Happy Halloween!  It’s been a full month of all things orange + black + spooky!  We’ve baked.  We’ve decorated (twice).  Pumpkins are carved.  Pumpkin seeds roasted…(my mom’s best batch yet)  Bay DIY’d her costume.

The only thing left…Trick-Or-Treating!

Which is probably my least favorite part of the Holiday..lol!  The kids favorite, the adults…not so much.

img_1908

But, I realized today – this could possibly be that last time my girl dresses up for Halloween.  I was honestly unsure she was even going to be up for it this year.  I think the whole DIY costume really got her in the spirit.  Or the bribes?  HA!

Either way, we are going to Trick-Or-Treat our asses off tonight.  In the dark.  In the cold.  With strangers giving our kids candy.

I will have a wine in hand, though so I can’t complain too much.

Here’s to our kids ending up with shit-tons of Reese’s!  CHEERS!!!

{old navy try-on}

Over the weekend, Bay and I hit up Old Navy!  It was actually my second trip within the week. You guys, they’ve got some cute shit right now.  Those price tags are legit too. I found some great J.Crew + Abercrombie dupes (look-a-likes for a fraction of the price)

Old Navy is a great place for simple basics. Cardigans. Tees. Sweaters. Especially today – everything, even clearance, is marked down 30%. No code needed 🙌🏻

I’m totally loving their buy online store pick-up. Does that even make sense? Truth – Old Navy online prices are always, without a doubt, better than in-store. So you buy all your shit online, select the store. Then pick it up. Ordered are ready within the hour and are held for up to 7 days. I’ll chat more about it at the end of true post too.

Bay came along and I taught her ALL THE THINGS dressing room try-on. You gotta start then young, right lol.

And I almost died when I realized Bay is now in women’s sizes.  What the hell? All the girls styles looked so toddler-ish. So, we grabbed some x-smalls and to my surprise….they FIT!

We even grabbed a cardigan that we can share. Talk about eye-opening. My girl is almost as tall as me too.

Anyway, we snapped some pics of the things we picked up. Some things we passed on this time, but still really liked. And a few items have been added to the good ol Christmas List.

Here are some of our faves!

Slim-Fit Curved-Hem Thermal-Knit Tee for Women

We both agreed this was our favorite tee. Super soft and I always love a curved-hem. Looks great front tucked or untucked.  ONLY $9!  I’d recommend grabbing a couple of colors!

img_1836

Ruffled-Shoulder Lace-Trim Shirt

Reminds me of the J.Crew Ruffle-neck eyelet top except this one is only $23!  And I actually prefer the sleeves on this Old Navy top better than the expensive one.

img_1834

Relaxed Classic Soft-Brushed Twill Shirt (white plaid)

If you ask me, there is NO such thing as too many plaid shirts.  They come in so many color + print options, I say the more the merrier!  This one is a little longer, making it perfect for a front knot (without showing your belly) and front tuck.

img_1835

Bay Slim-Fit Rib-Knit Mock-Neck Tee //  Me Ruffle-Trim Clip-Dot Top

LOVE this mock turtleneck on Bay.  She said it’s for old ladies though.  WTF?  Ha!  Old lady or not, I dig the color combo.  My top is so much better in person.  Super flattering.  And ONLY $23!

Well, it’s a day late!  It’s been such a busy (work-wise) few weeks, that by the time I get home – I’m dead!  Which has left me little to NO time for this space.  I’m trying though!  Be patient with me, I’ll be back in the swing of things next week!

  • Practice gratitude, it makes such a difference
  • Prune bushes and clean up the front patio #hotmess

  • Share mine + Bay’s Old Navy Try-On

{friday 5}

It’s Friday (hu-frickin-ray)!  Honestly, it’s really hard to believe October is coming to an end next week.  I feel like I cannot keep up with this year?  Anyone else?  I’ve got the Holidays on my mind BIG TIME.  I’ve started shopping too.  Which is one of my Holiday goals.  And after the Serendipity Boutique + bella moda boutique Christmas Preview last night, my wheels are spinning.

Weekend plans: My to-do list is staring me down.  It’s been growing longer each day this week.  I’ve been so swamped with work, I hardly have time to check my email or order my groceries.  I’ve been on survival mode…lol.  Tonight Bay and I are having a date night.  Mani’s + pizza + watching La La Land (she hasn’t seen it yet).  I can’t wait to sleep in.  Spend some time with friends.  Possibly get wine tips with Alex.  Maybe church?  God knows I need a little church in my life.

Before I let you get your weekend started, let me quickly chat about 5 things on my mind…..

ONETurkey On The Table //  Kinda like Elf on the Damn Shelf, but for Thanksgiving.  Except, it’s not a pain in the ass at all.  And you don’t have to move it daily.  So, basically it’s nothing like Elf on The Damn Shelf…lol.  It’s more of a lesson on being grateful.  I’m all about gratitude.  I actually started practicing it daily, thanks for #last90days challenge.  Here’s how it works…for every day in November, write down something you are thankful for on the paper feather.  Each family member can take turns or everyone can write on the same one.  It’s totally up to you.  Place it somewhere that you’ll see it.  On Thanksgiving day, you’ll have a “fully dressed” turkey to display.  You can then read all the thankful feathers aloud.  It’s such a cute idea.  And the best part, for each Turkey on The Table purchased, 10 meals will be provided to someone in need through Feeding America.

TWO – Currently Reading // I had to ditch my last audio book.  So many great reviews, but the voice-over was absolutely terrible.  If you’re an audio book listener, then you get it.  Picked up Reese Witherspoons new Whiskey in a Teacup : What Growing Up in the South Taught Me About Life, Love, and Baking BiscuitsBest part, she’s actually the reader of her own book.  Which I don’t think I’ve ever seen before?  Anyway, it’s so cute and lighthearted…I’m really diggin it.  I also grabbed Chrissy Teigen’s newest cookbook Cravings: Hungry for More And she nailed it.  Everything looks so good.  I can’t wait to dive into it more this weekend and dog ear some pages to add to my “must make list!”  What are you reading?  Anything good I should add to my list next?

Sweater // Denim // Booties (similar) // Bangle Bracelet //  Leather Tote

Grainy or not, this is all I got. I thought about retaking photos, but who’s got time for that.

This, my friends, is my current uniform. Grey sweater. White denim. Always wear white after Labor Day because rules were made to be broken. Leather tote. Free peeps booties. Sunnies and I’m out the door.

Bay gets the photo cred for this one. She took it and told me I should “for sure” use it on my blog post. I typically do a quick selfie before I walk out the door. But I like a change every once in a while.

{10 minute salsa}

I have a killer salsa recipe. And since it’s Tuesday, kinda seems like the perfect time to re-share this classic. It’s super easy. You’ll likely have most of the ingredients on hand already. And 10 minutes…that’s pushing it. I’d say, 5 minutes and you’re ready to top your Tuesday tacos.

This recipe was one of my first blog posts. Almost 3 years ago. Three fucking years. I can’t believe I’ve been sharing random shit since about this time of year, back in 2015. Check it out: hey good lookin whatcha got cooking}

I love looking back at old posts. Really, not much has changed. I mean, they have, but not a ton. My photos have for sure gotten better with practice. Still exclusively use my iPhone 8 Plus. Of course, there are now annoying ass adds. And the look has changed a bit. Other than that, still the same ol girl that’s likes to throw back some wine, cuss a little or a lot, and loves to cook and buy cute clothes.

Anyway, I’m sharing this gem again today, because it’s almost impossible to find on my site.

And it’s wayyy to good to keep it hidden.

It was also brought to my attention how hard it is to search recipes. So I promise I’ll be sharing some shortcuts this week too.

{weekend notes}

Good day. Ha. Can’t say good morning. Monday rolled around real, real quick! Our weekend was full of family + friends + straight up kickin it. I still wasn’t ready for today though. The answer – coffee, lots of coffee. Followed by wine, lots of wine. That’s just how I roll these days. So this photo above kinda represents life these days pretty well. Throw your hands up and enjoy the wild ride.

Intentions for the Week:

  • Hit my step goal every.damn.day
  • And my water goal #hellaounces
  • Listen to my damn audio book, not sure I dig it yet
  • Bays first sports banquet 🏐
  • Make my Hawaiian chicken
  • Visit Serendipity + bella moda Christmas Preview…the most wonderful time of the year 🎄
  • Talk about my favorite new J.Crew sweater
  • And 10 things I’m diggin
  • Maybe, just maybe get my Portland Travelogue up?
  • Share a good ol healthy chili recipe

Highlights from the weekend…..

Beer me

Friday night at Blue Note. We need to make this a habit again.

How we feel about Taqueria Guadalajara nacho Friday 👍🏻

So, I didn’t win the Lotto Friday night, but I did walk around the corner at dollar tree to find my nephew, Benny with these stunna shades on. So it’s kinda the same thing, right?

Facebook memories that stop you in your tracks.

Watching our #4. Bay even made a sign, which Benny was pretty pumped about.

Orchard dinner set-up. It was all Anna, we just helped. She has a vision like no other and it came out better than I imagined.

To the pumpkin patch. Via jeeps, side-by-sides and pickups taking the back roads. Crossing a ditch and this was the view 🇺🇸

But first, solo cup roadies

And they’re off…..

The cow train

Bay + Spencer!

Hands up in the air, wave um like you just don’t care 🙌🏻

(Photo cred: Alex)

Pumpkin patch kids + Jessie ❤️

Bays shuttle service. She had more fun giving rides than anything lol.

Fri-YAY! Hallelujah! It’s been a week. Sorry for the lack of posting here. I had the best intentions, but just couldn’t make it happen. No Friday 5 today. I couldn’t think of 5 things if you paid me. So let’s switch it up…..Since I did promise these pumpkin donut holes.

And tomorrow is Saturday, which would be the perfect time to whip up a batch of these bad boys.

Also, FYI – Anthropologie is having a good sale. So, I linked some fun + really pretty coffee mugs at the end of this post. Scroll down and check it out. I’ve also linked them in my Instagram bio for easy access.

Crazy easy recipe. Baked, not fried. Pumpkiny….tis the season, right?

You do need a mini muffin pan. I picked one up at Walmart for $6.

img_0976

WARNING: they are so dangerous, so make sure you make them when your peeps are awake. I made the mistake of making a batch last weekend. When I was alone. BAD idea.

Remember you can pin it. Print it. Tag me. Message me. I love to hear what you think ❤️
