Where did the weekend go?  It’s Monday, but it’s ok.  I got this.  Don’t forget to be awesome peeps!!

Friday night was all about Netflix and chillllll.  Dinner + drinks + Fuller House marathon.  With my fellow Mexico widow.  Cory and his buddies were gone to Mexico for a “guys” weekend.  So we got together to binge watch TV and catch up.

I honestly wasn’t planning on digging it as much as I did.  We watched 5 episodes.  It felt like I was re-living part of my childhood.  I’ve seen every original episode of Full House more than once.  Who remembers being pumped on Friday nights for TGIF?  I sure do.  DJ looks great.  DJ Tanner, on the other hand looks like a hooker.  Uncle Jessie is still smok’n.  Have mercy!!  Aunt Becki hasn’t aged a bit.  Kimmy, is Kimmy.  You just gotta love her.  How about the Olsen twin jab?  I cant believe those b’s wouldn’t join.  What jerks.

{friday 5}

It’s Friiiddaaayyyy bitches!  I’m so happy to close this work week and have a little fun.  The weather man is showing a high of 74 degrees and sunshine.  Let the weekend begin.

But, first – lets chat about 5 things on my mind…..

ONE – You’ve got mail.  AOL mail that is.  Peeps are ALWAYS asking me, ” AOL is still around?”  Or “why in the hell do you STILL use AOL?”  “Bailey’s number 1 mom!”  I’ve heard it all.  So back in 2006 (on maternity leave) I set up a personal email address.  AOL was what I randomly picked for some reason.  As I typed Bailey (my unborn child’s name) as a possible address…the 1st option popped up, Bailey1mom.  I snagged it and that’s how it all happened.  Since that date, I have paid $11.99/ month.  That’s roughly $1,438.80 to use AOL.  Crazy, right?  Like I’ve said before, I’m a creature of habit.  I like to keep everyday shit simple.  Then I purchased a iPhone 6.  Things went a little downhill from there. I can no longer open jpg attachments sent from my iPhone.  I really dont use a camera much, so all my blog photos ALL come from my phone.  This created a huge issue.  Obvi, I sent them to my Mom and she would re-send them to my email address so I could open them.  Best part, she never complained once.  I bitched non-stop.  Finally I chatted with AOL and I now have to log into the beta version to access photos.  I guess it works, but come on AOL – it’s 2016, get yo shit together.

Today, I plan to open a gmail account.

TWO – Bailey convinced me that we had to have Taco Bell for dinner the other night.

St. Patrick’s Day celebrates the Roman Catholic feast day of the patron saint of Ireland. St. Patrick died on March 17, 461. But did you know that he wasn’t even Irish?  Yeah, me either.  Patrick with kidnapped into slavery and brought to Ireland. He became a bishop and after his death was named Ireland’s patron saint.

Fun facts:

  • According to the legend, St. Patrick used the three leaf clover to explain the Trinity
  • Corn beef and cabbage is actually an Irish American dish.
  • “Erin go Bragh” means “Ireland Forever”
  • The dyeing the river green originated in Chicago in 1962.  City officials decided to dye the Chicago River green.
  • St. Patricks Day was a dry Holiday till about 1970
  • In traditional Irish tales, there are NO female leprechauns.  What the hell?

We obvi celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at our house.  Decorations are up and green outfits are picked.  Today I’m going to share some of my St. Patty’s day crafts + recipes to get you pumped for this Holiday 🙂

First up – Bailey and I made this cute banner last weekend.  Super easy and you can get the free printable here.   We also have this banner here, that we made a few years ago.  Another super cute + easy option.

Each St. Patrick’s Day morning I give Bailey a “So Lucky You’re Mine” basket full of her favorite green goodies.  Artichokes + onion pringles + thin mints + snapea crisps + gum 🙂  She’s always pumped to see what festive snacks I can come up with each year.

From the ever so trendy bucket bag, to the classic tote, don’t forget the comfy crossbody and how about a backpack bag? .  Check out these springy neutral colored bags.  I’ve gathered some of my top favorites in stores now.  I even threw in a couple Target finds.  Bet you can’t guess which ones there are?  I now have online shopping carts full of these beauties and can’t decide which one I want to rock.  I’m leaning toward the bucket, but then the backpack yells “pick me, pick me!!”  And I’m lost again.  LOL.  Real problems folks!!

{creamy zuppa toscana soup}

First off, if you are a Kaia girl, don’t even look.  This is not, by any means a healthy recipe.  Let’s just say this recipe found me:)  Unfortunately right smack dab when I started BRIK.  It’s been on my brain ever since.  So, of course I made it.  Think heavy cream + bacon.  Two words that have not been in my vocabulary in the last couple months.  OMG…it’s so bad, in a yummy way.  If you’re an Olive Garden customer, then you’ve seen this on their menu.  Check it out peeps…..

Good morning + happy Monday.  I’m a total Monday + morning person, and I’m totally not feelin it this morning.  I need one more day!!

We had a pretty low key weekend.  It was nice.  My DVR is clear…..not a single show to watch.  That kinda explains how I spent a hunk of my time…lol.

I also watched The Intern.  Gotta love movies with happy endings.  Robert De Niro is such a great actor.

Starting a new job can be a difficult challenge, especially if you’re already retired. Looking to get back into the game, 70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro) seizes the opportunity to become a senior intern at an online fashion site. Ben soon becomes popular with his younger co-workers, including Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway), the boss and founder of the company. Whittaker’s charm, wisdom and sense of humor help him develop a special bond and growing friendship with Jules.

Let the weekend begin, it’s music to my ears.  I’m looking forward to slow mornings.  Making breakfast.   Planting some flowers in the front yard.  Catching my nephews basketball games.  Bike rides.  Soaking up as much sunshine as I possibly can.  What’s your weekend looking like?

Friday 5 is what I do, so here we goooo……

ONE – Remember last time I posted my blog stats?  If not, you can read about it here {friday 5}.  Well, I posted my weight again and guess what?  I had record breaking stats AGAIN.  I guess I know what you all want to read.  How much my ass weighs.  I watched as the number grew larger + larger.  (emailing my Mom to update her and we cracked up laughing together) Adding Brazil + Thailand this time.  WTF?  1047 peeps read

I try to stay away from Target.  For financial reasons.  I walk though those sliding glass doors and lose all control.  Control over whats right + whats wrong.   Lose track of time.  I basically forget about everything in the world….lol.  Soooo, when I do finally allow myself a lunch break Target tip – I go crazy in awww over all the new stuff.  Please tell me I’m not the only one?
Well, this weeks trip proved that Target’s sandal game is on point.  They have some of the cutest sandals right now.  Go quick and get a pair.  They will be gone in a flash.  I tried ALL of the these on.  Loved them all equally.  Then put them all back and left the store.  Remember how I said I loose control?  I put 3 pairs in my cart then said, come on bitch, pick one or go home.  So I went home.  I think I’ve decided the brown slide on hurache style is the one.  Which means, I have to go back…Yesss!!!

{before + after}

Last Friday was a pretty amazing treat.  Kaia Fit Woodland invited me to hang out with a group of ladies that were the BRIK support group for a day of pampering.  Melika went all out!!  In true Melika fashion – an amazing healthy snack spread was ready for us right as we walked in the door.  We chatted and were introduced to each other.  Then it was off to spray tan + hair + makeup.  I’m telling you, she went above and beyond to spoil us.

Once we were all dolled up, we had a full on photo shoot.  I really can’t remember the last time I had a photographer take just my picture.  Maybe senior pics, back in 2000?  I was a little uncomfortable to be honest.  Karl, our photographer, was great.  He helped loosen us up and get some great shots.  Big shout out to Val + Karl for the great photos to showcase our BRIK success.  When I got my images all I could think was, wow – they must have photoshopped…lol.

You can read more about my before weight/measurements at {weekend notes}.  Then a couple days later I looked at my stats and 1.13% of the Woodland, CA population read about my measurements…CRAZY.  You can read more about it at {friday 5}.  My mid point post got some of the highest views…check it out here {{dear fat,}.  Well, last Saturday morning I did my final measurements + weigh-in.
