{friday 5}

Happy Friday!!  Is it just me, or did this week fly by?  I’m not by any means complaining!!  It’s Friday, my fave day of the week and I’m ready for the weekend.  One of my homies (friends since 2nd grade) is coming to Woodlone today and I’m pumped to kick it with her.

ONE – Remember yesterday on my {fall to-do’s}

  • Make 3 outfits that are out of my comfort zone?

I’d say I’ve achieved one of the three!  No, it’s not a onesie. It’s a bodysuit.  Yes, I bought a bodysuit.  Totally out of my comfort zone, but guess what???  It’s so fucking cute.  Scroll down and check out the back of the top.  It’s the most flattering cutout and allows you to still wear a bra without the straps showing.

It’s marked down to $18 today!  And it comes in a wine red color too.  I’ve already wore it once and might pop it on tonight too.  Looks perf with denim and how about a skirt?  shorts?  (I mean it is still like 90 degrees in California)

American Eagle is on fire right now.  So much cute shit.  Check out all the other bodysuit options they offer….OMG!  The long-sleeved lace has my name all over it!!

This isn’t even half of them.  Click here to view them ALL!

TWO – Jack-O-Lantern Stuffed Bell Pepper // I had too.  I had leftover turkey + chicken sausage meat sauce + orange bell peppers sitting in the fridge, so what else would one do?  Busted out the Martha Stewart x-acto knife and started carving away.

Once I had my jack-o-lantern all carved out, I layered:

  • meat sauce
  • chopped baby spinach leaves
  • pesto
  • fresh mozzarella cheese (not the bagged shit)
  • repeat

Baked in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.  So easy and so festive.  Bailey isn’t a fan of bell peppers?!?!  Crazy, I know!  She dumped the filling out on her plate and ate it without the jack-o-lantern.  I scarfed the whole damn thing in about 2.5 minutes flat.

Speaking of Jack-O-Lanterns….

#idim (I did it myself) how cute is that.  Gotta remember that one.

{fall to-do’s}

If you’re a BIG fan of fall as I am, then chances are you also have a whole slew of seasonal to-do’s to tackle.  Winter Solstice (aka shortest day of the year/beginning of winter) is December 21st!  So I’ve got shit to do.  Today I’m sharing my goals and bucket list for Fall.

{butternut squash + sausage lasagna}

Butternut squash layered with chicken sausage and fresh mozzarella.  This is what I call fall comfort food.  When I type that, I can honestly picture it and smell the goodness.

Best part….it’s noodle-less.  Swap the pasta peeps!  You won’t even miss all the carbs, promise!  Or you can do as I did, save those carbs for a slice of rosemary sourdough bread…haha.  It’s called balance.

My girl Gina over at Skinny Taste posted this recipe last week.  As soon as my eyes read the title, I knew it was going down in my kitchen ASAP!  Sure enough, Sunday I made it happen.

GG gave it a thumbs up.  You guys, my GG is picky!  In a good way.  She’s also in her 90’s and she clearly just knows what she likes.  She will straight up tell you….”did you even salt this” or “it was okay” or “remember when you used to make….”  For reals!  Love ya GG!  Guess what?  GG asked to take some leftovers for her lunch the next day.

We’ve even decided to make it a monthly tradition.  Saturday mass then they will “taste test” a new recipe for the blog.  Haha.  I love it.  Nothing makes me more happy than sitting across the table from these ladies.  Laughing, enjoying good food + drink, telling stories.  Bailey’s clarinet band concert.  Followed by myself trying to play too.  It was all bad.

Making this noodle-less recipe for the first time, I’ll admit, I was a tad bit nervous.  Then you pull out the ingredients and remind yourself, you really can’t go wrong with sauce + fresh mozzarella cheese + sausage.  With that combo, you can make anything delish.

Here’s what you’ll need:

{weekend notes}

We had the best weekend!  Relaxed.  Spent time with family.  Made delicious food.  Stayed in bed till 9 am Saturday (#amazing).  Went to mass (#itsbeenalongtime).  Cleared the DVR.  Drank with my girls (#justalittletoomuch).    My house is clean and I meal prepped too.  Does it get any better than that?  Nope!  Monday, I’m ready for ya!

Friday night we stayed in with friends and indulged in my very favorite.  Pizza + wine!!  It’s seriously the best combo.

{friday 5}

Is anyone else as excited as I am for the freakin’ weekend?  Yes?  Yeah, I thought so!!  You guys, I have NOTHING that I have to or need to do tomorrow.  Say whaaattt?  Sofa king excited to kick it and do whatever the f I want.  Should I lay out?  Maybe cook something bomb?  Shop?  Watch TV all day?  Who knows, but I already know it’s going to be a killer day!!

It’s Friday and you all know that I’ve got 5 things on my mind…..

ONE – This was an out-take that I almost deleted.  Then I looked again and kept it.  This week I did some major reflecting.

I was going to “fire” my life coach this week.  Not because I don’t think she’s the absolute shit. (She is THE shit)  But, because I thought I was good-to-go and didn’t need to meet on a weekly basis anymore.  WRONG!  I had a complete meltdown.  She asked one simple question that put me in a total tailspin.  Her response “You don’t have to be on-point all the time.”  Followed with  “You’re so hard on yourself.”

Life is hard, but so am I!  I’m happier than I’ve been in a long long time.  I’m working on becoming the very best version of me, but this shit is a process and it’s going to take some time.

Needless to say, I scheduled an appointment next week!  LOL!

That very same day, I saw this on Instagram…and it hit me hard!!

You’re so hard on yourself.

Take a moment.

Sit back.

Marvel at your life,

at the grief that softened you,

at the heartache that wisened you,

at the suffering that strengthened you.

You still grow.

Be proud of this.

WOW, that was kinda deep for a Friday 5.

TWO –  Kaia sisters – You are pretty fucking awesome.  Keep that shit up!  Hell week is OVER and we all survived!  Yeahhhh!  The workouts were extra challenging and I saw so many ladies kick ass!  It was beyond motivating!!  I was never able to make it back to Kaia for a double day, but I did do a couple doubles at home + Oasis in the evenings on my own.  I’m tired.  My muscles are sore.  Next week is detox week.  I’m feeling super unmotivated.  I know the key to next week is going to be “keep it simple” as Melika would say.

Smoothie + soup + salad.

2 weeks of BRIK left.  We got this!!!  Knuckles!
