IMG_2121

I got so many questions over the summer about Bay’s birthday kayak, that I thought I’d just write it all out and tell you all at once.

Let me start with – The Lifetime Youth Wave Kayak is pretty frickin cool.

Bay’s been kayaking for the last 4 summers.  She enjoyed it, a little.

Then Bay’s Dad bought her one (I mean two) of these kayaks for her 11th birthday.  We hit Lake Tahoe the next weekend.  They were a huge HIT!

Due to the compact size, they are super easy to maneuver.  Unlike the adult kayaks we’ve used + rented in the past.

Extremely safe.  The sunken in “cockpit” as they call it, keeps them tucked in.  Even when the BIG Lake Tahoe waves come in.

They are small + lightweight enough for kids to haul to and from the beach.  Now that is a HUGE plus.

Durable + stable enough for a game of bumper cars.

The design is simple!!

Oh, and they stack, almost nesting like for storage.  Can I get a hell yeah?!?!

Best part of all…..

These things keep kids busy for hours.  I shit you not, these girls spent 90% of the beach time cruising in the kayaks.  More time for mama to sunbath and enjoy a beer or two without, “Mom, I’m bored”

Hours people.  Hours!!!

Bay is going to create so many memories on these kayaks.  I can’t say enough about them!

I kinda want to get my own so I can cruise the Lake with her 🙂

Hello, and happy Friiiiidaaaayyyyy friends!!

Today, I’ve got 6 things on my mind…..

ONE – Weekend Notes // I never got around to my Weekend Notes post this week.  But, I have to share, because last weekend was a good one!

We spent time with our favorites in Salinas.

2 days at Chamisal is good for the soul!!

I got tan lines.  Watched the kids swim for hours.  Cheers boomeragned our beverages with Nicole + Lina.  Made plans for our next adventure.

Peter Pan in Carmel ♥

The Outdoor Forest Theater has got to be the most beautiful theater ever.

The whole gang!!

IMG_1973.JPG

I would tell you all about it, except in true Stacy fashion….

I fell asleep though about 75% of the play.

BUTTT, the parts I did see (the end) was fantastic!!!

IMG_1976IMG_1992

We also met the new member of the Hostert family, Lulu the rescue dog 🙂  She the sweetest.  Until I tried to pick her up.  I don’t have the dog touch!!

El Charrito breakfast burritos!!  It’s a must every.single.time we wake up in Salinas.  And Nicole has the most amazing friends ever.  The last 4 times I’ve visited, her peeps delivered El Charrito to us.  I tell you, Salinas people are so damn sweet!!!  I also got a package of tortillas and Oh My God!  I’ve been hooking Bay up with quesadillas all week!  She said they are fantastic. I even got crazy and made her the jack-o-lantern quesadilla #holidaywhore (if you follow in insta stories, you saw it)

I’m a true El Charrito lover por vida!!!

Thank you Hostert’s + Odello’s for a FUN weekend ♥

We made it home Sunday evening just in time to catch another play.

Honk at the Woodland Opera House.  #socute

We love watching our friends/family do their thing on the big stage!!

TWO – My Girl //  It was her 11 year check up this week.

IMG_2115.JPG

11 years old.

5’2″.

85 lbs.

She grew 4 inches in just 1 year!!  She’s predicted to be around 5’9 – 5’10.  CRAZY.

Bay was also due for 4 shots.  Tdap (I think that’s what it’s called).  Flu shot.  Some other one I can’t remember.  And HPV shot.   Last year I had to latterly restrain my kid.  I layed on top of her while she was laying on the doc office bed.  It was a sight to see.  She fought the entire time.  Fast forward to Thursday.  She sat there.  Got her shots.  Shed a couple little tears.  So we obvi went to Starbucks afterwards.

The doc handed Bay a sheet of paper explaining the shots she had gotten.  She got to the HPV and wanted an explanation.  I did my best.  I’m brutally honest with her.  At 11 years old, I’m not sure kids are ready for that explanation.  What are your thoughts?  Don’t get me wrong, I’m 100% on board with the vaccine!!

Anyway, just crazy proud of my girl!  She was so brave ♥

THREE – Jicama Sticks //  The veggie of the week.  Remember my {Fall To-Do’s}?  Try a new veggie each week?  Jicama sticks are week #1.  Before we talk jicama, lets clarify the spelling/pronunciation.  It’s spelled with a “j”, but sounds like it should be a “h”.  You read jicama, and say HICK-ah-muh.  You just ask the dude at TJ’s and he’ll know what you’re talking about.  Okay, on to jicama….

IMG_2150

I don’t like it.  I actually think it tastes like a cross between an apple + dirt.  The texture – crispy apple.  The taste – dirt.  Anyone else agree with me?

{mozzarella stuffed meatballs}

When you say comfort food, I think pasta!  Always.

With Fall in the air, I’ve got pasta on the brain.  Big time!

I tried out a new recipe and it was such a hit.  Mozzarella Stuffed Meatballs.

IMG_2104

Also, I’ve never, until now, ever made meatballs.

Now I want to throw them into the weekly rotation, like every week!  I feel like I need to make up for lost time.

But, you know I can’t just make the classic meatballs.  I always have to jazz things up a bit.

Cheeeeessseee.  It’s always a good idea, right?  The more the better!

HAVE YOU EVER TRIED THESE MOZZARELLA BALLS?  OMG!  Pure heaven!  If you’re anything like me, then you could kill this whole tub too!!

IMG_2102

The ooey gooey melted cheese center is an unexpected surprise.

I interrupt your regular scheduled programming to bring you this VERY public service announcement……
Shopbop is having a sale.
And I’m currently accepting applications for a sugar daddy so I can scoop up some of these great sales 🙂  Only till Friday night though.  Then the sale is over.  And your services will no longer be needed.
Ha!
I’ve told you before, and I’ll tell you again.  You need these Levis.
They are the “IT” jean.  GAP True Skinny are a close second.  I don’t know how to explain it, but they almost give you a nice little butt lift.  Sounds crazy, but you gotta try them on to understand.  You can even grab a pair for $70!!!  Do it.
I even wrote a post about it!!
Remember my shades from {friday 5}, yep, they are on sale too!!!

It’s no secret that Fall is one of my favorite times of the year.  As sad as it is to say goodbye to those long summer days, I’m literally craving the cooler temps + pumpkin everything + cozy sweaters!!!

Especially the month of September!!  It’s like summer’s last hoorah!

And I plan to enjoy it to the fullest!!!  Since the seasons come and go so quickly, I like to make a list of the things that make me love this time of year so much.

F R I D A Y

The first day of Fall!

And oh my gosh, THE WEATHER!  It feels like Fall and I’m loving it.  Who else is with me in welcoming this change of season?

It’s Friday, and I’ve got 5 things on my mind……

ONE – Shady AF //  This one’s for you Lina!  I’ve been asked over and over by so many peeps to share my shade details.  I just got these a few weeks ago and I’m totally diggin them.  Matte black.  Polarized.  Great price tag.  I scored mine during the Shop Bop sale for $50.

And let’s take a sec to talk about Bay’s shades.  Until last month, I had NO idea Ray Bans came in Jr sizes.  Bay really really wanted a pair for her birthday.  She keeps them in the car and pops them on as soon as she buckles up.  It kills me.  She looks so teenager with them on.

TWO – Wi-Fi Printable // This was on my Intentions for the week.  Check!  I want peeps to feel at home when they walk though the door at our house.  And what feels more at home than your Wi-Fi connecting?  I just recently figured out how to change the name on our Wi-Fi.  Ha!  It was some weird combo of numbers and letters and I had a hard time figuring out which one was ours.  Picking a name was kind of a big deal.  Especially when you recruit the help of an 11-year-old.  Here’s what we came up with:

HeyBayBay1

HeyBayBay2

Since when do you need two?  They explained all the technical shit to me and it went right over my head.  But we have Wi-Fi, so it’s all good.

Anyway, I printed out this cute FREE printable and put our password on it for all our guests.

Come over and get cozy AF!  Use our Wi-Fi!

{lemon chicken}

IMG_1904.jpg

We all know Barefoot Contessa from the Food Network.  I used to watch her cooking shows with a pen + paper in hand, writing down the recipe/tips as she cooked on TV.  Without a DVR.  You miss an ingredient or step, you’re screwed!  There was no rewind.  No pause button if you needed to refill your wine glass.  I can hardly believe that’s how I had to get my recipes?  Clearly before internet + google.  Or at least, before I knew how to google that shit.  Definitely before Pinterest.

This recipe, if I remember correctly, was one of Jeffrey’s favorite.  Jeffrey is her husband for all you non Food Network peeps.  I recall her making this recipe and thinking…..

Damn, someday when I grow up, I’m going to make this for a dinner party.  And set my table pretty.  And drink wine.

The very day I got my new dinning room table, guess what I did?

I had a dinner party.  Well, kinda.  It was Grandparents Day, so I invited my parents + GG over for dinner with Bay + I to celebrate.  Let’s call it a dinner party!!!

I set my new table real pretty.  And we drank wine.  That’s a dinner party in my book!

Ps…Grandparents Day is a real thing.  Swear.  I even googled it to prove it to you 🙂

National Grandparents Day

I’m totally not a fan of raw meat/chicken images on social media.  It looks nasty and salmonella-y.

But, is it just me, or do those raw chicken breasts pictured below look pretty bomb?!?!

IMG_1900

This recipe is SO easy.  SO delicious.  I promise you’re guests or family will enjoy it!  We ate the leftovers all week-long, without a single complaint.

{twinning, again}

IMG_1876

It’s not every day this mother daughter duo find a denim top they LOVE!  But when we do, you best believe we are going to tell you all about it.

You guys, she’s still totally into taking selfie with me.  I really gotta enjoy this while it lasts.  I know one day, sooner than later, she’s going to look at me like I’m crazy when I tell her “let’s take a selfie!”  That day is going to be devastating.  I’ll have to recruit Link, the rabbit, I guess?!?!

{weekend notes}

FullSizeRender (23).jpg

Weekend notes a day late.  Only for my Mama!  Hope you all had a good one.  Between Napa + volunteering + cooking + wine-ing…it was a nice weekend!  I woke up Monday morning ready to conquer the week.  Don’t you love it when that happens?

Intentions for the week:

  • Stay sugar-free (ish)killed it during the week/failed on the weekend
  • Drink 75 oz. of water a day aka 3 Yeti cups + a little more
  • Organize my closet (it’s on here AGAIN, I know)
  • Work out 5-days this weekAnd I actually enjoyed it!!!
  • Send back returns
  • Hang shit on the walls (not shit, but art/decor) Almost done!
  • Challenge myself to not place ANY on-line orders (last week was redic) – FAILED miserably.  In my defense, J.Crew was having a good sale and I had Nordstom bucks burning a hole in my pocket.
  • Change passwords/update names for wifi + make a cute sign
  • Make smoked paprika roasted chickpeasmade another batch for this week…so good!
  • Get blonde again
  • Chill out on the BRAVO channel – Can’t stop, won’t stop

I’m getting the hang of this crossing shit off!  Take a peek weeks Intentions {weekend notes}

And here are some highlights….

Martini night kicked my ass Saturday.  But, I’ll do it all over again when Alex calls and invites me over for ”A” drink next time.

IMG_1550

Especially when you’re 6:30 am alarm goes off to do a Kaia workout with Melika.  I didn’t die.  Almost though.

FullSizeRender (15)

I did wipe out the whole hour of exercising afterwards.  Believe it or not, I was an El Patio breakfast burrito virgin.  Until now!  I’ve been missing out…BIG time.

I also drank a soda the size of my face.  Probably haven’t had a soda since 2006.

IMG_1555

A quick trip to Napa!

Dinner at Boon Fly Cafe made my dreams of staying at the Carneros Resort even bigger.  The grounds are to die for.  The price tag….Not so much.

The fried chicken, that they are known for….legit!

And then I found this cute swing

If you follow me on Instagram Stories, then you are well aware of how I spent Sunday.

Meal preppin!

Pioneer Women Restaurant Salsa.  I always have a mason jar full of this in my fridge.  It’s my favorite, easiest, homemade salsa.  It goes on eggs + salads + chicken, you name it.

IMG_1573

Chicken Burrito Bowls

Blueberry Coffee Cake

Whipped Ricotta + Feta Dip

3-bean salad

(I’ll share this one later this week.  It’s a good one!)

IMG_1575

I even prepped everything for Monday nights dinner:

Steak Roll-Ups

Mocha Almond Fudge Ice Cream Pie

New York Times No-Knead Bread

Omega Nu sisters volunteer for the CASA event!

IMG_1583

After our Friday night meeting, I was so inspired by the CASA organization.  I thought I knew what they were all about.  I had no idea what an impact they really make on kids in our community.  And now I understand why guests at the event are also so supportive of the CASA organization.  The speeches.  Watching the paddles fly up in the air.  We lost count at $150,000 during the live auction.  Speechless!

Oh and Park Winters isn’t too shabby either…….

That pool though.  I’m thinking we need a pool day soon!

Take a peek at the menu.

IMG_1595

The food.  Equally amazing.  Look at the halibut ♥
