Friday morning we headed to Lawson’s Landing in Dillon Beach to spend the weekend camping.  Lawson’s Landing is a fishing and boating resort and campground, situated at the mouth of Tomales Bay, Californian.  It’s known for generations of family camping fun.  Who remembers trips to Dillon Beach back when they were kids?  We spent many weekends clamming + camping + vacationing growing up.

[pon-choh]
noun, plural ponchos.
1. a blanketlike cloak with a hole in the center to admit the head,originating in South America, now often worn as a raincoat.

It sounds awful, right?  Well, let me clear it up for you.  It’s amazing. These trendy boho-chic ponchos are basically a big cozy blanket you wrap around yourself (no, it’s not a snuggie). Best part, it’s publicly acceptable and fashionable too.  Haha.

The fringe and geometric pattern details are perfection.

Warm and trendy all in one.  Yes, please.

I will be rock’n my poncho for Thanksgiving.

ps….DO NOT look up the Urban Dictionary definition for poncho, I repeat – do not look it up.  The further I read the worse it got.  Just cray.

{thanksgiving kid table}

img_thanksgiving-party.jpg

The Pottery Barn Kid’s Table always gets me.  So damn cute.  Clearly I’m not going to dump a grand on trying to duplicate this masterpiece.  But, I so admire the crap out of it.  Haha.

This year we will be hosting our family for Thanksgiving dinner.  When I say, “we are hosting”, what I really mean is, my mom will pretty much do everything.  Just at my house.  She will come over bright and early in the morning with the bird all ready for the oven.  I just might possibly stick the bird in the oven and set the timer.  That’s kind of it.

So, when I say “I’m hosting” it’s a joke.  I’ve never even roasted a turkey in my life.  It’s so intimidating.  Everyone sits around Thanksgiving day anticipating the turkey feast.  If it sucks, then you basically suck and ruined Thanksgiving.  I’ll leave that to my mom 🙂

My Thanksgiving role is setting pretty tables and baking a couple of pies.

As I walked though Target the other day, I came across cute Thanksgiving paper goods.  I thought it would make the most adorable kids table.

Happy Monday!  I’m so ready for this short work week and Thanksgiving break.  How about you?

I only have to pack lunches two days this week….hallelujah!!  Can I get a whoop whoop!  Are you with me?  Easy mornings, NO homework, extra time for Starbucks stops and slow evenings.  This is what Holiday weeks are all about.  Don’t forget family + friends + wine + the food too 🙂

Weekend time is the best time!!! 😎

Friday 5, lets do it –

ONE – Last night I whipped up this baked polenta with sausage and artichoke hearts with a big green salad and grilled asparagus.  BOMB.  Martha Stewart never disappoints.  It’s an easy weeknight dinner that delivers.

Check out the recipe :

2 teaspoons olive oil

1/2 white onion, thinly sliced

1 pound sweet italian sausage

2 garlic cloves, chopped

3/4 cup marinated artichoke hears, coarsely chopped

1 tube prepared polenta, cut into 1/4-inch rounds

1/3 cup chicken stock

1/4 cup fresh parsley, coarsely chopped

salt + pepper

** I added sun-dried tomatoes and parmesan too, do it!!

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  In a large skillet, heat oil over medium.  Add onion and cook 5 minutes, until softened.  Add sausage and cook, breaking up meat with a wooden spoon, until browned, 8 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, 30 seconds. Remove skillet from heat and stir in artichokes; season with salt and pepper.

In a 2-quart baking dish, layer polenta rounds and spoonfuls of sausage mixture. Pour stock over top and bake until bubbling and polenta is pale golden, 20 to 25 minutes. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.

Thanks Martha – you’re still the shit!

{holiday cards}

It’s that time of year.  Time to order your Holiday cards.  As you can see, I already received my card order.  That’s because I placed my order in September…lol.  When you have promo codes that can be stacked (using multiple codes towards one order), you place your order early to save $40.  Yes, I saved $40 by ordering early.  Totally worth it to me.  Then I ordered a new top from J.crew with my $40 savings to reward myself for being the smartest chick in town and saving $$.  It totally makes sense to me 🙂

Here’s a peek at our 2012, 2013, 2014 Minted Holiday Cards.

I am definitely not a quitter.
Gold Everything Edition //  I love gold.  Golden.  Metallic gold.  Every single shade of gold.  Gold anything.  Gold Everything.  If it comes in gold, this B is buying it.  It’s classic.  Timeless.  Adds the perfect finishing touch to an outfit + display + table.  I remember when I associated gold with old.    I remember when gold was so uncool.  WTF was I thinking?

{back in the saddle}

Bailey is back in the saddle.  Something she LOVES.  Something we both love.  She is obsessed with horses, and I love watching her do what she loves.

At Bailey’s 9 year doc appointment, her pediatrician asked her “what do you love to do the very most, what’s your passion?”  Without hesitation, “Riding horses!!”  I realized she hadn’t ridden a horse since last summer.  Holy guilt trip.  I called and booked her a package of lessons the very next day.
