{starbucks rewards}

Are you a coffee fanatic like myself?  Starbucks or Dutch?  I’m a loyal Starbucks girl.  The app is amazeballs.  I order my coffee then run in and out in a matter of minutes.  You can’t beat that for morning coffee shop lines.  They can be unreal.

I’m also a gold cardholder since 2008.  Told you I drink a shit ton of coffee.  I actually didn’t drink coffee, like at ALL.  Then in 2006 I had a baby and that shit changed real quick.  I realized mom’s NEED coffee.  It’s kind of a deal breaker.  No coffee No talk.  Once I get that warm cup of joe in my hands, I’m instantly a different person…lol.  True story.

{what i wore}

My J.Crew Factory package arrived last week.  These are the items I categorized as summer staples.  Remember how stressed I was about the KonMari Method….well, I did what any practical girl would do.  Went shopping.  Nothing a little retail therapy can’t help, right?  I’m pretty sure this is 100% against Kondo rules, but F it!  It made me feel better about the situation.

This girl of mine has decided that she LOVES to cook.  Loves to bake.  Anything in the kitchen.  I can relate, I too love being in the kitchen.  So, I get it.  A few weeks ago, while I was in Seattle, Bailey went to Idol Night with my mom and her girlfriends.  They meet up once a week, cook dinner, and watch American Idol together.  I think it’s so rad that they have kept this tradition for so many years.  Well, Bailey got to tag along the night Kelly Morgan (mom’s homegirl) was cooking.  She made her specialty – Pad Thai.  Kelly was sweet and let Bailey help her prepare dinner.  Ever since, Bailey has talked non-stop about how she can make Pad Thai.  So, that’s what she did.  Monday nights are our standing Date Night.  We do all sorts of things….Ice cream, movies, park, shopping, facials, bike ride…etc.  You can read more about it here at {dating my daughter}.

We had a great time chatting and hanging out in the kitchen together ♥

So I did it.  I got all Kondo on my closet.  It feels great.  I feel great.  I feel fucking happy too.  Marie Kondo is genius.

image.jpeg

Get the damn book.  Or Audio version.  It’s a quick easy read.  I felt so inspired after reading about the closet transformations.  The basic concept it to ONLY surround yourself with things that truly spark joy.  I’m probably not going to thank my purse each day for it’s hard work or believe that my socks are alive…lol.  Trust me, you’ve got to read the book.

You can purchase the book here The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.  Or go the Stacy route and reserve it at the library.  They have audio and book versions available.

I’m sure you’re completely sick of reading about the KonMari method that I’ve been writing about over and over.  But, the more peeps I chat with, the more I realize they don’t even know what KonMari is.  Here is a brief breakdown….

Japanese organizational consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly declutter your home once, you’ll never have to do it again. Whereas most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, the KonMari Method’s category-by-category, all-at-once prescription leads to lasting results. In fact, none of Kondo’s clients have been repeat customers (and she still has a three-month waiting list of new customers!). With detailed guidance for every type of item in the household, this quirky little manual from Japan’s newest lifestyle phenomenon will help readers clear their clutter and enjoy the unique magic of a tidy home–and the calm, motivated mindset it can inspire.

{smoothie bowl}

Get your camera ready.  The most instagram worthy breakfast.  I’m sure you’ve seen all the stars + bloggers posting pics of their amazingly photogenic smoothie bowls?

So what is a smoothie bowl you ask?  It’s a smoothie in a bowl.  Bowl-ed smoothie.  A smoothie with a spoon.  These bowls are the biggest breakfast trend out there.  And for a good reason.  These super bowls are packed with nutrient rich leafy greens, fruits, and most importantly, delicious.

IMG_2313

Let’s talk about toppings, you can use berries + bananas + chia seeds + nuts + honey + coconut + granola….the sky’s the limit.  Kinda like a froyo.  Yo!

{good reads}

First thing first – let’s clear something up.  I’m not a reader.  I listen to audio books.  Reading puts me to sleep every.single.time.  For reals.  I recently became hooked on books.  Reading reviews to see what book I want to listen to next.  Asking for reviews.  Who have I become?  It used to be People + Martha Stewart magazines…ONLY.  So, this is kind of a big deal for me.  Anyway, I’m going to share the books I’ve finished.  The books I want to grab next.

I guess I really owe this new-found hobby to the “Book Club” a couple of my girlfriends started about a year ago.  When I said yes, that’d I’d join, I really thought I was joining a, let’s drink wine and hang out club.  Wong, these B’s really wanted to read books.  And drink wine too, of course.  I secretly wanted to un-join once I understood what was really going on.

First book – Wild.  I thought, sweet, I’ve watched the movie:)  Haha.  I’m dead serious.  About a week after the first meeting, the girls starting emailing about how much they loved the book.  I went to the Woodland Library’s web-site and decided to check out the damn book.  Then under the title I see, “audio version.”  Huh?   I checked it out.  Listened to the book in a little over a week.  Killed my car battery trying to finish chapter after chapter sitting in my garage.  I was hooked.  I’ve NEVER in my life been hooked to a book before.  Like I said, magazines only.

WildTP_Books-680

This book actually prompted the over-night backpacking trip I took with some girlfriends last year.  I later realized I enjoyed Cheryl Strayed’s writing.

Happy Monday, I mean Tuesday.  Once again – I’m late.  Oops…hence the Note to Self above.  I’m not going to be hard on myself.  Shit happens.  Life happens.  I’m a busy bitch. Annnddd, If you know me, then you know I’m always late.  So there ya go.  And HAPPY TUESDAY sounds better than Monday anyway!!!

My weekend was super chill.  Just how I wanted it.  Friday night we went to Crawdad’s on the river for dinner + drinks.  When is the last time you’ve been there?  Probably 2002?  Yeah, me too.  You’ve gotta go check it out.  Much better than before.  Their menu is legit.  I tried my first mud bug, aka crawdad.  I liked it.  I mean, I haven’t met many foods that I don’t like so it was expected 🙂

I ordered the salmon dish

Grilled Salmon served with crispy potato hash, chorizo, fresh corn salsa, topped with crème

Yumm.  Everyone (there were 6 of us) loved their meal.  Now that’s a big deal.  Typically someone in the group doesn’t end up liking what they ordered.  The moscow mules were equally delicious, I might add.

Happy-FriYAY.jpg

Happy Friday friends.  Anyone else as ready as I am for the weekend?  I have NOTHING planned for the entire weekend.  Well, except a date with my backyard lounge + the sun.  Did you catch the weekend weather?  85 – 88 degrees…thank you baby jesus.  Other than working on my tan, I’m super looking forward to meal prep.  Something I haven’t been able to do for the last few weeks.  I miss it.  Weird, huh?

Friday 5 is what we do…..

ONE // I’m currently IN LOVE with tassels.  It’s becoming a problem.  This week alone I ordered three.  THREE.  3.  T -H-R-E-E  Items with tassels.  And I can’t fucking wait for them to arrive on my doorstep next week 🙂  Are you a tassel freak too?

cn10903834

For Me – Swing Tassel Tank

For Bailey – Tassel Sandals

TWO // Dallas Housewives.  “Everything is bigger in Texas!”  Especially the DRAMA.  Grab your Jesus Juice and take a seat, these bitches are already in-your-face cat fighting.  Although they follow every sentence with “bless your heart,” they really want to choke each other out.  I try not to judge a book by its cover, but how can you not judge Bravo Housewives by their taglines?  Dallas does NOT disappoint…..

Brandi Redmond – Former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader fire crotch

  • “I was a Cowboys Cheerleader, but in Dallas I’m never on the sidelines”

Cary Deuber –  Married to her plastic surgeon “wife”

  • “I’m not a trophy wife, I’m a lifetime achievement award” (dammmnnn)

LeeAnne Locken – One time pageant princess….from the circus?

  • “I grew up a Carny kid.  Play games with me and you’re gonna pay”

Stephanie Hollman – The bible thumper from a previous life that farts on demand

  • “I’m the girl next door…..if you live in a big ol’ mansion”

Tiffany Hendra – Ex actress/model married to a Kieth Urban look-a-like

  • “I came home to Dallas to shine my light, not to fight”

Sorry I’ve been MIA this week.  Last week was a whirlwind of fun.  A week off of work.  And basically a week off of regular life.  So, as you can imagine – we are in maj catch up mode this week.  Work + life + activities….pretty much everything.  Ever need a vacation from your vacation?  I should have taken a photo of our fridge.  It’s empty.  Like I’ve never had a fridge so empty in my adult life.

Enough of that.  Let’s recap Seattle, WA.  Stover’s Wedding.  Sightseeing with my family and great friends.  Believe it or not, I hardly took any pictures.  WTF was I thinking?  I was so busy enjoying all the time with friends and family that I rarely took my phone out.  So these photos in this post are ALL I have.  Every single one of them.  Enjoyyyy…..

First off, go to Megan Wahlquist Photography and “like” her page.  You have to take a peek at all the gorgeous wedding photos from Stover’s photographer.  She did such an amazing job capturing the marriage + love of Sarah and JD.  I can’t wait to see all the photos.

Did you check out the photo above of the flower girl + ring bearer with the bride + groom.  I can’t handle it.  They killed it!!

Let’s chat about the weather.  The freakish beautiful weather.  I think all of us Cali peeps brought the sunshine with us.  It was unbelievable.

FullSizeRender.jpg

I arrived in Seattle on Wednesday.  So sleepy after our Sutter’s Fort trip.  Security took FOREVER…who knew you can travel with 2 dogs and 2 cats?  I saw it, you can.  For reals though.

IMG_2114.JPG

But luckily I found my hommie at the airport bar 🙂  A glass of wine to ease my flying nerves.  Thanks Nerdie!!!

IMG_2118

My Thursday morning view.  This is from the Lake House Stover’s family rented for the week.  This picture really doesn’t do it any justice.  The place was ah-mazing.  Views from every room.

IMG_2122.JPG

Thursday morning we set off to run errands.  The Bride + her dress 🙂  Of course we stopped for a selfie along the way.  You guys, the flowers + plants in Seattle are out of this world beautiful.  Check out these blooming trees lining the streets.  I mean, come on.  There are just asking for a selfie, right?

And I cant forget the double-decker Target.  A cart escalator.  What the?  I’m from small town Woodland so this rocked my world.  LOL.  The cart hooks on and goes up or down the escalator next to you.  So damn cool.  I think Woodland needs one of these. ASAP!

IMG_2132.JPG

Some of our besties flew in for the wedding.  So drinks were a MUST.  Love you girls!!!
