one.

img_2069-3

They also serve wine and cocktails. We stuck with beer.

img_2071

Pretty views too. You can see Raley field and the Bridge.

img_2066

When you have a couple beers and find the perfect selfie mirror. You don’t give AF about the girl trying to wash her hands in the back or the fact the public restroom is a complete mess. Lol. Anything for the gram! Linking everything you see here below.
